bf talking babies - what does yours call it?

Did your los come up with words for bf'ing themselves, or did you introduce a 'suitable' word?

Ds (15 months) is just getting to grips with words - so far we have 'ball', 'bird' and 'car' (all the important things in life covered then...). Now he has started batting at my breasts and looking at me and making an enquiring 'eh?' sound.... I say 'milk' , but he doesn't seem to believe me. I don't really want him shouting 'boob' (or 'bitty'), but I think he's asking me what to say. Any ideas would be great.

My dd (2.6) asks for ' a little bitta booby milk'

DaisyMOO · 14/06/2007 23:25

DS3 who is 20 months calls it 'Muk'. I always remember DD shouting out very loudly in the middle of a falconry display on holiday 'Mummy, I want BOOBEEEE'

PrettyCandles · 14/06/2007 23:38

The first word dd said was "baa", indicating my breast. She wasn't askin for a feed, just naming an object. She soon changed "baa" to "boo", which became her word for breastfeed as well as breast. "Boo" is still our family word for breasts.

BikeBug, now is the time to make sure that he doesn't learn to ask by pulling up your shirt. Firmly slide your hand down your chest and take his hand off your shirt if he does that, otherwise he'll do it in Tesco, and anywhere else he can! Help him learn to ask in words.

harpsichordcuddler · 14/06/2007 23:41

dd1 called it "more" for obvious reasons, usually because she wa negotiating for One More Minute
I have always referred to it as more, but dd2 called it Mama Juice for a while and now she calls it Bo for reasons I can't fathom but we are happy with it

DS2 17mo shouts " mam!" and hits my chest hard [ouch emoticon]

kiskidee · 15/06/2007 00:01

for a while dd also said 'side, side' so cute when she giggles with delight before latching on.

she does like to share at the moment, with Mrs Noah this evening. and even with daddy sometimes.

I love these! Thanks so much everyone. And PrettyCandles - you are so right! He only pulls at my top in the mornings for a feed, but has started to want to have a look at the milk dispensers, even when he doesn't want the milk. Really don't want that in the middle of Tesco!

DD2 (2.4) has started bringing assorted objects up for "boo-boo" - last week I would be talking to a friend, look down and notice that she was holding a plastic pig to my breast and making slurping sounds .

She tried to give my friend's 4 month old a beaker of juice the other day - when I told her that the baby had boo-boo she lifted her t-shirt and put her little chest near the baby's mouth.

Aloha · 15/06/2007 10:30

My dd (all by herself) starting calling it 'mummore' - a sort of conflation of 'more mummy milk' - mammore also became her word for breasts. then my dh had 'dadmore' and when I stopped breastfeeding my 'mummores' became 'dadmores'!

chipmonkey · 15/06/2007 11:36

"Boo-boo" here although we have just stopped. I did have to show him that it was milk before that by expressing a little bit as I don't think he believed that it was milk.

Tommy · 15/06/2007 11:44

we call it mummy milk here - or DS1 and 2 do because DS3 only 4 months old so he just gets very excited when he sees it and wriggles a lot )

popsycal · 15/06/2007 13:27

awh ds2 just woke from a nap snd said 'me jubaba peeese. two jubaba peeeese. yum jubaba likr choclit peeeeese. lub oooo lots'

chipmonkey · 18/06/2007 00:30

Popsy

MamaPyjama · 18/06/2007 00:53

We have 'kiki' As in MORE KIKI MAMA at the top of dd's voice while swinging on my top or climbing up my dress. I think it comes from drinkies... My 4 year old ds refers to breasts as drinkies. Maybe I shouldn't have kept telling him I would be there in just one minute, I was just going to give dd a drinkie and put her down for a nap.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 18/06/2007 00:58

DS calls it "booby", and always, after having on side will say "udder one mummy" which is amusing on many levels

Highlander · 18/06/2007 11:10

booftie.

fillyjonk · 18/06/2007 11:12

we have

More (right side)

and

Even More (left)

sep1712 · 18/06/2007 11:19

my ds3 says booby doobies when dd5mths is feeding, not great whilst i'm trying to be discreet!

thell · 18/06/2007 11:41

Another 'milk' here.
And 'swap' to change sides - which I had to actively encourage as I got fed up of the communication by squirming and crying

I introduced 'noo-noo' for a while when DD's speech first exploded, but she quickly wanted to use the word I had been using all along. It's still useful for 'nipple' though. She is the kind of baby (16m) who will suddenly start naming body parts (nose - eyes - chin - )and knowing my luck would yell 'nipple' in Tesco's and I had to tell her something as she had started to point to mine and say 'nose' !!
