Wow, it's like we've travelled back in time 40 years!

I'm surprised this is aimed at newborns. Because it is unlikely to work and I'm not sure how setting people up to fail is supporting parents.

It's only shocking because I'm used to a more honest and level headed view on here. It can see that sort of article appearing on lots of websites - but I just didn't think MN would be one Confused

DonkeyOaty · 06/08/2016 20:04

Right

Her final point about don't play pass the parcel is s good 'un

The rest of it - erm, nope

ridiculouspirate · 06/08/2016 20:07

I read it and thought it was MN being tongue-in-cheek. I read to the end looking for the punchline. Shockingly bad advice, especially in terms of feeding schedules- trying to schedule my then newborn's breast feeds nearly sent me over the edge and I thought I was doing it all wrong because of bad advice like this.

Wtaf?! Don't carry your baby? They "need" to be swaddled?

Confused
DonkeyOaty · 06/08/2016 20:21

Mindful of erm ahem SWMNBM I have asked HQ to take a gander at this thread and maybe also the FB page

Thelastusername · 06/08/2016 20:23

Doesn't swaddling go against SIDS guidelines?

J0kersSmile · 06/08/2016 20:23

God I feel so outdated when I see reactions like these on threads.

I really don't see whats wrong with any of that advice and I basically did that with my dc ten years ago.

StealthPolarBear · 06/08/2016 20:24

Feed every four hours and make sure your baby's nice and full after every feed so the don't snack?
Yes that's the opposite of the advice I had on here 9 years ago.

ridiculouspirate · 06/08/2016 20:27

I posted to ask about it. Never thought of reporting the thread.

If only I wasn't sitting feeding my baby to sleep and doing it all Wrong maybe my brain would work.

dogdrifts · 06/08/2016 20:28

FoxesSitOnBoxes · 06/08/2016 20:29

Ugh. This is awful awful advice

Flossiesmummy · 06/08/2016 20:36

Surely this is satirical?

It should be titled "the definitive list of total bollocks parenting advice"

ridiculouspirate · 06/08/2016 20:38

I'm liking your party in my head Flossie

It's appalling. Point them to this thread. Babies rarely self settle unless you leave them to cry to sleep in my opinion... And who wants to do that?
It's lovely cuddling them, letting no them nurse to sleep. It's all so fleeting! And as for feeding to a routine.. Oh shut up.
Is anyone complaining to MN? Pls do!

ridiculouspirate · 06/08/2016 20:42

I posted in site stuff as well in case no one noticed this one. ..or the Facebook comments.
