bf talking babies - what does yours call it?

Did your los come up with words for bf'ing themselves, or did you introduce a 'suitable' word?

Ds (15 months) is just getting to grips with words - so far we have 'ball', 'bird' and 'car' (all the important things in life covered then...). Now he has started batting at my breasts and looking at me and making an enquiring 'eh?' sound.... I say 'milk' , but he doesn't seem to believe me. I don't really want him shouting 'boob' (or 'bitty'), but I think he's asking me what to say. Any ideas would be great.

'milk' is fine, or 'milk from mummy'

belgo · 14/06/2007 13:21

oh and getting them to say 'please' as well is quite nice

beansprout · 14/06/2007 13:21

Milk is fine. Although ds also thinks my breasts are "milks".

belgo · 14/06/2007 13:21

lol at 'milks'

BikeBug · 14/06/2007 13:24

'Please' would be a great improvement on batting me on the chest, that's for sure! Will have to encourage mmmm sounds for milks

dd came up with 'nah' herself.

now then came up with 'nicky' her best pronounciation of 'milky' as her speech is just slowly coming.

kiskidee · 14/06/2007 13:25

the other day each time before latching on she also said 'taa mummy'

Jacanne · 14/06/2007 13:30

DD2 calls it boo-boo or makes this excited little laughing sound.

edam · 14/06/2007 13:33

Ds calls my breasts 'Barbaras'. Thinks it is hysterically funny. No idea where it came from! (Gave up b/f when he was 7mos but thought the name might be helpful. Unless your name is Barbara, of course...)

krabbiepatty · 14/06/2007 13:33

DS1 at age about 3 referred to breasts as "snacks" due to my saying "Just going to give DS2 a snack" so many times.

Actually that is quite yucky.

TooTicky · 14/06/2007 13:40

Dd2 says her version of milk, which would be impossible to type. Don't think ds1 and ds2 called it anything - we just worked on instinct.
Dd1, however, started calling it dardar, which she then changed to titty (thanks dp) and used to shriek for it on buses .

Tinker · 14/06/2007 13:41

'Mummy's milk' here. And 'mmmm that;s yummy' when she's finished

twolittleducks · 14/06/2007 21:36

pmsl edam, barbaras?! that is hilarious

determination · 14/06/2007 21:38

"yummy mummys milk"

Now she is no longer bfing and nearly 3.. she got my manual pump the other days and was shouting... "Mum... wheres my Milk?!!!" whilst pumping like mad against herself!

dinny · 14/06/2007 21:38

"nummies"

Donk · 14/06/2007 21:46

DS called it 'Mummy milk' and referred to my breasts as 'milks' - cows milk was 'kitchen milk'

morocco · 14/06/2007 21:48

ds2 bizarrely called my boobs 'crumble' - he kept going on about liking crumble for ages before I twigged he didn't mean apple!
no idea where that came from

Pidge · 14/06/2007 21:49

yesterday morning dd, age2.3, popped off after having her morning milk and said:

"best booby in the world mummy"

made me smile for the rest of the day

hoxtonchick · 14/06/2007 21:50

dd called mine didi. still does, though i stopped feeding her 6 months ago when she was 18 months. she does still try to latch on though, & likes to twiddle my nipples. and her own .

popsycal · 14/06/2007 21:56

ds2 calls it ju-baba
Started as baba
then once he could say 'juice' it was juice baba
now it has morphed into ju-baba

He sometimes says mummy milk. He is very against sharing at the minute and even though ds1 hasnt had a breast feed since he was tiny, ds2 currently checks before he feeds: 'me jubaba. me no share ju baba my ds1. MY jubaba. no SHARE jubaba'

it also tastes of raspberries apparently

popsycal · 14/06/2007 21:57

oh yes - we alsohave
'me no like moo milk me like jubaba. ds2 have moo milk me no like moo milk. ds1 no like jubaba'...

he is very cute

berolina · 14/06/2007 21:58

ds (2.1) calls it mama milk. (And after he's had one he always wants the 'other one'). He calls my breasts, well, 'breasts'.

Wallace · 14/06/2007 22:16

lol popsycal, he sounds cute - did you get him his lello shoes yet?

dd used to say "sides!" when she wanted a feed. She got it from me saying "let's swap sides"

terramum · 14/06/2007 22:18

DS (2.11) calls it "Booby Milk" & "Boobies"....although lately he has taken to coming up to me & saying "Mummy I need you" when he wants a feed which I absolutely love

Jenkeywoo · 14/06/2007 22:24

dd2 is 14 months and just starting to talk, she has started patting my breasts and making little sucking noises to let me know. DD1 calls them 'mummy bot-bot' (mummy bottle) as she knows it's milk like her bottle of milk. But I'm not sure I fancy dd2 asking for her bot-bot! I'm been repeating 'milk' to her a lot and she is definatively listening. I also ask her 'would you like this?' and she nods which is cute. I have to say it's one of the joys of extended breastfeeding that dd is starting to be able to tell me when she wants it, although I'm sure they'll be times when I wish otherwise!
