I think to start the new thread off we should reintroduce ourselves and our babies for the sake of our own memories and also for any newbies who may join Smile

I have a 10 week old DS who is EBF. Has been sleeping through the night for the last week and I'm just waiting patiently for things to go downhill as I'm sure they will Smile

Wake ups at 2 and 4.50, then slept til just after 8! I'm trying to forget about his 7-8 hour stints!!! He obviously has!! Wink

Writerwannabe83 · 13/06/2014 09:11

Good luck with the weigh-in kate - mine is getting weighed this morning too!

Just back from weigh in. He is just over 14lbs and is now properly on the 9th centile not between that the 2nd Smile He looks just right, so I think this where he's meant to be. HV said he is perfect (which I knew already Wink) Hope your weigh in goes well too writer

FrankelandFilly · 13/06/2014 11:35

Great weigh in result Kate, I think the centime charts cause unnecessary stress at times as people assume they should be on the higher tracks. They don't explain properly, in my opinion, that as long as your baby gains steadily it doesn't matter what centime you are on.

Good luck for your weigh in writer

Writerwannabe83 · 13/06/2014 12:10

He's only put on 4oz this week but I'm trying not to overthink it as he put about 10oz on last week. He's still on his 50th centile so no need for worry Smile

4

FrankelandFilly · 13/06/2014 12:29

4oz is about the average for weekly weight gain writer so I wouldn't stress too much. Is there any particular reason why you're getting him weighed weekly? My HV has told me to weigh DD a maximum of every 3 weeks as there is too much fluctuation in weekly weigh ins.

mrsmugoo · 13/06/2014 12:31

We were doing fortnightly til 10 weeks then HV said fine to go 4 weekly, so that's next week. I can tell by looking he's gaining though!

Writerwannabe83 · 13/06/2014 12:33

Unfortunately I have my own scales.....

They were a gift from my mother and they are there just staring at me, begging to be used... Grin

Thanks Frank!

For a while we had to get DS weighed twice a week when he was really teeny, and it stressed me out. Now my HV isn't coming back to see him until he's 9 months Shock and I just get him weighed at the drop in when I want, which tends to be monthly -- much more relaxing! I'm like mugoo, I can tell he's gaining from the way he looks and how he feels when I pick him up.

puggywug81 · 13/06/2014 14:12

Hope the jabs went ok Owlina, Fin slept all day after his,he was a brave little soldier!

Cariad007 · 13/06/2014 14:16

DS slept all day after his first jabs but the second ones were a different story! He has the third lot coming up next week and I'm hoping it doesn't get cumulatively worse...

puggywug81 · 13/06/2014 16:30

What happened after the 2nd ones cariad? You've got me worried now!

Cariad007 · 13/06/2014 16:36

Oh nothing too dreadful! DS was just v whingey and clingy for a couple of days with a very slight temperature.

OwlinaTree · 13/06/2014 18:22

Thanks puggy! He was OK, quite sleepy. He's been a bit clingy today tho. I'm attempting to feed him off to sleep for a bit, don't know if it's the heat but he's just not really napped today for more than a few minutes.

PollyP0429 · 13/06/2014 19:41

DD seemed to get progressively clingy with each set of jabs. The 3rd lot she got quite a nasty temperature but 2 doses of calpol solved it :)

Bedtime went surprisingly well tonight, lets hope it continues in the same vein

mrsmugoo · 13/06/2014 20:28

Doing bedtime slightly late here as we were travelling back to my parents for the weekend.

A very hot and tired DS here after his second set of jabs that he didn't even cry for haha!

This bedroom is really hot so I hope he goes down ok.

FrankelandFilly · 13/06/2014 20:50

DD hasn't been napping properly since this heat began. She's sleeping ok at night though so I'm not too worried. I'm still second guessing myself as to what to put her in at night. Currently she is in her cot in just her short sleeved vest as the GroEgg said 26.6 degrees Shock It will only drop by a degree or two overnight but I will pop her in her 0.5 tog sleeping bag when I go to bed and feed her.

Cariad007 · 13/06/2014 20:56

DS had his usual afternoon nap for a few hours, which was nice. He fell asleep while feeding but woke as soon as I put him in the crib. How does he know??? He will only sleep in it after his last feed and never at any other time Angry

Cariad007 · 13/06/2014 21:37

And now he's super grumpy and won't feed OR sleep.

Cannotbelieveit · 13/06/2014 21:45

Not sure what to do with DS! Gave him bottle of expressed milk just before 8 (he took 140ml), then a bath half hour after, and then offered breast, he fed 2 mins and fell asleep on me, that was 40 mins ago! Should I wake him or put him to bed?!

FrankelandFilly · 13/06/2014 21:51

Never wake a sleeping baby! He'll wake up if he's hungry.

PollyP0429 · 13/06/2014 22:00

Urgh had a feeling I was in for a rough one DD woke up screaming ss if someone had broken her legs :( calmed down eventually so put her down, more screaming, pick her up screaming continues, put her down it stops. 10 mins later more screaming.

Gave up and gave her another feed... clearly she didn't want the milk, just her glorifed dummy though, lost cout of the many times she pulled off.

Cannotbelieveit · 13/06/2014 22:10

Frank I wouldn't usually but so desperately want bed myself! However attempted transfer to cot and he woke! Feeding now. Trying to work out the best time to give bath/occasional expressed bottle? Any advice ladies? He's 6 weeks old tomorrow.

FrankelandFilly · 13/06/2014 22:31

My bedtime routine for DD is a split feed (a normal feed for her is 6oz, so I give her 3oz) at 5pm, then wind down for bed with a bath and massage between 6-6.30 and then I give her the other 3oz and put her in her cot. Some babies want a later bedtime, but DD is happy to be asleep by 7ish so I go with that.

Perhaps you could build your routine so that he always has a bottle after his bath and before bed? 6 weeks might still be a bit young for a full-on bedtime routine though, I think DD was about 9 weeks old before I started a proper routine and putting her to bed on her own, though she is in our bedroom.
