I think to start the new thread off we should reintroduce ourselves and our babies for the sake of our own memories and also for any newbies who may join Smile

I have a 10 week old DS who is EBF. Has been sleeping through the night for the last week and I'm just waiting patiently for things to go downhill as I'm sure they will Smile

DS still asleep!!!! Weird! I wonder if he will even sleep much tonight once he's fed again.

I'm normally doing his last feed between 9-10pm yet he has been napping since 7pm. Shock

Just once I would like the bedtime feed to NOT be preceeded by a hysterical crying fit :(

On the upside the neighbours have turned their godawful music down...

cannot - I have been in that situation. I usually bath DS prior to bedtime at about 7.30pm and one day he'd fallen asleep at about 4pm and was still fast asleep at 7pm. I just didn't know what to do....leave him to sleep and just feed him and put him to bed once he's woken? Or wake him up, bath him, feed him and then back to bed.

Ultimately I made the decision to wake him - I was concerned that if I let I'm sleep for too long then he'd be awake all night.

However, after his bath and feed he actually went back to sleep quite nicely and his night time wakings were just as normal.

cariad - DS wasn't hysterical tonight but there was crying and the odd scream/yelp. Thankfully he fell asleep about 10 minutes ago and I'm hoping he stays that way. I'm always on edge....waiting and expecting him to spring back into life at any moment...

Writer I'm wondering if it's cos he had a bath at 6ish!! His last feed is between 9-10pm at the moment and then bed after it! He's still sound asleep now, will wake him soon I think! Partly cos I want to call it a night and go to bed myself!

Evening all. Had lovely family day and baby had some decent naps. She's also already excavated her poo explosion so hopefully no repeat of yesterday night. She was sound asleep but woke when I put her down and fiddled too much . Got her back off but trying to decide whether I dare put her in the crib again... what do you think?!

Report
Writerwannabe83 · 07/06/2014 22:10

I think you should - you've started it now so you need to continue. She needs to learn that the crib is where she sleeps now. It will only get confusing for her if things change from day to day Smile

Good point. And I should do it now before I get too tired to resettle her if necessary. Here goes nothing...

Agree you should try and stick with the crib Misty. I read that it takes babies 3-4 days to get used to a change in their routine. I also read that you should try to have different places for daytime and nighttime sleep - ie pram/bouncy chair for the day and crib/cot for the night to help teach them the difference between night and day.

DD had an epic 2.5 hour nap this afternoon, sleeping from 3.30 till just after 6. I put her to bed at 7.45 thinking she'd be a nightmare to put down because of her earlier nap but she went out like a light and is still asleep now! She must be having another growing day!

Report
Misty9 · 07/06/2014 22:26

that didn't quite go to plan. She sleeps on her front and it's very hard to transfer a sleeping baby onto their front without face planting them! She started rooting the crib, turned her over and now awake and chewing fists. Bloody brilliant.

Misty9 · 07/06/2014 22:27

She now seems to think it's kick about time Hmm

Report
Writerwannabe83 · 07/06/2014 22:31

They get so passionate during kick about time don't they??

It drives me mad when DS does it for half hour periods but the strength in his legs and the frantic excited look on his face just makes me inwardly giggle. All we can hear is the MB being battered from the inside and all the hinges creaking on the stand - I worry that one day he's going to make the whole thing fall over Smile

He is still asleep, so that's an hour now, but he keeps stirring and yelping then settling off again. I think he'll be up about 1.30am because his last feed was a lot earlier than normal - but we shall see. These babies are too unpredictable, all we can do is go with their flow Grin

Fed DS to sleep, put him in his crib and he awoke crying not even two minutes later! And to top it off our cranky upstairs neighbour started banging on the walls as she doesn't like next door's music so to piss her off they turned it up! Anyway DP had a word and they turned it down so let's hope there's no more banging tonight.

Woke DS and he fed for 20 mins and came off himself, going to attempt to put him to bed in a bit. He's 5 weeks today and his own "routine" is constantly changing!

Still awake.. :(

Report
Writerwannabe83 · 07/06/2014 23:25

Oh dear - does she show any signs of wanting to sleep??

I can't seem to switch off. I think it's because my DH is out tonight - it feels weird lying in bed on my own. DS has been asleep for two hours now and I know I should be sleeping too, but I just can't Hmm

Fed her to sleep and put her down again. Awake 2 minutes later. She'll be overtired soon and then I'll really be stuffed. Trying not to get angry but I think she's picking up on it :(
I've remembered why we were co sleeping...

Hey, I was on the previous thread. Dd 13 wks. Was sick and premature. Now well and a rapidly growing milk monster.

This week she's slept a few 5 and 4h stretches so mega pleased. Discovered her thumb today and sent herself to sleep in a stationary buggy today. Unheard of! Is the thumb bad?

Tonight she sent herself to sleep for a couple of hrs then awake for another couple. Not sure if because we left her to give her the chance to settle herself that she didn't go into such a deep sleep or because she had about 6h naps today, last one finishing 530. Hoping she's asleep now for a while.

Good luck everyone :)

Woohooo up for first feed and he slept for 4.5 hours!

After a pooey nappy (including the loudest fart I've ever heard coming from a human) I think he's dropping back off. I have him second boob after his nappy change so hopefully he's sufficiently tanked up to last a couple of hours at least.

Mugoo - over 4hours is brilliant! You must be really pleased.

Yorkie - my DD is a thumb sucker (as was I!) I don't think you need to worry at all yet, just enjoy her being able to comfier herself. My DD is 2.5 now and we've started teaching her the thumb is just for sleepy time (she can try and suck it at other times if she's insecure or shy). I'm aiming to stop her doing it altogether by age 5.

We've just finished first feed after 3.5hr sleep. Not his best stretch but not too bad....

Writerwannabe83 · 08/06/2014 02:24

Wow mrsmugoo - that is amazing!! You must be over the moon!!

yorkie - my DS doesn't suck his thumb specifically but when he's tired or trying to fall asleep he will he will start sucking on his hands, practically tries to get all his fingers in his mouth!

He slept for 5 hours. I definitely think our days of 7 hour stretches are behind us, I think I just had a few lucky nights!! I will offer him both boobs with this feed and hopefully he'll then go another 5 hours [smle]

Well 4.5 hours and a quick 19 min feed. Gonna put him back to bed in a moment. Praying he can go til 7 at least!

He was a bit restless in that previous stretch of sleep whilst he was trying to poo! When does the grunting stop?!

Report
Cannotbelieveit · 08/06/2014 03:46

Was just about to put him back in his cot and he decided he wanted another 10 minutes boob, let's hope that means the next stretch is good too Wink
