Tinker · 15/05/2007 19:09

A quick scan shows Um Bongo no longer appears to be on their list of products. That is good news.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 15/05/2007 19:14

Fio...those pg hormones are doing strange things to you

VeniVidiVickiQV · 15/05/2007 19:16

Save the Children?
Bangladesh Government?
I'd quite happily send a photo of me b/feeding my DS.

Hmm....I've had an idea............

monkeyandcheekychops · 15/05/2007 19:21

Don't want to change the subject but did anyone else notice flavored dildos in that list Ranutm gave at 16:57? WTF!

3andnomore · 15/05/2007 19:23

I looked earlier on at loads of Bf pics, so lovely, made me all sad again thjat I am not bf'ing anymore....I came across them when looking for that Twin picture.
There was some beautyful pics there (and one plain weird one, lol...that I found slightly disturbing, tbh...but that was only one)...
and I am sure most people that have pics of them bf'ing wouldn't want any money to share them for a good cause....if only one could get some funding to get it all printed and distributed, eh!

loads and loads of Bf pics:)

3andnomore · 15/05/2007 19:24

lol flavoured Dildo's...I didn't even realise those existed...flavoured condoms, yeah..but dildo's, really...oh, I am such innocense (rofl here now...at the thought of me being innocent)

VeniVidiVickiQV · 15/05/2007 19:30

I love this one

VeniVidiVickiQV · 15/05/2007 19:32

lots of lovely ones here

chocolattegirl · 15/05/2007 19:34

I wonder if Nestle promoted the ready-made milk if there would such a furore as the powdered stuff raises at the moment (I realise that this is probably beyond the pocket of third world families)? I'm not advocating that women in the third world should use ff but surely if the mother herself can only drink/cook/wash in impure water, her bm still won't be as good as it could be? .

I think the issue is that we should really be campaigning for clean water supplies to be set up by the Bangladeshi government for the sake of everyone there before you can hope to reverse 40 years of mass marketing of the virtues of ff.

3andnomore · 15/05/2007 19:35

incase anyone wonders which picture I found a bit weird and wrong (just a vibe I am getting)
3 row from the top, 2 picture from teh left ....is that just me...and it's not to do with the Baby being older, or whatever....I think Toddlers bf'ing is a beautyful thing....

tiktok · 15/05/2007 19:37

Washing, drinking and cooking with impure water will not make her breastmilk any less good, choc.

Ready to feed is an expensive way of transporting water - bad for the environment, and at the retail end, impossibly expensive for most people in the developing world.

3andnomore · 15/05/2007 19:38

cg...actually what the motehr drinks, etc...really doesn't effect her milk...i.e. if the water is less good or whatever, as her own body will get rid of the toxins, but will still make beautyful breastmilk
Actually to some extent I would even think that the breastmilk of 3. world women can be of better "Quality" then those of many no vegettarian , maybe overweight western (or anywhere else) mummies....as most toxins that we consume get stored in teh fat depots, which underweight women don't actually have....(this is the reason why it's not a great idea to do some extreme diets whilest bf'ing)

tiktok · 15/05/2007 19:40

Also....ready to feed is still formula, and does not have the anti-infective properties of breastmilk. Babies do get sicker in the develping world, and they need the protection of breastmilk.

chocolattegirl · 15/05/2007 19:40

Oh right - that makes sense .

3andnomore · 15/05/2007 19:54

this is a lovely picture
I so so so would love to breastfeed again (but I so so so don't want to have anymore children, lol....sigh)

AitchTwoOh · 15/05/2007 20:06

hey madamez, did you know that beta-blockers might be implicated in poor supply? that's what the specialist bfing people i saw told me. no research, just what they observe coming through the door.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 15/05/2007 20:28

Me too...DS has just this last week self-weaned

lyndyloo · 15/05/2007 20:29

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I am so mad. Mad at the article and mad at some of the misinformed nonsense on here!

Sheesh. HOW can anyone think it is OK for Nestle to promote their product in this way. Nestle must know it is an inferior product but put profit before lives.

And yes of course it is inferior to something that nature naturally produces.

As for saying something is 'soooo Guardian'. FFS! Get a life woman. Just because something gets the 'politically correct' tag doesn't mean it still doesn't have a legitimate point to make. Like if we said the Holocaust was wrong but it's a bit too Guardian so lets ignore it.

It's not just the fact the water is contaminated either. We all know that as soon as you miss a feed, your supply adjusts so their milk starts to run out when they give formula which makes the problem worse.

AitchTwoOh · 15/05/2007 20:30

ach shuttup, i couldn't look at more than two of the pics without being seized by jealousy...

mush4brains · 15/05/2007 20:30

I've come in quite late on this but when emailing netmums its also worth copying it to the NCT as they are asking local branches to give out netmums flyers & I am sure they would have something to say about the nestle sponsorship.

AitchTwoOh · 15/05/2007 20:30

to VVV, btw.
