First feed here, baby larle slept through his top up bottle tonight so didn't get it till 11 ish. He is also starting to refuse the boob if he isn't hungry, used to suckle himself to sleep on it!
Hope you have enjoyed your night susie
Sorry to hear of the bad nights out there.
Baby larle had his feed and now lying here gooing at me and watching tv!

BrainGoneAwol · 17/02/2013 05:10

Oooh silence from everyone -Hope that means lots of good sleeping and not that everyone is either comatose with lack of sleep or wandering the streets with sleepless babies. Hmm

goat oh no! We use washables in the day and once I forgot to put a waterproof outer wrapper on at all. Babybrain soaked through everything in about 15 mins, including mil's lap Blush

Second wake here so pretty good for babybrain Smile. Finished feeding... Now to achieve successful transfer...

BrainGoneAwol · 17/02/2013 05:16

Oh, not silence... I just wasn't on the last page! Blush

funch oh what I wouldn't give for a manual! I'm seriously considering doing baby signing, so babybrain can tell me what he wants before he can talk.

larle I can't watch tv at night babybrain finds it too distracting and is a nosy so'n'so

larlemucker · 17/02/2013 05:31

Glad I'm not the only one to do that brain!!

MrsNPattz · 17/02/2013 07:30

Little man slept until now after his last feed which is good so I'm sorry I got annoyed Blush I woke at 2 cause for some reason I all of a sudden remembered I hadn't taken my tablets - I think I was dreaming about it!!

Hope you all got your little people settled and have managed some sleep!

Hope you are ok Susie.

TheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 17/02/2013 08:23

Not a great one for us last night, many wakings ending in co sleeping from 3ish, then by just gone 6 she decided it was time to get up. I'm fearing the return of the 5am Sundays that dd1 put me through for a good few months when she was about this age.

susie how was your night off? Hope things were all ok back at your house too.

Trying to get babylump off to nap now, she's been whiney and yawning so with any luck I might get to go back to sleep for a bit too who am I kidding

MissingMyMarbles · 17/02/2013 09:17

Two hourly feeding since midnightHmm but no transfer fails.

We use washables during the day and a disposable at night, only we've been using disposies for a while during the day too because Missmarbles is desperately trying up move and was getting mad because she couldn't turn over easily in the big onesGrin When she crawls, probably in the next week or two, we'll go back to them.

jemima86 · 17/02/2013 10:48

Morning all, hope those that had bad nights have a better day!
I can't believe how many of you do the night shifts by yourself, how the hell do you do it!? Me and dp have taken night feeds in turn, I try and express so he can feed her during the night but if I haven't be does the bum change and I'll feed her.
Dp goes back to work Monday am not looking forward to doing it all by myself, I'm sure it will be fine once I'm used to it. Although I am looking forward to having some time with dd by myself and not having to share!

Need to sort out bedtimes, she feeds and goes down around 7 or 8 then wakes 2-3 hours later is wide awake feeds drops off cries, wide awake feeds drops off cries and so on until about 1am when she finally goes down! During the night she feeds at about 3/4am, 7/8am and one in between. These have been getting easier its just the going to bed so late that's hard!
Any advice for getting her down earlier and stopping the being wide awake when it's our bedtime!?

larlemucker · 17/02/2013 11:07

Sorry peeps but just need to vent. Dh got baby larle dressed this morn so I could get my breakfast before the morning feed. I changed his nappy at 4.30am, he was being dressed about 8.30am.
Me "did you change his nappy"
Dh "no the line was still yellow"
Me "I changed it at half four this morning, are you sure it didn't need doing?"
Dh "yes"
So I feed, Ds falls asleep. Go upstairs to get dressed and he is awake again so I go to change nappy (this being an hour after the above conversation) and he is covered in wee. Soaked through nappy onto vest and trousers so full outfit change. There is no way he weed that much in an hour.
Why didn't he just change his nappy, surely that's common sense first thing in the morning.

Rant over!!!!

StitchAteMySleep · 17/02/2013 11:19

Waking every 2 hours here too.

DH took her in the front room at 7.30am and played with her and dd1 until Stitch got tired at 10am so I got to snooze. He is now cleaning up and giving me a lazy day. He did nothing other than season the chicken for dinner yesterday as he was ill.

Goat my sympathies hope you got a bit more sleep after your last post.

Funch sounds like a mini growth spurt going on or sometimes mine do this if they have just learnt to do something new like rolling, crawling etc.

Larle that is good if he will settle without boob if not hungry.

Brain I used baby signing lots with dd1 it was great, with Stitch not so much as she started speaking earlier and quite clearly communicates what she wants.

Your night sounds good MrsN.

Heff have you got blackout curtains? I keep meaning to get some for the kids bedroom as Stitch seems to be waking earlier as the sunrise gets earlier.

Susieloo · 17/02/2013 17:30

Hello everyone

Babyloo used to be like this jemima and he just sort of grew out of it which is not helpful I know but I don't think there is anything you can do.

Agree larle that sometimes I feel like I have to state the obvious or spell things out.

mrsn I've got annoyed with babyloo even though its totally irrational but sometimes its just so frustrating.

I did have a lovely time last night but hated dp not having his mobile-I woke up really early when the booze wore off so ended up coming home at half seven, I'm going to stay again in march so hopefully I will be able to chill out a bit more.

Dp had a really unsettled night with numerous wakings and he ended up bringing him downstairs at four and rocking him in his chair, not sure if it was related to me not being there or not.

I am debating an early night with a couple of glasses of wine, not sure which will win!!

We are on last feed before bed with a very overtired and grumpy baby.

Have good nights everyone

MissingMyMarbles · 17/02/2013 17:48

Routine has been a nightmare today. Sundays are never easy but it has been particularly busy today. Naps have been a bit if a disaster so no idea what I'm in for tonight. That said, she doesn't seem to be too overtired. She's having her pre-bath roll around naked on the floor, which she loves, then calms down in the bath before jarmies and feed in a darkened room.

ChilliBanana · 17/02/2013 18:24

Knackered already and that's before I've tackled bedtime! Every 2hours for the past 2 nights, bleurgh, and didn't get a lie in this weekend as DH was helping his brother move house both days. Luckily he's got some time off over the next 2weeks before I go back to work, so I shall be taking advantage Wink

jemima I've been doing the nights on my own apart from one heavenly night I armed DH with expressed milk and crashed in the spare room with my earplugs in. However DH has been told in no uncertain terms that this will be changing when I go back to work or I'm afraid I'll fall apart into millions of tiny pieces, especially if he keeps waking as much as he is now. As to the bedtimes, baby chilli used to go down at midnight, then 10.30, then 8, and now 7 but it wasn't anything I did, so hopefully your DS will stop the unsociable hours soon.

Ooh, stitch blackout curtains, what a great idea.

marbles we've been thinking about washable nappies, which ones do you use?

larle that does my head in, I've had a few very similar conversation with my own DH - surely it's common sense!

Praying for a bit more sleep between feeds tonight but not getting my hopes up. I've noticed that if I've eaten dairy baby chilli eats (and poos!) more often during the day. I've been really strict with myself the last few days and he's gone back to 3 hours or so between feeds. So it will be interesting so see if he continues to space his feeds through the night, or feeds more please god no to make up for it.

See you in the wee small hours.

MissingMyMarbles · 17/02/2013 18:50

On bedtime feed now. Have had to give calpol for serious eat pulling. She's been really droolly and chewy today too, so I'm thinking, either she's getting used to her new teeth, or she's about to present some more Hmm

Chilli we use TotsBots but mainly because my friend sold me a near complete set very cheaply. I quite like them but Missmarbles has chubby thighs so I have to make sure they are positioned perfectly, so as to go high enough at the back and not pull too much on said thighs. The outers are roomy though. I used terry squares with DD1 and like those too as you fold to your needed size and shape. I found the best outers for those were kushies but they seem to be like hen's teeth these days. Thankfully I still have my old ones. Your initial outlay with terry squares is cheaper too.

Eek she's just gone sparko in only one side....

Missmarbles sorted her own bed time out eventually, too, Jemima. She began by cluster feeding up until midnight some nights and then I realised after a while I was sitting with a sleeping baby on my lap, so started putting her down earlier and earlier til bedtime is now 6.30/45.

Ok she's transferred. See you all later no doubt.

funchum8am · 17/02/2013 19:38

Chilli we use a mix of washable nappies, my favourites are little lambs bamboo but with Motherease Rikki wraps, the LL ones allow leakage too easily. I also like the trial pack of Motherease wizard duo but they are hugely expensive so I have one day, one night and one outer only. Pondering investing in more though.

Hoping for sleepy nights for us all....hosting our NCT group with DH tomorrow so he can sort of settle in...morning of baking ahead!

Ameybee · 17/02/2013 19:46

We had a decent night again! Down at 730, feeds at 1230 and 430 then down till almost 8am and all night in his cot!

We've had a fab weekend with my Uni friends, makes me realise how much I miss them :(. DD cried when they left! Wish we lived closer!

Xxx

MissingMyMarbles · 17/02/2013 20:56

Aww Amey, I love my uni mates. There were 5 of us that shared a house and we were, and to a large extent still are, like sisters. We're all over the country now but try to meet up a couple of times a year.

MrsNPattz · 17/02/2013 21:10

Little man has diarrhoea Sad anyone know what might cause this, or could it be a bug?

MrsNPattz · 17/02/2013 21:24

I should add he's completely fine in himself - in fact he is completely wide awake at the moment, kicking, shrieking, giggling! I'm wondering if we should maybe try putting him down at his last nap - 6:30/7ish. But then we are worried he will wake at 4, if he stays down at all Blush

MissingMyMarbles · 17/02/2013 21:30

What do you mean by diarrhoea,MrsN?

If he's fine, still ebf, the poo smells normal (sorry), it may be runnier than normal without bring diarrhoea?

MissingMyMarbles · 17/02/2013 21:37

That should be diarrhoea. Not diarrhoea? Hmm

BrainGoneAwol · 17/02/2013 21:49

We have some motherease with waterproof outers which babybrain is now growing out of (really good for no leaks at al) but mostly Bumgenius which will see him through to hopefully being out of nappies. We still use a disposable for nights as they last longer.

Your local council might give a voucher towards buying them too. A number of London ones give you around £50 as that's what they calc they save in landfill costs.

Right. First feed was at 7 when we had our supper. Hoping this one will see him through for a bit.

larle we've had that conversation too!

MrsNPattz · 17/02/2013 22:05

Oh ok Marbles - it was really runny! It almost poured out. It is really smelly, but it often is! It might just be normal then?

jemima86 · 17/02/2013 22:06

Glad to hear there is hope for earlier bed times, thanks for the info.
larle had the same convo recently but fortunately didn't leak was just a very wet one. Sometimes I think he is harder work than DD!

We tried for an early night DP transferred this worked long enough for me to get into bed before DD woke crying with wind, she has such a loud bum it still makes me laugh every time - whilst feeling helpless that she is uncomfortable and there is nothing I can do :(

She's now snuggled up on me and settled finally will attempt transfer soon although she will probs be awake for next feed in an hour!

Fingers crossed for good nights for one and all!

MissingMyMarbles · 17/02/2013 22:22

MrsN it could be normal. If the smell is the same as normal, it's probably ok. I don't think bf poo smells bad but DH disagrees. Think I'm a weirdoGrin I think if you didn't think he was ill if you hadn't seen the poo, then he's probably ok. See the dr if you're worried but it sounds normal to me. See what the next one is like. Sometimes Missmarbles would be really runny; sometimes if they're really dribbly they swallow mucus and it seems a bit odd too. And if they're a bit colicky the colour changes. I spent a lot if time examining and sniffingGrinBlush Missmarbles nappies around the four month mark, but she was ok in herself, ebf and I decided not to worry. Now she's on solids it's vile! I feel like she has been contaminated!! I'd be worried if it was very runny now.
HTH Smile
