WHEN DO YOU STOP GIVING A BOTTLE??

ds (2) still has a bottle of cows milk at night as part of his routine. he drinks from a cup during the day but wont drink milk from anything else. when and how should i move him away from a bottle?

Why move him away...if it aint broke, why fix it?
I still give mine a bottle and he is nearly 4. I will continue for as long as he wants.

thanks was getting a bit worried, he still has a dummy too and my SIL stopped giving bottles to her ds when he was 18m

I'm not worried at all. Its getting milk into him and thats what is important.
As long as he cleans his teeth after it im not in the least bit concerned.
Its every one else that has some thing to say about it i find.
You carry on with what you think is best for your little chap hun, you are doing good.

he eats plenty and drinks plenty during the day but still likes milk at night. im 29 and still drink a cup of hot milk most nights. when did you wean off the bottle cod?

tbh its a comfort thing and the bath, bottle, book, bed routine has worked so well for us that he now associates his milk with story and bed

Go cold turkey , he may cut down for a while but if he enjoys milk he'll drink it again and perhaps during the day instead.

I buy new each time he chews through the teat!
trot on down to boots and slap my money on the counter and say to them "give me your finest quality bottle for my nearly 4 year old.
Then i wait for the sirens to go off and for the police to arrive...they dont obviously!

I love the fact that it winds people up so much..i just cant believe that people...well my sis and yourself coddy get so worked up about something so simple.
Makes me do it all the more tbh.

They are still a baby at 1 surely.

Next doors two ds's still have bottles with juice in, they are 6 and 4.

I'm with Dogsby on this one. The sucking action of bottles has been linked to speech delay (I think - I will back down graciously if proved wrong ) so I was keen to stop the bottle as soon as practical really.
It was slightly more than a year for me as I was convinced he "needed" it - but in the end he took it from a cup just as snuggly and lovely and sleepy - so it was actually me with dependence on the bottle!

hmmm im dubious about that winestein. Nothing wrong with my boys speach, he spoke from early on. You could be right though, think i read something similar a few years ago.

milk is a very healthy drink and a usual part of his bed time routine. Let him carry on with it. DD1 is three years old and has just stopped her bedtime bottle of milk of her own accord, she has a drink of dilute juice now instead.

I very much doubt that a bottle in the evening will lead to speech delay
