Today I breastfed in a public swimming pool

Not to make a statement or anything, just that DD needed it and I thought it would be a lot more obvious if I got out and sat at the side (small swimming pool).

I was discreet - I did not do helicopters with my norks or spray fellow swimmers with booby milk. No one complained or called the police.

Just wanted to get that off my chest Smile

Oh dear... I assumed that people who didn't care just wouldn't look at the thread.

There are loads of threads on here about things I don't care about, like guinea pigs and weddings and TOWIE. I don't go on those threads whibging that 'quite honestly I don't give a chuff about your TV viewing choices! Stop trying to shove them down my throat!'

Maybe BFing is different somehow?

And you didn't know that beforehand.......

had this thread been started by someone saying 'urrrgh today at swimming I saw a mother breastfeeding in the pool. yuck vile ' the answers would have been totally opposite

Nothing wrong with breast feeding wherever you like but is it only my DD that was fussy about bf then? she wouldn't take it if I'd used too strong scented shower gel or if we'd just been in the pool until I'd washed my boobs (no idea if it was the smell or the flavour she objected to or what but she wouldn't latch on)

Sigh. I have asked for this thread to be moved to the bf topic. Seems that bf isn't just a normal topic that can be discussed here, alongside all the other mundanities of life that not everyone cares about.

For some reason, starting a thread about Bf is seen as Making A Statement. There is, apparently, an Ulterior Motive and you are all Playing Into My Hands by replying. It's effing bizarre.

I started the thread for same reasons as anyone does in chat. Bored, thinking about something, wondering if anyone interested in same thing. Next time I'll go and post a humorous cat photo on Facebook instead.

Whoops, I managed to flounce out just as several very reasonable people posted. I think I have killed my own thread now - goodnight!

We've moved this to Breast and Bottle Feeding at the OP's request.

It's not that you started a thread about breastfeeding, it's just the way your post reads.

exoticfruits · 28/08/2013 19:08

I can't see why it is worthy of comment- surely it is just what people do? Confused

Still can't believe people would tell a mum to get out of the pool to breastfeed a baby when the milk is literally right there next to the baby. What a palava. Climb out with a slippery baby and walk ten feet to either wet the one dry towel that is convenient to bring along to keep warm or stay dripping wet and freeze. In order to give milk to a baby who was next to the boobies in the first place.
