I've got a horrendous blocked duct I'm in agony. Ds fast asleep so I'm sobbing on the sofa trying to express but I can't get a bloody let down. I've never had this problem before and I don't know what to do. I can't even touch my boob so can't hand express or anything

Hand expression is more efficient than a pump for clearing stuff. It's also much more comfortable. It's just harder to control where the milk actually goes, but this isn't really that important if you're just trying to clear a blockage.

Thank you. Ds is feeding from me he's just really fussy (moaning, pulling away etc). Will take all advice on board and keep going ...

My pump is electric but I will definitely hand express as it is less painful

Sorry if this has already been mentioned upthread: I think mastitis makes you milk taste a bit salty so that could be why your DS is a bit fussy.

I'm feeling much better re the boob and fever now but the antibiotics are having an awful effect on me! I've got a really bad upset stomach which won't stop gurgling and I feel really sick. Can't speak to a doctor until tomorrow morning. Milk supply dwindling again but going to have a good go and getting rid of the blockage with massage and hand expressing in the bath.
