Where to go in London/southeast for tongue tie op?

Hi my 10 week old DD has been diagnosed with Tongue tie.
Gp is using the nhs 'chose & book' thing.

Can anyone recommend a hospital, or should we just go to the one with the shortest waiting list?

Super breastfeeding advice as well. Got me through a very very tough time. We couldn't wait for the NHS appointment, baby was starving and I was cracking up!

Had my son's done at Royal Free in Hampstead. Very short wait (matter of days).

Yup, def Kings. You need Clare Kedves on 020 3299 3833. She is THE tongue tie specialist there.

We also went to Kings, although in the end they felt DD didn't needed it snipped but while we were there saw a fab breast feeding counsellor. Parking is a TOTAL nightmare just to warn you...

Kings for sure. Katie Fisher is amazing there and helped us loads. I've always found the parking fine at kings tbh.

Everyone that's saying kings- did you go private, or nhs choose & book referral?

We were referred, matter if days. Just a warning, they do the snipping all afternoon so u have to wait with a hungry baby for your turn. I found the 2 hour wait very distressing as ds was going nuts! But i was an anxious 1st time mum... x

Katie fisher is not always right. She refused to treat DS PTT and in the end I paid Mary griffiths to come to my home & do it.
Of course everyone's circumstances are different but I'm so glad I pushed for it to be done. Best thing we did!!!

Ok I think my gp didn't put kings on my chose & book list of hospitals.
I will ask him to add it & give them a call tomorrow.

By the way does anyone have an opinion on whether you absolutely definitely need a paed surgeon to do the procedure? Or is a trained midwife just as good?

Kings, although found them to be not the most pleasant bunch.

I have heard good things about Royal Free from several mums.

If you get a slot a few weeks away at RF it's worth keeping in touch as they get cancellations when people go private.

The peac ent surgeon Helen Caulfield at royal free tongue tie clunic is lovely. She can do it privately if NHS wait is too long. Our referral was nearly a 3 week wait I was on agony so chose not to wait.

Mary griffiths did DS when he was 4wo. At home. In our case it was just a simple snip so it took seconds. Having it done at home was much less hassle than having to go to a hospital. For me it was much less traumatic than having to go to a clinic, wait in a queue and hear other families and be surrounded by that hospital smell!! Plus I needed to bf straight after so that was much easier at home too.
Mary is a qualified LC (& MW i think) and was trained by the surgeon in Southampton (name I forget). She spent a couple of hours with us and was so helpful.
Best money we spent in the first 6 months.
Ann Dobson is also highly recommended.

Oh and Mary came to the house the next day so we didn't have to wait any longer. At 4wo I could not have waited for a referral on the nhs. I was at my wits end.....

You don't need a pead. We has the pead from Kings snip DS the first time. Then Katie Fisher (midwife & lactation consultant) did it the 2nd & 3rd time. I would just go straight for a registered lactation consultant next time. They are insured to practice this procedure and can do the follow up too.

Yes I am wondering do we need the hospital doctor to do the procedure? Or is a LC good enough?

Would prefer not to have to go to hospital, plus getting there/ parking /DH time off work all a nightmare.

Anyone know of a LC in essex, or a london one that will travel (inside m25). (Will google the LCs already mentioned)

Would prefer to go with a recommendation rather than random google search person.

Ann Dobson came to my house snipped both my teins. DTS latched on within seconds for practically the first time in his life (he was 80% TT). Really recommend her - v calm and professional.
