We are indeed all in it together. Just going to have a rant about dh. So, I get up between 5.30 and 6am every day of the week after having got up at least once in the night but more like 3-4 times whilst he sleeps soundly. Dh never does a night feed despite the fact that baby small is now on bottles so he could certainly do a weekend.Dh slept until 8.30 this morning, that's late in my eyes! I went out to the supermarket this morning to get stuff for supper whilst he looked after baby small. I walked as there is too much snow even for the 4wd I struggled back uphill with heavy bags and said could he go to the butchers as I'd not been able to carry anything else. Dh got very cross and started muttering because he had to walk the dog and now the extra task of going to the butcher. Well I'm sorry but would he like to swap duties because I am more than happy to let him be the one who does absolutely everything else in this house. Bloody man.

funchum8am · 23/03/2013 12:35

geekette you are fully entitled to feel grumpy and it is NOT your fault. It is just the luck of the draw if you get a wakeful baby. I am telling myself we will get some kind of karmic return eg angelic toddlers!

small your post was a good reminder for me never to moan as DH has so much to do. I am feeling a bit sorry for myself cos I have lots of marking as well as having done night duty between 3 and 5am (dreadful night here tooSad ) but it is nothing compared to full parental duty 24/7 all week. You get mrgreen told!!

MrsNPattz · 23/03/2013 13:12

Sometimes they just don't get it do they small!!

Smallgreenone · 23/03/2013 13:15

I asked him what was wrong apparently he's TIRED- are you kidding me?!
Just got back from the butchers as he didnt go.
They don't get it at all! Oh we'll never mid count to ten and carry on!

Susieloo · 23/03/2013 13:37

I would be Angry too small and agree with mrsn they just don't get it.

geek you are not doing anything wrong-funch is right it's just the luck of the draw.

I have had to cancel my plans to go and stay with my friend which I'm gutted about but the weather is too unpredictable and more snow forecast.

I keep being hit by the wall of tiredness today, bb having a nap and then I'm going to hospital to see db, they are keeping him in until at least Monday to try and get his diabetes under control.

Dp on night feeds tonight so I'm on wine duty.

One other thing I've been thinking about as I try and find a solution to our nighttime adventures is our neighbours, we are mid terrace and although they are both really kind whenever I apologise if bb is waking them I know they can hear him so I don't feel I can leave him to cry at 3am. Anyone else worry about the neighbours?

Babybeesmama · 23/03/2013 15:07

Well I have a very poorly boy. He looks awful :( chesty, full of cold, been sick x3 and still not pooped, he's got really bad tummy cramps. Think it may not of helped that I gave him follow on milk, first milk wasn't available on asda online so I got that as says suitable from 6 months however from reading about it, it contains more iron so can cause constipation :( feel guilty. He's drunk 1oz of warm water & is sleeping now. We have SO much snow, won't be going anywhere today, which is annoying, as ordinarily I may have taken him to walk in centre to have him checked over. Buses are suspended up here. Sending DH down to co op to get first milk shortly when he wakes up from his nap x

abi2790 · 23/03/2013 16:14

My DP is the same sometimes small. They just don't get it men do they?

I think my poor boy isn't feeling too great today :( He's been really upset and crying like I've never heard him cry before. He's asleep on my boob atm. Think I'm going to let him nap on me today rather than putting him in his crib :) I've noticed that his thrush (he's had it since about 1 wo) may have got to his bum too. It's driving me nuts! I tried EVERYTHING twice to get rid of it on his tongue but nothing worked so I thought it was best to leave it as it wasn't hurting him. Now I'm worried that's what's making him uncomfortable :(

Sorry for the rant!

funchum8am · 23/03/2013 17:19

Susie I really hope all goes well for your brother.

Small sounds like your DH is getting a vegetarian dinner Wink

BrainGoneAwol · 23/03/2013 18:27

Agree about not getting it. Interestingly a friend of mine has just gone back to work and her dh is going to be a sahd. He's already said how much harder it is than he thought and that was on day 1!

Ugh. What happened to spring? Sad

abi has your gp no suggestions?

amey I hope your ds gets better soon. It's awful when they're unwell and you feel powerless to help.

On the plus side, there are some wheetabix chocolate brownies just out of the oven (nigella receipe) Grin

abi2790 · 23/03/2013 18:38

brain - go first prescribed nystatin for ds and dactarin cream for me and that didn't work for a couple of weeks so go changed it to dactarin gel for ds and for me to carry on the cream but that didn't work either. I was then given fluconozole and ds was given nystatin again and that didn't work. That's when I decided to leave it but then I noticed his bum was really red with little white blobs when I was wiping him today. It's really upsetting me Sad

MissingMyMarbles · 23/03/2013 19:06

Just put Missmarbles to bed, and haven't time to do full post right now, but Abi, are you sure it's thrush in his tongue and not just milk curds? If you can't get rid of it, and his tongues not very red underneath and you don't have any probs with your boobs it might just be curds? Also, if it is curds, then it might just be a bit of chafing around his bum? You've probably already looked into that possibility, just thought I'd askSmile

Will check in later

abi2790 · 23/03/2013 19:44

That's what I thought it was marbles but when we went to the hospital about his jaundice they said it was thrush. It really doesn't look like it though. he just has a white tongue. Plus he's had a red bum since birth and I've started putting bepanthen on it to see if that would help which I guess could be the white blobs but I bath him most days so surely it would have been washed off? I don't know whether I should go back to the go for the millionth time :s

MrsNPattz · 23/03/2013 20:17

Poor babies Abi and Amey - really hope they pick up soon!

Mmmmm weetabix brownies - off to investigate..........

Boring day here, cleaning and not much else! Little man has sat down with us for 3 meals today which has been lovely, he's loving chewing on food although not eating much!

I'm making lunch tomorrow for in laws - sweet potato soup followed by cake pops, all WW mwahahaha Grin

MissingMyMarbles · 23/03/2013 20:17

Intruder feed. A little later than normal. Do hope it's not first feed otherwise it may herald another crappy night.

I can't remember where I read it but thrush is unlikely in babies less than either 2 or 4 weeks (can't remember that either, not very helpful am I?). Also, have you been symptomatic at all?? Do the blobs wash off his bum when you wipe/bathe him? It doesn't sound like typical thrush.

MissingMyMarbles · 23/03/2013 20:19

Sometimes nappies leave a hooey sweaty bit that looks a bit like a thrust blob- naice!!

MissingMyMarbles · 23/03/2013 20:20

Hooey?? *Gooey!!

Babybeesmama · 23/03/2013 20:26

Not going well here. I'm worried about him. :( still seems in pain despite calpol & nurofen x

abi2790 · 23/03/2013 21:02

Nope I've not had any symptoms marbles other than pain in my boobs which I thought might have been ductal thrush but the treatment didn't work so I think it's probably just a strong let down. The blobs do go when I wipe him but it still looks sweaty (yuck!). If it was milk curds on his tongue would I be able to wipe them away cos I've tried wiping it and its not going anywhere. What can I try wiping it with? I've tried a clean nappy and cotton buds but I'm not sure what else I can use in case it comes off on his tongue. Aarrgghh it's so stressful! Makes me feel like a bad mummy cos I can't keep his tongue clean :(

Hope everyone gets some good sleep tonight. DS had a late nap so I've just finished bathing and massaging him. He's having his bedtime feed now and hopefully will have a nice, long sleep (wishful thinking!) :)

MissingMyMarbles · 23/03/2013 22:02

It sounds like curds to me, Abi. Does it seem to get less between feeds? Curds are like a coating, and quite thin, whereas thrush can be quite cottage cheesey. And it may bleed when it was rubbed if it was thrush. If he's had it a long time, he would probably have patches on the roof of his mouth, inner cheeks and gums too. This page shows a picture and the breastfeeding network is really helpful about such stuff too. It's really difficult to keep their tongues milk free, especially if they're feeding 3 hourly. It really bothered me that it might be thrush with Missmarbles but our HV (who is really sensible and fab) said it was just curds and not to worry too much. I told her I couldn't get it cleared, as she was feeding and sometimes still does about 2 to 3 hourly at the time. Eventually it just went.

Susie I hope they get your brother's sugar under control soon and he gets on the mend. Scary times.

Mmmm weetabix brownies, may have to investigate that further, Brain Grin

Aw Amey, it's horrible when they're poorlySad I hope he's ok and you both get a good night's sleep, and that he will feel better in the morning.

Sorry for hopeless DH's, Small. I don't think men do get it, and how they manage to conclude they are more tired is incredibleGrin I think carrying and bearing the baby, which takes it out of you, and then you don't really recover properly before you start the sleepless nights; it's eshausting, but I don't know a single couple who doesn't have this tiredness competition at some point when their children are little.

BrainGoneAwol · 23/03/2013 22:52

When I saw the brownie receipe I think I saw a ww or slimmers world version. Worth looking at. They're yum - lighter than normal brownies but v tasty. Smile

Babybrain is also very sad. His teeth are causing all sorts of problems. Much high pitched wailing going on and that's just me

Hope those poorly babies sleep well and long.

funchum8am · 23/03/2013 22:53

ok silly question but can a baby burp if they are sucking their thumb? babyfunch sticks her thumb in straight after dreamfeed and I don't know whether to persevere with burping or not as it never seems to happen and I winder if the sucking prevents her burping?

serious science there.

Babybeesmama · 23/03/2013 22:58

Still awake here :( after 2 nights of next to no sleep at all I'm starting to get particularly ratty. Feel like punching DH for no reason other than I have to spell out what needs doing around house in minute detail & he still doesn't do it . I'm trying not to get cross, or cry, but I don't think I can physically cope with another night like last night :(

geekette · 23/03/2013 23:16

I can't say I have tries to burp whilst sucking my thumb. must be possible though as the airway isn't blocked?
I could ponder this all night Grin

oh small. I sympathise. I would be lost if my dh did that!

and amey, my lo has always had a white tongue and white stuff on her gums. gp said it was milk... the stuff on her bum could be unrelated?

not looking forward to tonight. finding it hard to control the temperature of her room and she has woken up 4 times already in 4 hours and she has 2 cutting teeth which have still got far to go. hanging in there. hopefully all will change before the in-laws come next month. I don't think I'll survive the comments!

geekette · 23/03/2013 23:20

xpost bbmama! don't worry, that was what I thought two weeks ago but the body does cope! hang in there!

ratbagcatbag · 24/03/2013 00:35

Hi bb, sharing sleeplessness here, cat bag had her feed and is not seeming to settle at all :( and she'll want another feed at 2:30, snuggles for another ten mins then going to try and put her in Moses basket. DH now sleeping through her crying so all on me, but he does take her morning and evening so I can catch up an hour or twos sleep.
