I think to start the new thread off we should reintroduce ourselves and our babies for the sake of our own memories and also for any newbies who may join Smile

I have a 10 week old DS who is EBF. Has been sleeping through the night for the last week and I'm just waiting patiently for things to go downhill as I'm sure they will Smile

Wow seriously, 4.5 followed by 3.5 even if he didn't go back down now I'd be happy with that sleep.

Cannotbelieveit · 08/06/2014 06:13

And he's up again now with the fullest nappy ever!

mrsmugoo · 08/06/2014 06:37

Up for the day here, he managed another 45 minutes so he's now kicking around in his play gym and I'm having a cuppa.

Have a good day everyone, happy napping!

KateTheShrew · 08/06/2014 09:35

Bother! Just wrote longish post and lost it Angry

Summary:

Woohoo! mugoo! Sounds like you had a great night. So pleased for you, hope it's the start of a better phase.

We had a pretty good night too! Down at 8.30ish, fed at 11.30, 3am and then 6.15 and up for the day (that really counts as just one night waking, right?) Anyway, as usual I had major problems getting back to sleep after the 3am feed, but DH took DS downstairs at 6.30 so I got another couple of hours then. Still loving the blackout curtains -- think they're responsible for longer stretch after 3am Smile

notadoctor · 08/06/2014 09:35

Congratulations Mugoo! It feels so nice when you have an unexpectedly good night.

We had a good night too - feeds at 1ish and 4ish and then up for the day just after 7am. Hope everyone else had good nights too!

We're off on a day out today - very happy to have the sunshine - although DS will probably snooze through it all, he almost always stays fast asleep in his sling whenever we're out somewhere fun and then wakes up as soon as we get home - he must think he never leaves the house!

DS is 10wks today - can't believe how fast the time is flying by!

Have lovely Sundays everyone.

notadoctor · 08/06/2014 09:40

Kate - just cross posted. I used to have problems getting back to sleep after a night waking too... Have you tried a couple of drops of lavender oil on your pillow? I also read up on deep relaxation techniques - shutting your eyes and focusing on gradually relaxing every part of your body. It sounds a bit airy fairy but it has really helped! Also, my insomniac best friend reccomended a really simple technique of just closing your eyes and counting backwards from 100. The aim is to clear your head completely. Simple but effective!

KateTheShrew · 08/06/2014 09:48

Thanks notadoctor, am willing to try anything -- airy fairy or otherwise Wink

I do the gradual relaxing thing, but probably not consistently enough. I'll try the lavender oil though, even if it doesn't work I will smell lovely Grin

puggywug81 · 08/06/2014 11:11

Morning all hope everyone has a lovely Sunday. Fin and me both have a cold so we're having a lazy day.Fin fed at 12 and 5 last night he was sleepy but unsettled wanting lots if cuddles bless him.

Glad you had a good night mrsmugoo you really deserve it I don't know how you've coped so long on so little sleep!

Writerwannabe83 · 08/06/2014 13:55

Bedtime feeding here. Going to attempt his first sleep of the night in the cot.

Writerwannabe83 · 08/06/2014 19:53

I'm doing bedtime feed here too - it would be heavenly to have him asleep before 8.30pm. I can still dream!!

OP posts:
mrsmugoo · 08/06/2014 20:28

DS is asleep in his cot! He's been asleep about 10 minutes. One false start because he hadn't fed enough.

I'm sitting in bed with a camomile tea and a bunch of grapes not having to worry about a sleeping baby right next to me in case the bed creeks if I move.

I think I will probably bring him in with me later, but small steps.

Cannotbelieveit · 08/06/2014 20:41

Trying to do the last feed of the night but he's being a nightmare! Fussing on and off the breast too!! He's been winded enough so DH has taken him for a bit! I just want my bed!!! Early start tomorrow as well for weighing clinic Shock

Cariad007 · 08/06/2014 20:44

So do you all have a bedtime of around 730ish for your babies? How did you manage that? I haven't even tried to impose a bedtime on DS as he only feeds to sleep and tends to startle himself awake if I attemot to put him in the crib. It's weird - at night he will stay in the crib but during the day if I put him in it he wakes in 5-10 minutes. It's so frustrating!

FrankelandFilly · 08/06/2014 20:51

I aim to have DD in bed for about 7 though tonight she was in bed at 6.30 as she was over tired. It's probably easier for me as I'm FF but I start winding things down at about 5pm. She has a feed and at 6pm I'll either get her ready for a bath or give her a massage (I'm only bathing every other day at the moment). I then take her into our room, having already put up the black out blinds and drawn the curtains, pop her in her sleeping bag, give her another small feed before having a cuddle/singing her a few lullabies then putting her down in her cot. She usually falls asleep within 15-20 mins and will sleep till I go to bed at about 10pm.

I know I'm lucky to have a baby that settles so well but I think it is also down to routine. I try not to let her sleep after about 4.30pm so I know she is tired when I out her down. It doesn't always work like that though - yesterday she napped from 3.30pm till 6pm as I didn't have the heart to wake her up!

Writerwannabe83 · 08/06/2014 20:53

DS has a bath at 7pm then we retire into the dark and quiet bedroom for his feed. However, he's very rarely asleep before 9.30pm as he just likes to play around in his MB, or like tonight he is grizzly with wind.

Even though I know he won't sleep until this time I still start bedtime routine at 7 so as he gets older he will understand that bath time = bedtime. That's the plan anyway Smile

Cariad007 · 08/06/2014 20:54

Wow that sounds like dream! If I tried that with DS he'd just scream non-stop for hours :( He is still awak and feeding now but doesn't look in the least bit sleepy.

Cannotbelieveit · 08/06/2014 21:01

Finally feeding DS! He's calmed down. I might try this last feed in the bedroom from tomorrow. Trying to learn to listen to his cries to see what they mean after reading the baby whisperer but its hard as DS1 rarely ever cried!! This is all new to us!!

notadoctor · 08/06/2014 21:10

Our DS doesn't have a bedtime yet. He joins in with bedtime routine with DD - bath, massage, stories and snuggles - but when she goes to bed he comes downstairs with us and we play/ cuddle - and he usually does a fair bit of cluster feeding! I then take him up to bed with me at 9.30ish and he feeds to sleep. The evening slot is the only time DH and I get spend with just DS on his own so I'm reluctant to get him to bed any earlier just yet - I'm planning on starting when he's 6months and moves to his own room.

Have come up to bed a bit early tonight as we've been on a big family day out so I'm shattered!

Hope everyone has a peaceful night!

Cannotbelieveit · 08/06/2014 21:41

Well he's in his cot now so tonight I place bets on him being up at 1ish!

Cannotbelieveit · 08/06/2014 21:45

Notadoctor I agree I think ds2 is too young for us to combine bedtime with ds1! I wouldn't get any time with DH so for now bedtime is between 9-10pm. This is what we did with ds1 and we slowly moved it earlier and his bedtime was 7pm by 5-6 months old. He still does 7-7 now.

Cariad007 · 08/06/2014 22:06

Ugh, after 10pm and he's still wide awake!

Writerwannabe83 · 08/06/2014 22:16

DS has finally fell asleep 3 hours after bedtime routine began.
I feel exhausted.

He's a little bugger at bedtime - he always looks so, so tired but just refuses to sleep.

OP posts:
Cariad007 · 08/06/2014 22:36

Same here - DS gets super tired and cranky but has yet to realise that sleep is the solution. Anyway he's finally asleep so will attempt a crib transfer in a few minutes...

mrsmugoo · 08/06/2014 22:42

Up for a feed here, lasted 2.5 hours. I knew yesterday was a fluke!
