Here's a fresh thread!

Let's start by introducing us/babies again Grin

OP posts:
Sammyviv · 20/09/2014 02:53

I'm awake which means so is DS, he gave me a good 3 hours again, it's just this bit we are a bit rubbish at, I'll probs get half hour here and there now. I try to keep him awake while he feeds but he often drops off.
Does anyone else find if they put them down before they are on that real real deep sleep they won't settle? DS has to be milk drunk and sparko before I even think of putting him down, I have so much more patience for this during the day.

Sammyviv · 20/09/2014 02:59

Cariad - oz very nice and very brave with a baby! I just mean the journey too. But at least now a days they encourage you to get up and walk about so your coxis should have a safe and pleasant flight.
Just googled twunt.... Brilliant GrinGrin

DD always seems to be awake for ages after this feed. Takes me about two hours to get her back off. Maybe I should get her before she wakes up so has the boob really sleepily and drifts back off? Anxious to mess with her good nighttime stretch (usually does between five and six hours).

OliviaRinHerts · 20/09/2014 03:52

I'm awake and now b. feeding ds but it's not been bad..DH did a ff at 1130 so I could go to sleep early (!) but he woke me at 1230 and said ds was STILl hungry (is that possible after100 ml of formula?)

Anyway a very quick suckle on the boob at 1230 and he then went 3 hours so it is pretty good! Just got to stretch that to 4 hours and I'll be happy

I'm in the same boat though. Moving himfrom the boob to basket might disturb him too much which is why I'm hoping that john lewis has that product "sleepy head" as want / need that this weekend

Are you still up sammyviv? Any one else?

OliviaRinHerts · 20/09/2014 04:01

Mitsufishi- I'm worried too that ds won't settle after this feed- we are normally up too for a while. Just tried other boob and he is asleep so not interested but he is back in Moses basket and he seems wide awake so let's see How long I can leave him before he stArts to scream !

Good luck!

DS woke me up half an hour ago for a feed which seeing as it had been 9 hours since his last one I didn't mind. He's now back in his cot and is wide awake like he ALWAYS is after this feed. Sometimes it can take him up to 1.5 hours to go back to sleep and it drains me!!! Usually I end up bringing him in bed with me out of desperation but that's a habit I want to break.

In the meantime I'm just avoiding eye contact with him although I can see him peering at me through the bars of the cot Confused

DS is still asleep but annoyingly I am not! It's a muggy night and he insists on sleeping pasted against me to the extent that it's me who is almost in the cot!

dilys4trevor · 20/09/2014 04:25

I'm up!

I wouldn't dream of trying to put DD down without her being milk-drunk/asleep! It just doesn't work for her. Sammy, your baby is still v young too (mine isn't much older - 4.5 weeks) so don't worry about DS needing to be milk drunk before he goes down. I think I've always done that in the early days, with all mine. In fact, I'm not sure I put any of mine down awake until they were 6 months or something.

Writerwannabe83 · 20/09/2014 04:33

My DD is almost 6 months and it's only been over the last 2-3 weeks that I've been able to put him down in his cot when he's awake - I usually wait until he has passed out from his feed. Even on the occasions where he is placed in his cot whilst awake it's still 50/50 as to whether he will go to sleep or start crying.

It's gone very quiet and I can't hear any movements from the cot. I'm going to go over and take a look - fingers crossed he's asleep!!

Writerwannabe83 · 20/09/2014 04:38

He's drifting off whilst sniffing a Muslin Smile

I'm going to pop my eye mask on and try and get some sleep Smile

Sorry I deserted you all but DS went back to sleep and only just woke up Grin

Writerwannabe83 · 20/09/2014 07:58

DS went another 3 hours and now we are both awake. I love the fact he goes to bed earlier at night but I don't like the early morning wake ups!! I pine for the days he'd sleep until 9-10am as it meant I got a lovely lie in every morning.

I'm trying to keep him entertained in the bedroom until 8am as DH is in the spare room as he's quite unwell, and the spare room is opposite the living room. I don't want to disturb him by taking a loud playful DS into the room opposite him as I know DS will wake DH.

I have got an appointment with a beautician later this morning to have my eye lashes tinted and have a pedicure - I used to go all the time pre-DS but I haven't been since he was born!! The plan was that I was going to take DH with me do he could entertain DS during my treatments (it's in the ladies house) or he could take DS for a walk in his pushchair to enable me to enjoy my treatments in the peace and quiet. I guess that won't be happening now Sad

mrsmugoo · 20/09/2014 08:33

Good morning all - finally some sleep for me last night! A well needed 6 hour stretch from 10-4 when DS woke me from the deepest of sleeps for a feed.
Only trouble was he WIDE AWAKE after being fed - coming off the boob and grinning up at me is never a good sign! So I put him in the cot and just left him to it. There was 10 minutes of crying but he finally settled just before 5 and slept until 7ish.

Writer - I can't believe you've had 9/10am lie ins with a baby! I've not slept past 8am since!!

Writerwannabe83 · 20/09/2014 09:37

I can't believe you think 10 minutes worth of crying is 'wide awake' Grin Grin Try listening to them singing and humming for 1.5 hours..... Grin

It was great when he slept until that time. He'd go from 10pm-6am, have a feed, go straight back to sleep and sleep until 10am-ish. It was lovely!!!! Grin

That was before it all went wrong.....

I try not to reminisce though as it could bring me to tears Grin

mrsmugoo · 20/09/2014 09:51

Oh no it was nearly an hour of cooing, singing, thrashing and banging arms and legs before the crying!

I'm VERY lucky as DS has never been a crier, especially in the night. He grizzles and grumps when he's tired/hungry/needs a change of scenery but he's never been a crier.

mrsmugoo · 20/09/2014 09:56

A baby who sleeps 10-10 is great for a lie-in I suppose but you don't get an evening and it'll be murder to change their routine when you go back to work and need them to be up by 7 for nursery.

I'm pretty happy that he's naturally gravitated to 7-7 more or less.

Anyone else dreading the clocks changing????Confused

Writerwannabe83 · 20/09/2014 09:58

Thankfully he's on a 7.30pm-7.30am regime now but I do miss my lie-ins Grin

When is the clock change??

mrsmugoo · 20/09/2014 10:00

October 26 - go back an hour so 7am becomes 6am and suddenly our babies are on a 6-6 regime - Ewww!
