Not to worry, LTH!

Keep trying!

Have you tried leaning a bit forward when you pump?

That helps at first.

SoupDragon · 19/01/2007 16:14

I could only express if I was concentrating on something else entirely. Like MNing and typing one handed

sweetkitty · 19/01/2007 16:16

Well done LTH keep it going your boobs will soon produce more

Are you thinking of latching him on at all or are you just happy with the expressing?

One of my proudest Mummy moments was when the MW weighed week old DD2 and she had put on one whole pound just from being fed my milk (fingers up to my Mother who said my milk would never do such a big baby)!!

LadyTophamHatt · 19/01/2007 16:18

sillicone thing off now.

tryng again.....

Tutter · 19/01/2007 16:21

soupy, you have an urge to drive to deliver a hug

i have an urge to drive down there and help guide breast and baby safely together

good on you lth - even if you don't manage with the latch, how lovely that he's had some of your milk

LadyTophamHatt · 19/01/2007 16:29

Still waiting for the MW to call back about it all actually.

I'd be happy to express or do it direct. Just not sure if I can do it direct....

Have you been in touch w/an NCT counsellor?

One of them saved my bfing!

She sat down w/me and dd2 for hours to make sure she was getting on properly.

LadyTophamHatt · 19/01/2007 16:35

I haven't yet Expat, but I will.
Didn't really expect to have any success thi smorning so it's all been abit of a surprise

Oh well done LadyTophamHatt, what a sense of achievement you must feel

expatinscotland · 19/01/2007 16:37

Still plenty of time to get him latched, LTH.

I've known people who didn't bf the first week of their child's life and went on to become successful bf'ers.

hunkermunker · 19/01/2007 16:42

Oh, brilliant, LTH!

If you want a chat on MSN later, I should be about - just nudge me. Or email me.

You're fab - and your delight is tangible!

Flower3554 · 19/01/2007 16:44

Can I also add that the baby we were caring for just before Christmas stayed with us for almost two weeks before he went home to his Mum and she is happily breastfeeding away exclusively now.

She was so worried that the LO wouldn't take to her breast as he had been feeding part formula part expressed breastmilk but almost always from a bottle.

LadyTophamHatt · 19/01/2007 16:47

Still only 1/2 ounce. Boobs are soft again now so I assume there isn't much else to come out......

Maybe I'll be more successful in the morning or after a bath.

(HOOOO-RAHHHH Dh a has just this minute gone out for the night....christ almighty hes doing my head in. I've still got to suffer 6 dayys of him here yet.....uuugghhhhh)

Miaou · 19/01/2007 16:53

Aw LTH, is he hinderful rather than helpful??

Congrats on what you ahve managed to express today!! It's more than I've ever managed in one go so you're one up on me!!

Glad hunker has seen this - you've got my support on msn anytime but though I b/f all three of mine I'm not quite sure how ... [dippy emoticon] ... think she'd be much more useful!!

misdee · 19/01/2007 16:58

i think i have some milk storage bags here if you want them?

Mumpbump · 19/01/2007 17:02

I had to take paracetamol and ibuprofen directly after ds' birth and the m/w said it was fine to bf whilst taking them...

SoupDragon · 19/01/2007 17:02

Just because they're soft doesn't mean there's nothing there

hunkermunker · 19/01/2007 17:06

How do you feel, LTH?

Do you want to bfeed him?

Are you happy to give him what you can express when you have time to express and ff the rest of the time?

How important is it to you that you bfeed?

I'm going out now, but have a think and I'll talk to you later if you're around.

You're fab, you know that?

LadyTophamHatt · 19/01/2007 17:07

I bought some of those breast shell thingies earlier to collect the milk in my bra.

can i mix that with the bit I expressed??

God, you're all going to be utterly sick of me...it'll be questions question questions....

I always forgetthe 'rules' about milk storage. LLL has a good resource. Hang on...

Ceolas · 19/01/2007 17:10

here

LadyTophamHatt · 19/01/2007 17:10

I feel on cloud 9 Hunker. I'm so chuffed i managed to get that much this morning. abit dissappointed I wasn't so successful just now but hey-ho.

I'd love to exclusively BF but with the trouble i had before I'm not too hopeful. I will do it if I can though, without a doubt I'll do it if it works....
I'd be more than happy to express what I can and formula feed the rest of the time.

Mumpbump · 19/01/2007 17:10

I used to stick the EBM in the fridge and top it up with the next batch which I expressed on the same day. As far as I know, it never did ds any harm!

SoupDragon · 19/01/2007 17:10

Yes, you can mix the "shell milk" with the expressed stuff.

IIRC you can add to the milk in the fridge but the 24 hours (?) starts from the time of first bit.

And you ask away
