Hi Toodlepip and Brains, nice to 'meet' you. Sorry you had to return too toodle!

Marbles, good luck with the interview! Hope you get some sleep in advance.

Well we fed at 9pm and he's up again already Sad To be fair, I think it was a pain that woke him as he did a poonami immediately after I picked him out of the cot! Feeding again now and fingers crossed we'll get a good stint once he goes down.

As for Christmas presents, a bit sad, but saucepans were my best pressie! I've been wanting a set of le creuset saucepans for a while but couldn't justify the expense for pans, so dh and I decided they would be a joint present and wondered if we'd regret such a 'boring' Christmas present, but just 2 days in and we love them! [sad loser emoticon]

HeffalumpsAndWoozles · 27/12/2012 23:12

Hi everyone, I missed the last few nights as what with it being Christmas everyone in our house stayed up late keeping me company which was lovely.

We're back in Cornwall for a few nights now, sleep wise things at home were going quite well but tonight has been pretty rubbish so far. DH & dd1 had an afternoon 'nap' that lasted 5 hours so that they only got up fifteen minutes before she was, in theory, due to go to bed. Babylump has been tired but whinging since about 6 o'clock and we have had repeated transfer fails. Feeling a bit fed up with everyone tonight as a result.

Re-feeding babylump again now in the hope she will get the picture. Please let her get the picture!

Hope you are all doing ok, amey how are things for you now? Sorry I'm a bit behind on everyone's news will keep trying to catch up!

MrsNPattz · 28/12/2012 00:41

BrainGoneAwol · 28/12/2012 00:56

So much for my optimism... Initial transfer took 1.5 hours and also first feed of the night here. Ho hum.

I hope pans are exciting smicha, I got DP a frying pan that can go in the oven as a main present and got nice new baking stuff from 'iLs. Blush I find baking great with DS as I can usually do it in stages if he needs urgent attention & I feel bf excuses lots of cake

Susieloo · 28/12/2012 02:01

1st feed after a dreamy ish feed at half ten, I'm expecting an early start because he went to bed so early. Understand totally why you are fed up heff-5 hours is a long nap!!

Me and dp going out for a meal tonight, all staying at my mum and dads who are babysitting, really looking forward to it but very, very nervous about itShock

Goatbongohohoandjinglejingle · 28/12/2012 02:06

brain we are cake connoisseurs on this thread and you are only allowed to mention it if you give us a lyrical description of what you bake!! Xmas Grin
We are still eating the leftover boozy chocolate bombes I made for Xmas dinner.

Kid seems to have grown out of all his clothes at once Xmas Hmm how does this happen? Thank goodness for Christmas gift wardrobe!

MrsNPattz · 28/12/2012 03:00

Second feed here zzzzzzzzz I'm sick of it taking ages to fall asleep after I put him down Sad

Those who sleep in the same room as their little ones, do you go to bed at the same time as them, or put them to bed and then go downstairs? I always go to bed with little man as a) I'm tired and b) I don't want to leave him on his own yet even with a monitor, but both MIL and my mum have made comments about this Angry

susie how lovely, are you going anywhere nice?

OP posts:
MrsNPattz · 28/12/2012 03:01

goat boozy chocolate bombs sound wonderful - please give more detail Grin

Ameybee · 28/12/2012 03:35

First feed here since 930! What a good boy!

Eek heff 5 hours is a long nap! Hard isn't it because u know if u wake them they will be crabby. Things good here thanks, doing well on the bottle (with me feeding in night) not sure how long ill keep feeding as he is showing bit of a preference for the fast flow of a bottle, but in general he's so much more settled & bedtimes are much better - no more 3 hours in dark feeding, he has bottle then goes down. Which makes a big difference!

mrsn I was always going to bed at same time as DS, its only over Xmas I've stayed up a bit later, just tell your mum and mil that they would need to go to bed early if they'd had 14 weeks of interrupted sleep! With teething, we always found an anbesol the best thing (but think its over 12 months). Over 6 months - bickie pegs are good. Before then just calpol and teething gel! And if its quite bad I found ibuprofen best with DD and it lasts longer. Lets hope we all have easier times with teething than we have sleep!

Health visitor came this am and DS has put 8oz on in 10 days so she was v pleased. She thinks I was so down because of pure sleep deprivation, I think so too but am keeping an eye on my mood & will chat to gp anyway. My brother has his second operation on 9th jan, fingers crossed all goes well.

Hi to brain Grin

Xx

BrainGoneAwol · 28/12/2012 04:05

Second feed...

Mrsn We definitely go to bed at the same time as DS. I'd be exhausted otherwise and DP shows solidarity is a sleep junkie so comes as well. Have stayed with both sets of family over the Christmas period and they have each interrupted on the first night as they don't quite believe we are going to bed already!

Goat ooh, yes, details of the bombes please!

Planning to move DS into his own room when we are back home as he's nearly too big for his basket. Not looking forward to night feeds then as I'll have to go next door to feed him and I suspect he'll be crying before the monitor wakes me; whereas currently I'm up quick enough to keep him half asleep Sad

StuntNun · 28/12/2012 04:08

Third feed of the night here including me holding him in bed for two hours which probably wasn't ideal. I'm tired beyond belief now. I wish i could sleep during the day but when I went to have a nap yesterday DS2 woke me up after five minutes by slamming doors. DH doesn't seem to understand that I can't just go to sleep any time of day, it has to be when I'm tired and not after three cups of tea trying to stay awake.

funchum8am · 28/12/2012 04:25

Welcome brain!
marbles apologies for randomly offering interview luck to susie instead of you! I hope you ace it!

Second feed here but have brought babyfunch into bed as she slept 5 hours in the car on the way home from Bradford so I suspect will need some convincing to go back to sleep. So more hip pain for me, but probably more sleep too in the long run.

mrsn we have babyfunch on the monitor in our room and then go back downstairs but as she drops off around 6 it is a bit early for me to go to bed. Quite often I go to bed around 8 though Grin. I have recently got into bad habits of staying up later as DH is on school holidays so can take her in the morning and let me sleep, but I will have to stop again in January when term begins.

I have downloaded the NHS couch to 5k podcast and plan to start tomorrow...I feel soooo wobbly and horrible! Anyone else fancy it?

Susieloo · 28/12/2012 05:13

Really hope this isn't morning!!

Sometimes I go to bed with babyloo at 6.30 ish but normally read for an hour before going to sleep and on other nights I'll stay up and have a couple of glasses of wine with dp and go to bed about 8.30.

I have downloaded couch to 5k but I can't imagine doing it yet even though he's five months I need a few unbroken nights-or nights only broken once.

So many things to eat in the fridge but want to make the most of my next hour in bed.

MiniPopsMum2012 · 28/12/2012 05:44

Merry Christmas everyone, hopefully you all had lovely festivities.

Sorry for disappearing, Have been lurking, but just too tired to catch up on news and coordinate a coherent response. Sleep no better here, sometime we have good night's and sometimes we gave rubbish nights.

Anyhoo, leaviny

MiniPopsMum2012 · 28/12/2012 05:46

See - can't type properly!

Anyhoo, leaving you with leftover chrimble cake & mulled wine to enjoy.

(waves at everyone & crawls back under sleep-deprived rock)

StuntNun · 28/12/2012 06:05

Fourth and final feed of the night here then it's 'no sleep' time again.

BrainGoneAwol · 28/12/2012 06:26

Think this probably counts as a morning feed though it definitely feels like nightime still. Going ti try to get another hour maybe before other people wake up.

Out of interest, what times do people call 'night'? I read things about how much sleep babies should have but I never know when night and day start and finish.

Hope you all survived another night! One at a time...

MrsNPattz · 28/12/2012 06:33

Third feed here - rubbish night! Glad we have no plans today. I think he maybe slept too long in the car, or is just unsettled by being in a different place.

amey that's a brilliant stretch! So glad he has put more weight on and things seem to be getting better with the bottle. Yea I just told them we are fine how we do things thanks lol just hate getting bogged down by other people's advice/judgement.

Oh and waves to mini Smile

OP posts:
smicha · 28/12/2012 07:50

We are up for the day after a 2am feed and a rubbish transfer. I was a sleepy idiot and fed from the wrong side though and my giant engorged boob that hadn't been emptied for ages woke me this morning before the baby did!

mrsn I put ds down in his cot and then go downstairs with the monitor, otherwise dh and I would never see each other! I'm always in bed before dh though but often I'll wait until ds's 10/11pm feed and go to bed after that as if I go any earlier I end up lying awake thinking about how I'll only get an hour or so before ds wakes up! This may change now ds is back to waking up more often!!

Susieloo · 28/12/2012 09:05

Hello mini so nice to hear from you

Brain-I think of babyloo's nighttime as 6 until 6 or 7, for a baby his age he is meant to have 14 hours per 24 split into a total of 3 hours during the day and 11 hours at night but because some days we only get a total nap time of an hour and a half I have to put him in bed for longer.

Felt horribly tired when we got up at 7 but not too bad now, getting all my things ready for our meal out tonight-woop woop!!!!

MrsNPattz · 28/12/2012 10:05

Zzzzzzzz lol we got up at half 8, after getting maybe another half an hour or so. So tired but off shopping with mum today, which will be lovely. Really hope it's a better night tonight!

OP posts:
HeffalumpsAndWoozles · 28/12/2012 10:51

Finally got some sleep last night after a bazillion transfer fails, babylump slept midnight til 5am then half 5 til 8am when DD1 woke up and we all got up for the day. She's feeding now and should hopefully go down for morning nap and I can go sit down with a cuppa!

amey so glad things are improving for you, that sleep deprivation is a bitch isn't it. Crossing fingers for your DBro.

marbles good luck for your interview! I know you've said before but what is it you do?

Oh susie jealous of your night out, where are you going? Hope you have a lovely time :)

mrsn I go upstairs to bed at the same time as babylump, but she's still a late sleeper so she doesn't go down until anytime between half 10 and half 12. Now she's outgrown her cocoon I usually put her down in her buggy at one end of the living room so I can rock her to sleep, then I can stay up for a little bit to have a massive glass of wine switch myself off and chat to people before taking her up with me. I think its totally normal to go with your baby even if it is early, you need all the sleep you can get!

goat chocolate bombs sound gorgeous, my stomach is rumbling again now!

funch I've downloaded the app as well, hoping it won't be long before babylump settles into some sort of discernible night time pattern and I can get cracking on getting back into shape. When are you starting it?

Nice to have you back smicha and minipop, although sorry that means your sleep isn't going well again.

to everyone else. Have good days today, see you all tonight :)

StuntNun · 28/12/2012 11:37

Oh no Smicha, I hate it when I do that. And then when you're awake waiting for baby to wake up for a feed instead of the other way round!
