Here's a fresh thread!

Let's start by introducing us/babies again Grin

Thanks writer wannabe. The sleepyhead is, as my DH said, like a mattress dinghy so the baby sleeps in / on it. I got it today and it fitted fairly snugly round him And he fell asleep fairly quickly ( he was already half asleep to be fair). It makes them feel cuddled but also protects them and as my lo doesn't really like his Moses basket I am hoping he will like this

I'm up for the first time tonight for a nappy change (poo) and what seems to be a quick feed so I hope heis settled enough Togo back to sleep

Hope everyone else is ok and getting some uninterrupted sleep!

Cannotbelieveit · 22/09/2014 02:51

Well he went nearly 7 hours so not too bad, just feeding now and hoping this will see him through until at least 7am!

AuntieMaggie · 22/09/2014 02:53

first feed here so 4.5 hours sleep...

writer my ds loves bathing with me too but he has such a screaming fit when he gets out I sometimes wonder if it's worth it - tonight he drew blood and I've got a nice scratch on my face!

Cannotbelieveit · 22/09/2014 03:07

He's back in his cot asleep Grin

OliviaRinHerts · 22/09/2014 03:10

Ohhhh- I like the sound of 7 hrs...... 41/2 hrs......

Ds grizzled when I put him down so fed him again and it looks like he is now asleep ! Yay!

Cannotbelieveit · 22/09/2014 05:36

It'll happen eventually Olivia! My DS used to regularly do 9-11 hours and then the sleep regression hit bang on 4 months!

DH is so noisy in bed that he's woken DS so I'm feeding again now as left him to babble for half hour and he's still wide awake Shock

OP posts:
Writerwannabe83 · 22/09/2014 05:59

I've been listening to mine babble but after ten minutes it escalated to crying. I went over, picked him up and he grabbed my face and started manically sucking on my chin so I assumed he was hungry. It's only been 4 hours since he was last up and feeding but he's having a good one again. After his week of really poor feeding he seems to be making up for it now. I may keep him in bed with me when he's finished as I don't think he will go back to sleep in his cot, he is WIDE awake Confused

OliviaRinHerts · 22/09/2014 07:32

My lo has been babbling off and on since about 330am. The noises mine makes are crazy. Sometimes sweet... Sometimes like a neigh of a horse.... Babbling as well as snuffling, grunting. I guess on one hand I am quite glad I have a noisy baby so I can always here him, but I do worry.

This morning after feeding, lo starting choking ...on milk I guess. I think it is fairly common but it's scares me! He coughs the choke away but my heart stops for a second.

Cannotbelieveit · 22/09/2014 08:25

Well DS slept til 8.15am so I managed to get DS1's breakfast and mine done. Going to persevere with the cot naps today Shock

Writerwannabe83 · 22/09/2014 08:33

olivia - I know what you mean about the momentary panic when they start choking on their milk!! DD still does it now (6months old) and I still panic Grin

cannot - isn't it lovely when they have a later wake up!! I kept DS in bed with me after his 6am feed and although he didn't drop off again until 6.30 we've had another two hours sleep.

I still feel shattered though!!

Mitsufishi · 22/09/2014 08:35

cannotbelieveit keep posted on cot naps. What are you trying? Mine just will not nap in her bed no matter what.

Sammyviv · 22/09/2014 08:45

Olivia my DS makes all the noises you describe and all night! I guess it's good he's not crying but I feel like he has a disturbed sleep. I was up pretty much all night with him. I wish I knew what the gurgling was about and how to get him to sleep more restfully
DP complimented me this morning saying he doesn't know how I do it.

Cannotbelieveit · 22/09/2014 08:46

Mitsu napping in the day in his cot as he's really refusing naps at the minute!

OP posts:
Cannotbelieveit · 22/09/2014 08:47

I'm putting gro bag on and leaving him when he's been awake 2-3 hours to get him used to napping in there. He seems to sleep for at least an hour if I can get him to sleep in their during the day

Sammy I read that babies sleep differently and spend more time in lighter sleep and they are developing during this time. You'll get used to the noises - I only respond to ds if he's crying or choking at night.

on that note ds went back to bed at about 5:30 but was sick at 6 so wide awake so I bought him in with me and we got another hour. not sure I'm sleeping with him in the safest way though - my arm around him under his head....

OliviaRinHerts · 22/09/2014 09:40

Sammyviv - DP should compliment you! You are doing brilliantly. ... And all credit to you being on your own yesterday. When ds was one week I was crying every day thinking I couldn't cope and the Breastfeeding was so difficult I was nearly giving up

I also wanted to mention that my DH went to football after the first week and again yesterday as he was offered a free ticket so how could he refuse eh! Just so many similarities between our boys! Lol

mrsmugoo · 22/09/2014 09:48

Morning all. DS slept 7:30-6:30 with a feed at about 3:15

I went to bed at 9:30 (couldn't even stay awake for Downton - oh how times have changed!) so I slept solidly from 10-3 and then 3:30-6:30 so I feel refreshed today! DH did the early shift is I dozed until 8:30 but couldn't get back to sleep properly - my body must think it's Christmas if I've clocked up 8 hours over the night!

DS is napping now and my MIL is on her way over today to help try to get DS drinking milk from his sippy cup and eating solids and to get to know his routine more in preparation for going back to work.

I'm having a full body massage later!

Writerwannabe83 · 22/09/2014 09:58

Is MIL going to help with looking after him when you go back to work?

I pumped off 3oz yesterday in order to put in his sippy cup today. I keep meaning to use his cup everyday so he can improve on his technique but I just keep forgetting Confused

Writerwannabe83 · 22/09/2014 10:02

mitsufishi - Your favourite poster has appeared on a thread about breastfeeding babies to sleep. I watch with excitement Smile

Cannotbelieveit · 22/09/2014 10:11

Ooh must look for that thread!!

OP posts:
Cannotbelieveit · 22/09/2014 10:17

Where is it writer?

OP posts:
Writerwannabe83 · 22/09/2014 10:35

AIBU - she has only made one post though. I'm hoping someone will respond to her and start an argument Grin

KateTheShrew · 22/09/2014 10:35

Morning all! Well, after the screaming incident we actually had a pretty good night. DS slept until about 12:15 and then 3.45 and didn't wake up for the day until 7.15. 2 night feeds is more than he needs (and more than I'd ideally like to be doing), but he and I both went back to sleep quickly each time, so I feel a bit more rested today. It's a good job as I go back to work tomorrow(!!) (just 2 days per week, so not too big a shock) and DH will be looking after the baby.

writer I do wonder if you might be right about the night terrors, even though it's rare in so young a baby, but I don't think it's reflux as he's never had it before and I think it would be unusual for it to start at 8 months. He definitely seems to have better nights when I can manage not to let him fall asleep at the breast, so I'm trying to persevere with that. It's soooo difficult though and at 3am I'll basically do anything to get us both back to sleep so I often give in. I probably shouldn't look at that 'feeding to sleep' thread, it will either make me feel bad or give me the rage!

mrsmugoo · 22/09/2014 10:40

Writer - for the first few months the grannies are taking turns to look after him when I start back (2 days a week) but eventually when he's a year he'll be 2 days a week in nursery and then alternative Fridays with each granny (I'll be upping to 3 days a week)
