How old was your lo when someone first made hilarious wisecracking remarks like "bitty"?

Because this Christmas I got no end of jokey comments from rellies about how long I am intending to bf ds for.

"I bet ds will be like that man off Little Britain, you know, 'bitty'".

"When do you think you'll stop feeding him? When he goes to Uni?"

"What do you think his first word will be? 'Bitty'?"

And so on. All made in a happy jovial jokey way and one or two wouldn't have been so bad but by the end of the Christmas holidays I was getting really effed off with it.

These are the same rellies who when I was struggling with bf told me I was being stubborn and should ff instead. Of course now I've continued they're apparently immensely proud etc. etc. but I wonder... are they really? If so why all the jokey comments?

And ds is not even nine months old yet!!

So I wondered, how old were you when you got your first "bitty"-esque jokey comment?

Luckily being a midwife very few people question hat you are doing re breastfeeding DD is 2.10 months and still feeding alongside DS2 who is 10 months, however DS1, who is 12 no longer breastfeeds so I am sure that is comfort to some

I'm in NI and I think people are really squeamish here about breast feeding. But in total contrast when I took ds2 to Pakistan at age 16 months, I was no longer breast feeding and my mil slagged me constantly. She thought I was a terrible mother depriving her grandchild of milk

What was your reply?

"of course" of course

interestingly she is really anti dummy for over 2s as well (my ds keeps pinching childminder's ds one) so perhaps she has unrealistic expectations for small children's need for comfort.

this 1st time someone sil commented on bitty was when dd was about 6 weeks !
she sort of shuddered and said yuk imagine dn coming up tugging on your top or pulling it up saying bitty, thats why she stopped at 3 months
i wasnt to confient about bf at the time

if someone said thtat to me know i just say how sad thats how some people even feel about breastfeeding[that its gross] at all
