I can’t believe what I’ve just read!

I know, if a baby wants to be fed they should be fed, and I'm pretty sure it's against the law to ask someone to stop breastfeeding in a public place! Disgraceful!

DitchingTheDye · 20/08/2018 16:00

You wouldn't bottle feed or eat a sandwich in a pool. And I am a breast feeder!

Haworthia · 20/08/2018 16:00

In the pool? What a twat Grin

WinterBabyIsComing · 20/08/2018 16:01

I'm all for supporting BF, but wtf? Who feeds their child in a pool, what if you squirt, baby vomits etc. Absolutely not discrimination, you can't formula feed in a pool either.

Confused
Mrbatmun · 20/08/2018 16:03

I remember there was HUGE thread on this very topic on here years ago - totally polarised opinions!

I think she probably could have got out and at least done it on the side, but then again, what is the harm of doing it in the pool?

Mrbatmun · 20/08/2018 16:03

Yes I guess if the baby vomited that would be a bit gross. Defo best to get out to breastfeed I think!

FairfaxAikman · 20/08/2018 16:04

I'm a BF and feed publicly all the time, but feeding in the pool is totally inappropriate IMO - you wouldn't serve the bairn a sandwich in the water and milk should be no different.
Also wouldn't the kid be able to taste chlorine? That would put me off my food!

DitchingTheDye · 20/08/2018 16:04

Pools are a hive of germs and chemicals, a totally inappropriate place to feed.

KellyBailey · 20/08/2018 16:04

Mum and baby give good Daily Mail sad face but the two older brothers need to up their game.

dinosaurkisses · 20/08/2018 16:07

Never mind the bf in the pool, why would you bring your toddler to a pre-arranged swim lesson without giving them someone to eat beforehand?

I’d have more sympathy if this was a small baby, but he’s 18 months and the article says it was a feeding. Time. Surely you’d anticipate that and feed him before leaving the house?

Lweji · 20/08/2018 16:13

After feeding at the side, boobs can still leak and babies can still vomit when back in the pool.
I'd forbid both lactating women and babies under 18 yoa to go anywhere near the pool.

CapCat · 20/08/2018 16:15

You wouldn't feed a child anything else in a pool so why would you bf them in a pool

Lweji · 20/08/2018 16:15

Also, where was the father in all of this?

Jaxtellerswife · 20/08/2018 16:16

I don't think you can forbid lactating women from anywhere 🤦🏻‍♀️
I'm a breast feeder and no, I wouldn't in the pool because of chemicals etc but I don't think it's a big deal. Certainly not worthy of the newspaper

Polly99 · 20/08/2018 16:16

Public swimming pools are disgusting. Would she give her other children a snack in a place awash with dirty bottoms, phlegm, old plasters, poo crumbs and chlorine?
I breastfed my two for ages in most locations but I wouldn’t have fed them in a swimming pool any more than I would have fed them in a loo cubicle.

Jaxtellerswife · 20/08/2018 16:17

@Lweji I'll bite. What's the father got to do with anything

n0ne · 20/08/2018 16:17

I'm a huge breastfeeding advocate but IN the pool?! Wouldn't your boobs be all chloriney?

Mrbatmun · 20/08/2018 16:20

Absolutely ridiculous, I bf both of my sons, never in a pool though! I wouldn’t have dreamt of doing so.

I think it’s disgusting quite honestly the pool is full of chemicals, who would eat a meal in a swimming pool?

The mother should have left the pool and bf poolside.

GinAfterBedtime · 20/08/2018 16:27

Fucks sake. Its just a bit of milk - its hardly cyanide.

I wouldn't fee in a pool because I'd rather sit down comfortably, but I also couldn't give a fuck if someone else decided to feed in the water.

Nothisispatrick · 20/08/2018 16:27

The child is 18 months not a newborn, he should’ve eaten before the prebooked swimming lesson she knew she was taking him too. Completely unnecessary to feed in the pool.

Lweji · 20/08/2018 16:28

@Lweji I'll bite. What's the father got to do with anything

Everything. I'd LTB.

Nothisispatrick · 20/08/2018 16:28

*to! I feel like daily mail commenter.

PatchworkElmer · 20/08/2018 16:31

I think she’s in the wrong here- just get out ffs.

Also, if the child was 18 months at the time and there were no other issues, surely she should’ve anticipated this? DS (20
Months) has a snack before swimming and then he’s fine. I’m sure if she gave her hold a feed before getting in the water, he would’ve been fine for what was probably a half hour lesson max? He’s not a newborn ffs!
