I think to start the new thread off we should reintroduce ourselves and our babies for the sake of our own memories and also for any newbies who may join Smile

I have a 10 week old DS who is EBF. Has been sleeping through the night for the last week and I'm just waiting patiently for things to go downhill as I'm sure they will Smile

Hi everyone - just about to go back to sleep after first feed. I'm chuffed he lasted 4.5 hours. He even resettled with a hand on his tummy after thunder disturbed him at 11:30.

Hoping for one more feed around 4ish and then hand to the grandparents for a lie in til 8

mrsmugoo · 14/06/2014 01:36

We started bedtime routine at 8 weeks - I think DS thrives on the routine/consistency. Last night we didn't arrive at my parents til gone 7 and he'd slept over an hour in the car but he still just wanted his bath and straight to bed.

mrsmugoo · 14/06/2014 02:51

Already up here - I tried to resettle without feeding as it was so soon but he was clearly hungry and fed voraciously! Guessing he was thirsty because of the heat. Hopefully get some more sleep this time!

Misty9 · 14/06/2014 04:18

Morning all. Not posted recently as been having a bit of a tough time and starting to wonder whether I've got pnd.

On the plus side, dd (8wks) is sleeping in her cot a lot more and possibly only woke at 3.30 because she was wet through. She seems to have caught the toddler cough going round, it was only a matter of time really. Threw up her feed and now attempting to settle her again. Would they delay jabs on Monday if she's unwell?

Cannotbelieveit · 14/06/2014 06:00

Thanks ladies, can't remember when I started a bath/bed routine with ds1, must have been 3 months I think?

Well ds2 just slept 7hrs45mins!! So I'm wondering if the bath and expressed bottle played a part? I feel lots better for that sleep esp after a long busy week with crap sleep Grin

Boobs so full and hurting tho!

OwlinaTree · 14/06/2014 06:40

Hope you are OK misty. Do speak to your doctor or health visitor if you are feeling low. Getting support early is the best thing to do, rather than trying to manage on your own. Sending Thanks.

notadoctor · 14/06/2014 06:50

Misty - Sorry to hear you are feeling low. Hope you are getting plenty of support. And sorry your little one is under the weather too - they will delay the jabs if you're little one is unwell, especially if they have a temperature.

Good news about the long stretches, well done babies! DS a bit unsettled here, I think it's the heat. He is feeding little and often so I guess he's thirsty, I think it means he's mostly getting fore milk though as he is trumping for England!

KateTheShrew · 14/06/2014 07:47

Unsettled here too. I think it's the heat. DS woke at 10.45, 1.20 and 4am and seemed pretty interested in milk each time. He got up with DH at 6.30 and I'm just feeding him now having snatched another cheeky hour of sleep. Today is the day of the mammoth drive down to stay with my parents. Please, please be good in the car DS! Keep your fingers crossed for me ladies...

PollyP0429 · 14/06/2014 07:53

All of us up for the day at 7. DD woke up every 2 hours almost to the minute, if it wasn't 2 hours it was less not more. Me and DH are exhausted and she hasn't screamed like thst before.

I've finally had enough of people telling me this is normal, that wasn't for her so I've made an out of hours appointment. I so hope they can do something cos we can't deal with this anymore

KateTheShrew · 14/06/2014 07:59

Oops so sleepy I missed the last page of posts! I've read them now.

misty, sorry to hear you're having a tough time Thanks I second what owlina said: don't try to struggle on your own, call your HV or GP, and make sure friends/family know you need support, hugs, tea, cake, a break etc. I think you said your LO is 8 weeks? I remember still finding it all really hard at that stage.

Re jabs, they will postpone for some illnesses (esp if LO has a temperature like not says). I would ring the surgery and ask for advice.

OwlinaTree · 14/06/2014 09:16

Yes, I remember round 6ish weeks it got tougher. The novelty had sort of worn off, for want of a better expression, the tiredness was starting to build up, and I didn't really know any other local mums so felt a bit lonely.

OwlinaTree · 14/06/2014 09:23

It's better now, but new friendships take time for me anyway! All my friends work all week, so really enjoying meeting some new people.

FrankelandFilly · 14/06/2014 09:43

I echo the others Misty, don't try to push through on your own, it's bloody hard work having a young baby.

We had an unsettled night here too. DD didn't wake for feeding but she was fidgety and grumbling so I was awake pretty much once an hour all through the night. She woke for her usual feed at 5 and then went back down for 2 hours but I'm still knackered. It must be the heat, so I'm hoping it cools down soon!

Yorkie78 · 14/06/2014 19:16

Last night rubbish here too. Fingers crossed for tonight for everyone. At least a bit cooler in se London tonight. Will a day of good naps breed sleep. We will see. Dd didn't go to sleep until 10 last night. Tried everything. Feed and cuddle just didn't cut it :(. Good luck everyone.

mrsmugoo · 14/06/2014 20:08

Evening all. DS is down and I'm joining him!

Have had a lovely day with family but as per usual naps have been a struggle and he has only catnapped either in the pushchair or on me so I'm pooped and going to bed while I can still hear all the neighbours having barbecues haha!

PollyP0429 · 14/06/2014 20:13

Yet another evening of screaming inconsolable baby

Cariad007 · 14/06/2014 20:35

I attemptd a bath, feed, bed routine and failed miserably :( DS napped for a good 3 hours earlier though so I think he simply wasn't sleepy. He's a bit grouchy now, though not screaming (yet!) so am hoping he will either drop off or stay awake for another hour and feed to sleep. He has finally figured out how to keep a dummy in his mouth and seems to like it up to a certain point. Never thought I'd resort to a dummy but he started sucking his thumb a few days ago so a dummy is preferable to that.

PollyP0429 · 14/06/2014 20:48

Finally asleep, praying we don't have a repeat of last night.

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 14/06/2014 20:55

Well, we're back from a BBQ and the girls are in bed. Anybody else brave (or stupid) enough to stay up to watch the football? I'm going to give it a go but suspect I'll only get as far as half time. I can't even have a lie in tomorrow with it being father's day...

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 14/06/2014 20:56

Fingers crossed for you Polly. What did they say at OOH?

puggywug81 · 14/06/2014 21:28

Hi twentieth another one stupid enough to attempt watching the match tonight, I also doubt I will last till the end but I will try.

Cannotbelieveit · 14/06/2014 21:43

Tried the routine the other way round, bath at 8.30, bottle of expressed and he's zonked!! I'm sure the transfer to bed will wake him so will give him a bf and put him to bed after that. DH gone out with his brother and friends to watch the match so it's just me and the boys. It's times like this I'm lonely and really regret moving to where DH and his family live. 30 years old and miss my mum and dad even tho I see them once a week!

Cariad007 · 14/06/2014 22:00

Spoke to soon, the attemptd feed to sleep did not work and he's now very cranky but no longer hungry so I can't stick him on the boob to get him to sleep. I sense a very long night ahead of us and hope this isn't th start of the 4 month sleep regression.

Cannotbelieveit · 14/06/2014 22:26

The transfer did wake him up but quick 15 minute feed and he was in bed, hoping for a stint like last night!! Sleep vibes to all the mums and babes Smile

Cariad007 · 14/06/2014 22:27

Lucky you. I resorted to Calpol as he seemed in pain and his BCG site was very red and hot. Let's see if it helps. He's feeding again now and seems calmer. First Father's Day for DP tomorrow.
