There is so much conflicting advice and wondered what all your experiences are and the pro and cons of each for the baby and for us ?

Is there conflicting advice?

The official advice is always to BF unless there's a good reason not to. So I would aim for that.

Leaving aside the emotive health and well being arguments, once established you can't beat bf for convenience. Minimal faff no equipment, nothing to remember when you go out.

That said I did find it a bit anxiety provoking being the only source of food, (lots of late night what if I went under a bus types thoughts). So I made sure that from 8 weeks on she would take a bottle, initially of expressed bm, then formula. The big benefit of this was being able to leave her for more than 2hours. I only did it occasionally (hated expressing) but was v comforting to know I could.

I love bfing. It is almost magical watching her grow being fed on nothing but stuff that comes out of me. Also you get an insane number of points on weightwatchers.

Why no OP return??

I imagine it's because they expected to create a shitstorm which hasn't quite materialised.
