Just curious, as I've heard the most stupid things lately. Shocked at how clueless GPs and health visitors can be about breastfeeding :O

All references in my post to midwife should be health visitor.

I told the midwife that I would be ff from the start. She told me that I would be giving my baby a second rate start in life.
Luckily I can stand up for myself and told her that my baby would have a excellent start in life.

I understand that some want to bf but others of us don’t want to. It doesn’t mean that our baby is having a lesser start in life, less loved or less bonded with.
Those working with pregnant women need to understand that we all want the best for our baby but bf isn’t the be and end all to a healthy and happy baby (and parents).

@Parker231 totally agree with you! Formula has come a very long way.

With my first I didn’t bond at all while breastfeeding, it was only when he was fully formula that we started as I was so much more relaxed.

It’s so individual and all parents and babies should be supported however they want to feed their babies.
