I think to start the new thread off we should reintroduce ourselves and our babies for the sake of our own memories and also for any newbies who may join Smile

I have a 10 week old DS who is EBF. Has been sleeping through the night for the last week and I'm just waiting patiently for things to go downhill as I'm sure they will Smile

So glad to hear you had a good night mugoo! I'm also off to stay with my parents next week so DS and I will be getting a bit spoiled, I hope. Bit nervous about the journey though as it's over 200 miles and DS had never been in the car for more than an hour Shock

Hope the baby massage is relaxing, cariad and puts him in a good mood for this evening.

PollyP0429 · 11/06/2014 11:40

Morning all (just) crappy evening preceded a crappy night :( I try to feed DD only as much as evrry 4 hours at night - unless she goes longer herself. So she was up around 12ish, then 3, then 4 and at 5 DH decided to give up trying to get her to sleep and just took her into the living room.

Patterns are out the window, DH in knackered and annoyed at me for going back to sleep... I feel like it's never going to get better :'(

FrankelandFilly · 11/06/2014 13:37

Oh Polly it will get better, I promise. Everything with babies is a phase and while it doesn't feel like it at the time, it will pass.

We're back from our weigh in and DD is now 14lb 3oz which is exactly what I was aiming for! She's now back on track to double her birthweight by 6 months - phew!

Cariad007 · 11/06/2014 15:16

Hmm turns out DS isn't fond of massage - he lasted about halfway through the class before screaming so I ended up having to feed him. Not sure the other mums there were quite my cup of tea either. The group seemed to be dominated by a very loud woman going on about how she started her 19 week old on juice as soon as she was 12 weeks but then had to stop for a bit and restart at 15 weeks as DD got ill. I wonder why?!?

But I'm going to try and take DS to baby music class tomorrow so the search for an activity we both enjoy continues! Took him to get weighed too and he's still cruising along nicely on the 91st percentile and is nearly 8kg, or 18lb.

Writerwannabe83 · 11/06/2014 20:20

I was going to do baby massage when DS's screaming was at its worst but then the classes got cancelled due to funding.

I'm feeling stressed tonight - I've had a lot of things on my mind lately that I haven't really spoken to DH about because he's already got enough on his plate with worrying about his mom, but it just all built up today which led to me having a bit of an emotional breakdown. It was good to have a big cry to DH about it but now I've got a headache.

We've just bathed DS and now I'm feeding him. Hopefully he will fall asleep quickly so I can have some nice quality time and cuddles with DH.

I

Cariad007 · 11/06/2014 20:26

Sorry to hear that Writer. Things can be so hard can't they? Hope your MIL will be okay too.

I have bathed DS and attempted to feed him but he wasn't that interested. He went in his chair while DP and I had dinner but now is whining again. I'd love to,be able to put him in the crib to see if he'll settle but I know he won't. He napped from 4-6pm today so I guess he isn't really tired yet.

FrankelandFilly · 11/06/2014 20:27

I found we had to persevere with the baby massage, all the babies on my course cried during the first two sessions, but by the third they were all clearly enjoying it!

writer sorry you're having a tough time of it! enjoy your evening and make sure your DH gives you lots of cuddles.

Writerwannabe83 · 11/06/2014 20:40

Thanks cariad and frank - I absolutely love the bones of DS but it can be so emotionally draining being needed all the time. I love being with him and spending time with him but sometimes I get so resentful of my DH. It feels like my life has done a complete 180, I'm the one having to sacrifice everything whilst DH's life pretty much carries on as normal.

Oh I know EXACTLY how you feel. Am almost jealous that DP gets to escape to work, and that he doesn't have to wake up to feed DS. Although he usually does wake up anyway. I'm most jealous of his ability to fall asleep easily - takes me ages but he drops off in a matter of minutes!

Writerwannabe83 · 11/06/2014 21:14

I try and focus on the positive which is that whilst are babes are this young and probably for many months to come, we will have a special bond with them that I don't think the dads can achieve. When DS looks at me and knows that I'm the one that nourishes him, soothes and comforts him, sings to him and looks after him, well it just makes it all worthwhile.

Well after last night I deserved a day like today. She's been an angel today, barely any fuss, a loveky long nap before we went out and such a good girl at the baby and toddler group.

Bit more difficult to get down for bed but nanny's here so left it to her :)

Writerwannabe83 · 11/06/2014 21:37

Yay for nannies!!

Not sure I'd leave my DS with my DM though - she isn't the most maternal Grin

After another quick power feed at 21.15pm DS is now fast asleep.
I won't take it for granted that he's going to stay that way though....

DS has been feeding for the last hour and is now asleep. Will attempt crib transfer and then bed for me. Forgot to give him Calpol but think his cold is better now anyway. So no more drugging my child!

Cariad007 · 11/06/2014 22:03

Aaand he's up again :) Oh Calpol, why do you tempt me...

OwlinaTree · 11/06/2014 22:58

Well, tried a bath and a massage and the boy went to sleep at about 8! Woke him about 1015 for a nappy and another feed, he's asleep again now on our bed. About to attempt transfer. I've eaten a meal without a baby on my lap!

Cannotbelieveit · 11/06/2014 23:18

DS has been asleep an hour! Please be a good night.

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 11/06/2014 23:34

DD has been down since 7pm and has just gone back into her cot after a quick dream feed. She's so blocked up though, so not sure how tonight will go. It's got two chances i suppose ...

mrsmugoo · 12/06/2014 00:29

DS has done another 4 hour stretch, just up feeding him now

Writerwannabe83 · 12/06/2014 03:44

DS woke up screaming then went on to do 3 huge trumps!!
I thought that whilst he's awake, seeing as it's been over 7 hours since his last proper feed I'd give the 'Dream 'Feed' a go Smile

DS is very half heartedly sucking, doesn't seem too fussed and hopefully just wants to go back to sleep.

OP posts:
mrsmugoo · 12/06/2014 03:52

Up again here, I think it was 2.5 hours so pretty good.

Writerwannabe83 · 12/06/2014 04:21

I'm glad you are seeing some improvements mrsmugoo Smile

DS has been asleep for about 5 minutes - he only sang and kicked about in his MB for about 10 minutes which is a big improvement for him!!

Here's hoping for 3 hours minimum Grin

OP posts:
Cannotbelieveit · 12/06/2014 04:30

10.15-3.45 so much better! Hoping for another 2-2.5 hours Wink

puggywug81 · 12/06/2014 06:39

Morning all,for the most part it sounds like good nights were had, glad things seem to be shaping up for you mrsmugoo.

Fin slept well,it was me who didn't! He has his 1st set of jabs today,he is 10 weeks old but my surgery said they couldn't fit him in till now,I'm dreading it.

mrsmugoo · 12/06/2014 07:10

He slept 4:30-6:45 so all in all another good night and I feel rested. I can totally cope with 2 wake ups. Please keep it up DS!
