Part 3!

Quick recap - DS, 17 weeks, EBF (stubborn little bottle refuser), crap sleeper! Super knackered Mummy, surviving on 1-2 hour sleeps :(

So I am hoping for a better night tonight seeing as bedtime went smoothly. Last night was hideous and I've eaten a twirl, a bounty and a salted caramel brownie today just to get through the day!

In a way I'm looking forward to it - DD is a very noisy sleeper! Grin

Writerwannabe83 · 10/07/2014 15:13

But if you have intercoms surely you'd still hear the noise?! Grin

I imagine a crackly and static version of the noise coming out of an intercom would annoy me more than hearing the baby do it next to me Grin

Batmam · 10/07/2014 15:34

I read that as 'intercourse' Writer ??

I need more sleep!

Writerwannabe83 · 10/07/2014 16:39

Intercourse....

What's that?? Grin

missbluebird · 10/07/2014 18:42

Used to be 20 minutes away from sleep at this time last week... I didn't know how lucky I was..looking like it could be hours he is so awake. I can't even pass him to DH to walk him to sleep as he's out. I've put him in front of the tv as I'm too tired from last night to bounce him anymore. When I was pregnant I said no TV till DS is 3 years...didn't last long!

Writerwannabe83 · 10/07/2014 18:47

I bet we all said a lot if things when we were pregnant Grin I remember being adamant that I wouldn't use a dummy....

DS doesn't go down for the night until 9-9.30ish. He has however randomly just fell asleep....I doubt it will last long though as FIL is coming round shortly and he isn't known for being quiet Hmm

missbluebird · 10/07/2014 19:05

I've created an EBF baby who won't take a dummy or a bottle. I totally regret it!

Ooh I'd go ballistic if FIL woke up a sleeping baby!

mrsmugoo · 10/07/2014 19:31

He's down, although he took a pitiful feed before falling fast asleep and wouldn't even take the other side.

So I'm sure he'll be awake in half an hour. Or 5 hours. Who knows - babies are weird!!

Writerwannabe83 · 10/07/2014 20:41

bluebird - my DS took a dummy from 4 weeks of age (On HV advice) but when he hit about 10 weeks old he refused point blank to take it and hasn't since - he's now 16 weeks.

He woke up about 5 mind after FIL arrived. He's had his bath and now doing his bedtime feed.

I hope you get the 5 hours mrsmugoo Smile

Cariad007 · 10/07/2014 21:08

Hah, I stick DS in front of CBeebies and YouTube just so I can eat my lunch. It's never for more than 10 mins at a time and I don't think it does any harm. He loses interest pretty quickly anyway!

He managed a long nap this afternoon and is tired and grouchy again but not realised that the solution is SLEEP!

FrankelandFilly · 10/07/2014 21:10

Interesting article on baby sleep here

missbluebird · 10/07/2014 21:20

I have no idea what my basis for banning TV was in the first place. He stares at the lights on his play gym for five mins a time, the TV is practically the same Wink he prefers sport to cbeebies though (my DH loves this!) it's the green grass he loves.

We're supposed to be going on holiday next week. The pressure / stress of getting DS to not only sleep but also not wake the rest of my family is going to push me over the edge. Another idea that seemed a good one when pregnant.

Then there's the problem of getting enough sleep for my brain to function enough to pack.

missbluebird · 10/07/2014 21:21

Cariad...how do they not get it...you're tired go yo sleep. Simple!

KateTheShrew · 10/07/2014 21:24

Thanks Frank, that is interesting. I definitely have an 'alert' baby!

Got him down about half an hour ago after one false start. Let's see what the night brings... God luck all!

FrankelandFilly · 10/07/2014 21:26

DD has only been exposed to sport on tv so far - Royal Ascot, Wimbledon and the Tour de France Grin She loves the movement and colours!

I think the issue with babies and sleep is that they don't understand that they are tired, they just know they feel "wrong" and their solution is to cry. I know I'm guilty of missing sleep cues, the problem is the first few times she yawns she doesn't "look" tired, so I think I'll give it another 10 minutes before putting her down.

Writerwannabe83 · 10/07/2014 21:48

Well DS was fast asleep by 9pm which is good for him.

He had an absolute monster feed before I put him down, 15 minutes on each breast, so I'm hoping that will see him through until about 3am. Going 6 hours seems to be his norm now Smile

puggywug81 · 10/07/2014 22:37

Yay cariad glad u got the flat sorted.

Batmam · 10/07/2014 22:39

Bluebird I've spend today trying to pack for a weekend away too but no chance as DS has been feeding all day. Literally ALL DAY! Think we've hit the 6 week growth spurt a little early. Never seen anything like it!

johull · 10/07/2014 23:09

Mrs- my friend had to move DD to her husbands side of the bed because baby thought milk bar was open all night. Maybe try that.

missbluebird · 11/07/2014 03:08

I'm impressed you are going away before 6 weeks. I could barely get out of the house on my own until 2 months. Hope you managed to get packed up tomorrow. I once had a day of feeding followed by a day of sleeping so hoping that happens for you Smile

The milk bar certainly is open all night in my house. It has just occurred to me that the 3 of us will be sharing a room for the first time next week (DH has slept in spare room for 4 months - don't blame him!) so can make the most of having another pair of hands in the middle of the night.

Post seems quiet tonight so I hope that means you and all your babies are sleeping ??

Writerwannabe83 · 11/07/2014 05:37

He went 8.5 hours!!!

Shock Shock

Cannotbelieveit · 11/07/2014 06:02

8 hours here!! Just feeding now, he stirred at 2.30 but put his soothie in a shushed and he went back to sleep!
However his nappy was pretty much dry? He always produces wet nappies (dirty nappies every day is two). Shall keep an eye on him he's fine in every other way

Writerwannabe83 · 11/07/2014 06:08

I have the same issue cannot in that no matter how long DS sleeps for overnight his nappy is never that wet when I change him. However, when it comes to doing his second nappy, usually 3-4 hours later, it will be soaked!

DS has now gone back to sleep after his feed so I'm going to try for another few hours myself Smile

Cannotbelieveit · 11/07/2014 06:43

Yes writer I've noticed that! All the day nappies are soaked!! Maybe these boys will be a dream to potty train! Haha! We are only getting one dirty nappy every day or two also! Feel so human after that 8 hours. SW at 9 will see if I have lost anymore weight Shock

Cannotbelieveit · 11/07/2014 06:45

How long does baby writer feed for? Apart from his before bed feed, Ryder seems to be done in 10-15 mins now. I guess only the scales will tell on Monday!
