I think to start the new thread off we should reintroduce ourselves and our babies for the sake of our own memories and also for any newbies who may join Smile

I have a 10 week old DS who is EBF. Has been sleeping through the night for the last week and I'm just waiting patiently for things to go downhill as I'm sure they will Smile

Yay second stretch was 4.30-7! Feel like I can cope today! Why oh why did he tease me with those 8 hour stints so many nights in a row! Gonna try a bath before bed for him to see if it helps later!

Writerwannabe83 · 12/06/2014 07:56

Got another 3 hours here too - I still feel absolutely shattered though.

He's usually really good and goes back to sleep after his 'breakfast' so I'm hoping he does again today so I can get some housework done!!

pug - my DS had his jabs at 10 weeks too but that's pretty standard where I am. He did cry scream the place down when it was done but it was short lived. The only problem he had was from the Rota Virus drops which caused very bad wind about 48 hours later, this can be quite common but more so for babies who are windy to start with. DS suffered horrendously and was screaming for hours on end one night - after 3 hours of listening to it we had to give Calpol as we didn't know what else to do. Just warning you Smile Like I said, this isn't the case for everyone and I'm sure your LO will be fine.

Well we had a 3am wake up, then he's woken me about 20 mins ago. So that's OK considering the 8pm bedtime. I'll definately try that again! Glad lots of babies slept well.

pug my boy has 2nd set of jabs today, let's hope they are both OK. My boy slept all day after them last time.

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 12/06/2014 08:29

Yay! Glad you had another good night MrsM. Hopefully a corner has been turned!

My fears about DD being blocked up were unfounded. She still sounds awful but it thankfully didn't stop her sleeping.

KateTheShrew · 12/06/2014 08:31

Morning! Sounds like most people had pretty good nights Smile

We had a very good night in the Shrew household: I woke up at 5am to find that DS hadn't yet woken up for a feed!!!! Bearing in mind he's often in his second feed of the night at this time my boobs were absolutely exploding, so I'm afraid I broke the never wake a sleeping baby rule and got him up to feed him. He went back to sleep for another hour afterwards so all was good. And I had six and a half hours sleep in a row, which I haven't had since he was born!

mrsmugoo · 12/06/2014 10:02

I'm not counting my chickens that this will carry on but I think I've had 3 good nights in a row now and I feel pretty well rested so definitely not complaining.

puggywug81 · 12/06/2014 14:29

Thanks writer good to get some advice, Fin is a pretty windy baby so calpol on standby.

PollyP0429 · 12/06/2014 14:56

Afternoon everyone, yet another not so brilliant night. Though she got DH up at 4, she did at least go back to sleep till half 5.

I don't understand why I feel so knackered, DH took her from 5:45 and left me to sleep, he didn't bring DD back 9 til ans tgen again at 11 and I'm STILL falling asleep... this is so frustrating, I feel like I'm missing so much

However I'm really glad to see everyone else getting better sleep. It gives me hope!

mrsmugoo · 12/06/2014 19:07

We've not had very good naps here today so had a bit of a tiredness meltdown from DS resulting in early bath time so I am doing bedtime feed now. He's hit that slightly wired look about him so I hope he goes down ok.

Cannotbelieveit · 12/06/2014 20:29

DS has napped loads today so not sure what that means for tonight! He's just fed and fell asleep don't think that's his last one tho!

Writerwannabe83 · 12/06/2014 20:54

DS has been fed, winded and now in his MB. His routine has been off tonight and now he seems really grizzly and irritable - I can't see him falling asleep any time soon Hmm

FrankelandFilly · 12/06/2014 21:01

I put DD to bed early tonight (6.30) as she was verging on being over-tired. MIL looked after her for me while I was at the hospital this morning and she completely failed to get her to nap Hmm I've spent all day dealing with a grumpy tired baby as a result, she had a few short naps but way less than normal. The heat isn't helping either and I think she's coming down with something as she's been coughing a bit for the last day or two. Calpol on stand by!

Writerwannabe83 · 12/06/2014 22:13

DS is still awake.

Does anyone else find that their baby is really sensitive to their routine and any changes to it really alter how well they fall asleep and stay asleep??

OP posts:
mrsmugoo · 13/06/2014 01:03

He's just done his longest EVER sleep 5.5 hours!

Yorkie78 · 13/06/2014 01:24

The heat is making sleeping v difficult for our 14 wo dd. Need to hold her upright so she's not sick but the heat of our bodies is making this tricky. She discovered her thumb a few days ago which she has sometimes used to get herself to sleep but it's not fail safe :(. Trying not to worry about possible teeth damage. We can't stop her and it seems to help her a fair bit. Will have to put her down in ten mins. Dreading her not going to sleep this time. Like bedtime. She was In the bath at 630 but not asleep until 830. Desperate for some more sleep. Dh is eating cereal downstairs whilst working, in solidarity with the awake girls upstairs. Hope everyone else is fairing a bit better.

Yorkie78 · 13/06/2014 01:25

Mrsmugoo you must be so chuffed :)

mrsmugoo · 13/06/2014 04:18

Yeah dead chuffed, and not back up again til 4 it's amazing!

Hope he goes back down now til
a reasonable morning time.

The only thing was I found it really hard to go back to sleep - I was awake an hour. Guess my body thinks 5 hours sleep is plenty now!

Writerwannabe83 · 13/06/2014 04:41

That's brilliant mrs mugoo Smile Smile

I'm up feeding DS but I knew he'd be up earlier than normal as he hadn't fed since 19.30pm.

yorkie - my DS is 12 weeks and has always used his dummy to help him sleep but over the past week he has been spitting it out and putting his fingers or thumbs in his mouth instead. I always know when he's tired now though as that's what he starts doing. I've been told that it's a normal developmental stage though (the finding of their mouth) and it doesn't necessarily mean they are going to be thumb suckers as they get older.

Yorkie78 · 13/06/2014 05:15

Thanks writer, that's reassuring. I long for the day she has completely got the hang of it! Tonight there's not been much sleep had :( V tired

mrsmugoo · 13/06/2014 06:38

Up for the day here a with the worlds smiliest baby!

PollyP0429 · 13/06/2014 07:16

Mini breakthrough!! Up for the day afte waking at 11, 3, 4 (DH handled and he came back to bed quickly) and now. Good girl Rowan! I've missed nights like that

mrsmugoo · 13/06/2014 07:20

Ooh Rowan what a pretty name!

Writerwannabe83 · 13/06/2014 07:27

Their smiles make it all worth it don't they missmugoo

I'm on your very tired wavelength yorkie DS went back to sleep at 04.45 but I couldn't and have been awake since he woke at 4.30am. He's up feeding again and my head is banging. He does usually sleep again after his 'breakfast feed' but I have have so much housework that needs doing. I've got friends coming round at lunchtime so I can't really put it off any longer Sad

OP posts:
notadoctor · 13/06/2014 08:12

DS has reverted to 3hourly wake ups - I think it's because I determinedly keep trying to put him back down in his Moses basket... Little cuddle monkey just hates not being held!

KateTheShrew · 13/06/2014 08:32

Morning all...

5.5 hours mugoo that's brilliant!

Wednesday night's sleepathon was a fluke, it seems. Last night was business as usual-- up at 11.30, 2 and 5.15. Still, it only took me one hour (rather than three) to get back to sleep after the 2am feed, and DH took him at 6, letting me sleep til 8 so I feel OK. Plus the thermometer said it was 25 degrees in our room last night(!) even with windows open at the front and back of the house, so I'm sure he was a bit uncomfortable and thirsty and really did need those feeds. Going to get him weighed this morning, keep your fingers crossed for steady gain Smile
