I'm mixed feeding and baby is almost 8 weeks, wondering if I'm feeling mild stomach period like cramps

OP posts:
ExBrightonBell · 22/01/2014 15:44

Well, after a few weeks at the beginning of enforced mixed feeding (due to a poorly baby), followed by exclusive bfeeding, my period returned at about 10 months post partum. This coincided with my ds sleeping more overnight, and breastfeeding becoming more of a daytime thing. I think that it's the reduction in night feeding that can trigger it.

HabitualLurker · 22/01/2014 15:46

Just this week - my 'baby' is nearly 16 months! Blush
Needless to say I'm not longer EBFing and haven't been for quite some time..

HabitualLurker · 22/01/2014 15:46

... but I haven't night weaned yet (though I very very much want to)

adagio · 22/01/2014 15:47

My baby is 13 months and still no sign - EBF (obv with food for her too now)

purplemurple1 · 22/01/2014 20:37

Period came 6 weeks pp , 10days ebf then mixed until a day before getting my period when he stopped bf.

HoratiaDrelincourt · 22/01/2014 20:39

I'm pissed off.

DC1, ebf, bf to 26m, 14m.
DC2, ebf, bf to 26m, 16m.
DC3, ebf ... 10 fecking weeks Hmm

Fairylea · 22/01/2014 20:40

I formula fed ds from birth and my period arrived exactly 6 weeks after my elective c section!

mrscog · 22/01/2014 20:42

9 months, and I BF until 20 months.

Bythebeach · 22/01/2014 20:42

Three times ebf...three times period by 6 weeks!!!! Always outraged it's come back so fast....I think it's a family thing as my mum has five sisters (all now in their seventies and eighties) who all ebfed but who tended to have several babies with sub one year gaps

TheUnstoppableWindmill · 22/01/2014 20:45

Came back at 16m, still breastfeeding but mix-fed a bit from 10months.

fourlegstwolegs · 23/01/2014 14:15

EBF, 6 months.

Artandco · 23/01/2014 14:19

8 weeks. Ebf. Pregnant with ds2 not long after. Ebf ds2 and was 10 weeks

MinesAPintOfTea · 23/01/2014 14:24

EBF, still going at 20 months. Period restarted at 5 months (of 2-hourly feeds, ebf).

At least you've got a chance of getting your sex drive back now though.

MissVic101 · 23/01/2014 16:49

ebf 10 weeks . Feel cheated!

pumpkinsweetie · 23/01/2014 18:10

Formula fed dd4, period didn't start until she was 8 weeks, was rather impressedSmile!
Just had dd5, she is 2weeks & 2 days, hoping to have the same break from the painters lol

Mama1980 · 23/01/2014 18:18

Ds1 exclusively breast fed until 6 months corrected then until 4 1/2 periods returned after about 8 months.
Ds2, emergency hysterectomy Grin

Superworm · 23/01/2014 21:54

15 months. Still feeding at nearly two.

leedy · 23/01/2014 22:21

DS1, EBF until 6 months, came back at 8 months. DS2, EBF until 6 months, came back at 5 months. Was going to complain about damn overenthusiastic uterus, but I see some people above got their period back even earlier.

lilyaldrin · 23/01/2014 22:22

7 or 8 months - when I stopped bfing at night.

Theimpossiblegirl · 23/01/2014 22:27

Breastfed DD1 for 9 months. Periods started a year after having DD2, proof that breastfeeding alone is not reliable contraception. Luckily I was planning a small gap, just not that small.

HoneyDragon · 23/01/2014 22:32

4 weeks both times, and breast fed till nearly two and 3 years old.

Skiingmaniac · 23/01/2014 22:36

8 weeks......ff......preg again by 12 weeks.....oops

JanePurdy · 23/01/2014 22:36

Dc1 - ebf, night weaned at 22m, period back 8m
Dc2 - ebf, night weaned at 22m, period back 18m
Weird!

Blanketsandpillows · 23/01/2014 22:37

Hmmmm this thread has me worried! I mix-fed from 6 weeks, fully formula fed from 10 weeks. Baby is now 21 weeks and no sign of it!

Frigintinsella · 23/01/2014 22:56

Mine came back when DS was 11 mo!
I exclusively bf but DS was only bf a night after he turned 8mo (due to a mixture work, childcare and bottle refusal)
