Hipp Organic New Recipe

Maxamill · 16/04/2020 10:41

Just wondered if anyone's baby who is on Hipp Organic has started on the new recipe boxes yet?

My lo will no longer take this milk, the new recipe smells and tastes horrendous compared to before and we are now waking up during the night and screaming through bottles.

I think we are going to have to move formulas, I've tried to persevere with it for a few days to see if he gets used to the taste but he's having none of it!

I've only just started to see the new recipe boxes in the larger supermarket so I'm not sure how many people will have moved onto it yet but interested to see if anyone else has had the same issue!

Has anyone else tried the new recipe yet? We'll be moving onto our new box later today and wonder how people are finding it?

Essygirl19 · 28/04/2020 22:44

Hi,
Thank you for this post!
My DD is 7 months on Friday and she been on this milk for 4 months now!

I tried the new recipe, she threw up maybe an oz after being fed 6oz.

1 hour later she was screaming for more milk!

Fornorah · 29/04/2020 23:02

Hello! I have been looking for any reviews on the new recipe of Hipp and just came across this thread today. I have been using hipp for my 8 months old since beginning and very happy with it. Since they changed the recipe we tried for few days and my LO started having reflux episodes and very uncomfortable in the night. I even called them to complain but they did not say much.

Fornorah · 07/05/2020 12:44

Bump anyone still trying the new milk

Twiglet2353 · 07/05/2020 13:30

Yes we're still on the new milk @Fornorah. No problems z

Maxamill · 07/05/2020 13:43

We've switched to Kendamil because my lo wouldn't drink the new formula Hipp! No major problems except for the first week his nappies were looser but I think that was just his tummy getting used to the new formula x

Hmm so my baby's poo has started to smell fishy.....nice

Angie80 · 12/05/2020 22:07

The new recipe is awful, the smell reminds me of an old chip pan 🤢 ordered 3 boxes online not realising the recipe has changed now I’m stuck with them! Can anyone recommend another brand?

Fornorah · 13/05/2020 00:16

We switched to kendamil for few days but seemed like my baby developed colic like symptoms! So we are back to hipp.. I have some old stock so using that. Not sure what I will do when I run out of it in few weeks. My baby is 8.5 months

Maxamill · 13/05/2020 07:14

@Fornorah I thought this but I think I was over shaking the bottles as it dissolves really easily and I caused it to froth by shaking like I would with Hipp. Instead I sort of mix it in a circle if that makes sense instead of shaking it up and down?
Not sure if that helps you!

Is there anyone else persevering with the new recipe? My baby's poos still smell a bit fishy (have been for 7 days but started new recipe before that)
I don't know if it's the added fish oils, or teething, or the fact he was recently on antibiotics and it's affected his gut flora??

Fornorah · 18/05/2020 12:39

We have given up on new hipp as it causes colic and reflux in my baby

Daisydoo94 · 23/05/2020 19:06

A week ago my 10 month old that's on Hipp started to also refuse his bottle. I thought the recipe change would be so minor it would make little difference I was obviously wrong I've given it a week to see if he gets used to it but he's grumpy and his Nappies are getting positively dry which worries me. I'm going to have to change Milks which is irritating as he was doing so well on Hipp and now he's only on formula for 2 more months until he can go on cows milk. Loved hipp I bf for 2 months and the transition from breast milk to hipp was easy for my son no digestion issue at all. I'm going to have to do some research into new formulas.

Fornorah · 23/05/2020 21:53

Daisydoo94 my baby seems grumpy as well . Since the recipe has changed my baby is not settling in this milk and I have tried changing to other brands and she's not liking the taste. She's going to be 9 months but still needs a lot of milk. How many bottles does your baby still take?
When you say his nappies are dry .. is he constipated? The new formula smells horrible

Daisydoo94 · 23/05/2020 22:24

Fornorah my son has 3 bottles one in the morning one after nap #2 and one before bed. I offer him 6 - 7 ounces each time as he never has had more than 7 at one time. In the morning he will drink most of the new hipp formula as I think he's starving but as he obviously has solid food during the day he literally refuses to have more than 1-2 ounces from the other 2 bottles. He is still having normal bowel movements although smellier than normal. I mean dry from lack of fluid. He has water throughout the day but maybe its not enough. But it has been hot recently so it's hard to tell. Has anyone had issues with cow and gate? I'd like to change him onto something new tomorrow as he's really unhappy so ideally needs to be something I don't have to order online.

Fornorah · 23/05/2020 23:15

Daisydoo94 I literally have to sing to my baby or try numerous times so she takes more milk. I don't have a choice as her solid intake is not great yet. You need to give him more milk then ofcourse if he's not drinking. I am scared if she doesn't like the milk she may totally give up the bottles one day. I chose hipp because it was organic but not I see it is not really different from cow and gate or aptamil wither the added ingredients?

Maxamill · 24/05/2020 07:02

I've tried Aptimal and Cow & Gate and both caused us some issues as I think the fish oil doesn't agree with my dc

Aptimal was the best out of the two for us but I do find you have to be careful when shaking it as it goes really frothy and can make them swallow a lot of air! X

My DD who is now almost 5 weeks old, was drinking the old HiPP recipe for the first few weeks and has now been drinking the new HiPP recipe for about 2 weeks and seems fine other than being sick a few times. The only trouble I'm having now is getting hold of more of the new recipe as all the supermarkets by us only have the old recipe. I just hope reverting back to the old recipe won't upset her tummy? Has anyone else experienced this at all?

My DS absolutely thrived on HiPP organic milk (old recipe) and suites him so well.

Twiglet2353 · 24/05/2020 10:53

We've not had any problems either, other than the fishy poo 💩
My LO seems to drink more too 🤷🏻‍♀️

@juliajules91 We've done a mixture as we use ready made when out and had all old recipe ones. Again no issue, but he is older now so probably less sensitive to change

Angie80 · 24/05/2020 12:44

Try Boots when I ordered online they sent the new recipe and my local stores all had the new recipe too

RLI1105 · 24/05/2020 18:25

This thread is stressing me out so much!! My son has never been a big drinker and I'm terrified when we switch to the new formula that he'll stop drinking. We have a few boxes of the old stuff left and the shops by me are still selling it. A part of me just wants to rip the plaster off though and see if he'll take it 😬

MarEusReyes · 24/05/2020 18:28

Hi Maxamil.

I was wondering how are you getting on with Kendamil? Have the nappies gone back to normal (no more loose ones)?

I have bought a tin of Kendamil today to see if it helps my little one as i dont think she likes Aptamil anymore. Kendamil does smell delicious but I just worry about it as I dont really see it being advertised plus i dont find much info from mums that may have used it 🤔

Fornorah · 24/05/2020 19:59

I had heard very good things about Kendamil but my baby did not get on it somehow.. may be it's the only one made of whole milk and a bit heavy to digest.
My baby is just refusing her bottles. It has been very stressful today. Perhaps I can try her on full fat cows milk as she's 9 months old now?

MarEusReyes · 24/05/2020 20:36

Hi @fornorah

Did your baby get upset with it?
My baby too has been refusing bottles for some time which is really stressing me out. So i took the plunge and changed her formula. I must say she's not as irritated with this one. With aptimil she would really squirm and go crazy at me. We will see. Really early days as only bought it today.

I'd love to definitely hear how Maxamil is getting on with her baby on it.

I've read something about a baby might not be interested in milk anymore because of solids. Not too sure on that subject but i hope you get it sorted though🤞🏼

Maxamill · 24/05/2020 22:41

Hi @MarEusReyes

Yes getting on really well with Kendamil! His nappies are still a bit looser than they used to be but not watery like diarrhoea it's more of a paste whereas with Hipp I found his nappies were really quite thick (I'm probably not describing this very well!)

He's gaining weight and drinks his bottles the best he ever has. The only thing I did mention on a previous post was not to shake it too much as it can go frothy but if you're on aptamil it won't be much different as I found that could go frothy as well if you shook it too much whereas Hipp never had any air in it at all.

Hope this helps!
