I think to start the new thread off we should reintroduce ourselves and our babies for the sake of our own memories and also for any newbies who may join Smile

I have a 10 week old DS who is EBF. Has been sleeping through the night for the last week and I'm just waiting patiently for things to go downhill as I'm sure they will Smile

Grizzling is different to full on crying MrsM. I think all babies grizzle at times and if what you're doing is sleep training, then it's a very mild form - it certainly doesn't sound like controlled crying.
try not to beat yourself up - it sounds like you've all had a bit more sleep over the last couple of days and that can't be a bad thing.

Writerwannabe83 · 05/07/2014 21:16

Hello everyone - and thank you to all who sent their well wishes. The funeral was very hard, very upsetting but at the same time it really was a celebration of her life. Me and DH both stood up to read out our own personal speeches about our memories of her and it was lovely.

It was a bit manic for DS yesterday as my parents were practically looking after him all day and I just fed him when needed. He fell asleep at 11pm, woke again at 05.30 for a quick feed and then slept for another few hours.

He has slept quite a lot today, two naps of about 45 minutes each and another 3 hour long sleep.

I've just done his bedtime feed and put him into his Crib where he is grizzling but he always does this as he's dropping off!!

Hi Writer - sendings hugs!

20th - the grizzles have been cries at times, but if I pick him up he cries even more anyway. He seems to get really pissed off being "babied" now and won't be held cradle style or rocked anymore so leaving him to cry in the cot is actually getting to the end game quicker, if just doesn't feel like that at the time. I think a mothers instinct is always to try to something, anything to stop the cries. Just leaving them feels so wrong.

He's just gone back off to sleep on his own after a grizzle. He went down at 7:30 and was up at 10:40

I really hope he's goes at least 3 hours now.

mrsmugoo · 06/07/2014 01:56

He's back down after another feed...

mrsmugoo · 06/07/2014 05:04

Feeding again! Tough call - do I attempt to get him back in his cot or just stick him in with me now?

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 06/07/2014 05:26

I'm feeding DD and debating the same question as I doubt she'll go back to sleep now. Although to be fair she will usually lie and kick round in her cot peacefully for 30 mins or so, so I might just do that and hope for the best!

I just finished feeding DS. He went 7 hours so an improvement on how he has been these days. By the time he woke up it had been 9 hours since his last feed so he's had a super long one and I'm waiting for him to drop off again. He's kicking his legs around and gurgling to himself though so it could be a while.

I hate feeds at this time of the morning because it just seems too light to justify me trying to get done more sleep Hmm

Well miracle of miracles he did sleep in his it until just gone 7 so we got up for the day then.

I'm really hoping naps go better today!

Writerwannabe83 · 06/07/2014 10:06

Things seem to be getting so much better for you missmugoo

DS fell back asleep quite quickly and slept for another 4 hours!!

We have only both just got up and it's a gorgeous day outside.
Perfect Smile

DS didn't settle til, about 11 last night but when he did he slept for 2 long stretches and didn't wake til after 9 this morning. Unfortunately I think that is mostly to do with the doses of Calpol I gave him for his teething fever yesterday. Tonight it'll be back to up every 2 hours I'm sure :(

puggywug81 · 06/07/2014 11:08

Sending you hugs writer.

Fin had a restless night, he was warm and full of farts!

Writerwannabe83 · 06/07/2014 21:28

Just feeding DS now in the hope he will be asleep by 10pm as he then tends to go through until about 5.30am.

He's had a half hour nap this morning, followed by a 2.5 hour sleep this afternoon and then another half hour nap this evening.

I'm crossing my fingers for a good night, he's certainly been better these last few nights.

Well 9th night in a row of 6+ hours, mostly it's been 7-8 hours with that random 9 hours on Thursday night. Really hope it carries on Grin

mrsmugoo · 07/07/2014 08:29

Oh cannot that's amazing!

I think Edward was asleep by about 7:30 and he fed at 11:30, 2:30 and 5:30 and he even went back to sleep until about 7:30. He self soothed every single time! I'm able to guide his fingers into his mouth now to speed the process up. I've also given him a little piece of muslin as he likes to scrunch it and rub it against his face. I cut one up so he wouldn't get a whole muslin stuck over his face and not be able to take it off.

A massive result for us from a few days of controlled crying.

Cannotbelieveit · 07/07/2014 10:15

That's great news MrsM! I'm still sometimes feeding to sleep, need to let him start settling himself, however it's a balance of not letting him make enough noise to wake ds1!

snoozysleeper · 07/07/2014 11:07

Wow *mrsm that's good news

cannot I can't get my LO to sleep without feeding to sleep firsr

I have a Moses basket in bedroom which he sleeps in at night and during day I use a sleepyhead bed in the living room for naps. But LO refuses to sleep in sleepyhead for his naps.....I put him down and he sleeps for 10-20 mins then wakes screaming but will sleep on me for a good 2 hours without disruption for daytime naps.

How do I break the cycle of him only wanting to sleep on me????
This happens at night too but not as bad...

Confused
mrsmugoo · 07/07/2014 11:16

How old is he? Tiny babies just want to sleep on their Mum! I only called time on letting him take ALL his naps on me at 14 weeks.

Writerwannabe83 · 07/07/2014 11:23

Morning all, I'm glad things are still improving mrsm Smile

DS was asleep by 10pm but then woke up at 4am. Still 6 hours I guess so I can't complain too much. I fed him quickly then just put him back in his Crib to fall asleep. I think I drifted off before he did. He then slept until 8am, fed and slept again until 10.30am.

We are now about to go for a walk to enjoy the sunshine Smile

snoozysleeper · 07/07/2014 12:38

Oh he's 7 weeks , should have said, I'll wait longer then ..thank you mrsm but for future reference how did you go about stopping the naps on you?

Enjoy the sunshine writer

I'm going to go for walk later and visit a park tomorrow Smile

johull · 07/07/2014 21:26

Snoozy- I have 7 month old too and she sleeps in her Moses in the living room day and in the bedroom in the dark at night... I'm saying try letting him sleep in his basket during the day but in a different room. My LO sleeps for 2-3 hours between feeds it's the same at night though tying to get it longer now. Hoping for 4 hours tonight...

johull · 07/07/2014 21:33

7weeks lol

Writerwannabe83 · 07/07/2014 22:23

DS was asleep by 9.30pm which is a big improvement on how he's been lately. He had a good 3 hour nap again today from 2-5pm. That seems to be his pattern now.

Although he is asleep he seems a bit restless and his stomach is gurgling so loudly so I'm anticipating him waking up in the near future due to wind and discomfort Sad

OP posts:
mrsmugoo · 08/07/2014 00:01

Snoozy - first I transferred him into his bouncer for naps so if the transfer woke him I could gently bounce him to lull him back off. But as of last Friday it's all sleeps in cot - no rocking or feeding to sleep allowed now. He's learnt to self soothe so that is what he needs to do now. He is 17 weeks though.

At 7 weeks though, I just did whatever it took to get the most sheep for me and him and that was naps in arms and co-sleeping.

mrsmugoo · 08/07/2014 00:02

DS is back asleep now after first feed. He lasted 7:30-11:30

Here's hoping he sleeps another decent block.
