Second feed here giving me time for my birth story. Went into labour at 7am, within 40 mins contractions were every 3 mins. Called DMIL at 8am to take DS1 to school and she insisted on coming to see how I was doing!!!!!Shock Why!?! Well so she could tell all the school mums that she thought j would have the baby on the motorway!!! Grrrrr!! In fact I could have. Called hospital at 9, they offered an ambulance (did I sound that bad?!?!) but we went by car at 100mph with me shouting "just f**king hoot" at DH when cars wouldn't get out of the way! Grin Ready to push in the car, but made it to hospital and was 10cms. Insisted on epidural (mummy instinct after 3 hrs of pushing with DS2 resulted in EMCS) an was right to as DS2 got stuck "rolling around on huge bag of waters" which when the broken them was like a tsunami! Heart rate issues meant they whipped him out with forceps in the end, but all done in time for hospital lunchSmile

Sorry for not name checking but transfer time. Night nightShock

JRsandCoffee · 20/12/2012 05:25

First feed here, not sure what happened!!! Set alarm for 4 after bedtime feed at ten went s bit wrong....went upstairs to change and go to bed after trf complete and as she got a bit cross about change gave her a bit more lying down....which she puked up, straight throug muslin and over duvet..... Change duvet, baby wide awake, try to sleep, happy smiley baby doing highland fling in cot, baby poonami audible, get up and change very cheery wide awake baby, feed a bit more, enjoy midnight hour....finally everyone settles Smile

Love the birth stories although sorry to hear about the hard ones. My waters went in a trickle with no signs of labour on the Tuesday, went in, they looked and weren't sure so sent me home. Spent afternoon on sofa them decides to cook...Sat down to dinner to feel same sensation as earlier, more pink water (sorry if TMI) still no other signs, back to hospital, another check, waters gone slowly but lots still there and they keep me in to induce on the Wed. Everyone decides to give birth on the Wed so no room to induce me do nothing happens apart from an emergency trip to mothercare (5 weeks early and too superstitious to have bought much....didn't even have a hospital bag!!). Go home for dinner but return to hospital declining the offer to stay at home. Go to bed in four bed holding room at back if labour ward. Wake at 1am to lady opposite screaming in pain and being given some painkillers....get up to go to the loo, think gosh these curse type pains are bad, wander back to bed. Lie in bed wondering at pains, worry about quiet baby, buzz for midwife who arrives looking flustered and puts me on monitor, baby fine, she sprints off. Wonder a bit more at pains and around 2.30 decide they are quite business like, ring for midwife who looks like she's hoping it won't come to much, and says to wait a bit...around 3.30 ring again as am now sure and she says, hummm yes, 4 cm, 4.00 am call husband, contractions quite lively.... Finally get a room, the move to another better on, 6am declare desire to push MW not convinced but looks and cervix gone so gives go ahead. Push for two and a half joyless hours, nothing happens, get cross and demand doctor, shift change, new MW, doctor, theatre, the heaven of a spinal block and baby delivered by forceps, 9.30 am.....back to back, head turned, cord round her neck, very happy that theatre and doc were so near when I needed them!

Ok, trf and wind complete, sleeeeeeeeeep! Hope everyone getting some sleep!

StuntNun · 20/12/2012 06:42

Sorry to hear it's another bad night Susie. J didn't quite make it through on one feed after his late night, we're just on the second now.

Have you checked your position Macaroons to be sure you're not putting pressure in that part of the breast during feeding OR part of your clothing is pressing on it? I had problems with an errant bra strap one time.

Loving reading the BS I'm a nosy person!

Funch you are a hero for wanting to foster/adopt. My BFF is just nearing the end of the process (after fertility issues, Clomid and failed IVF) and hopes to become a mum to a little boy in February. She has had a long battle with infertility as well as going through the drawn out adoption process but I do have the tiniest, completely unreasonable, bit of envy that she is missing the newborn sleepless nights stage! I can't wait until February to meet her little boy.

Smallgreenone · 20/12/2012 07:09

Hi macaroons I remember you from the sept thread too. Sorry to hear about blockage.
We've had one three hour stint here and lots more wakings. So tired.
Glad you got some profiteroles susie!
Enjoying the birth stories. Some sound scary though perhaps I'll have another cs next time after all!!!
We've got friends who've adopted too. Lovely little boys although one has been diagnosed autistic and is quite difficult. DH has an adopted sister too. It's great you're thinking of doing it funch

Goatbongohohoandjinglejingle · 20/12/2012 07:52

Good morning! Sorry to hear about the bad nights. We finally had a reasonable one. Three feeds and sleep in between with Ewan working overtime. Extra grass for him today.
Re the keeping Kid in the room with us/me, that will definitely be to six months. I am paranoid about his breathing and am known to check obsessively when he is asleep! (although he found his volume button last night so I would say his lungs are fine now Xmas Hmm )
Birth stories are great to read, though there are some horror ones! I think I have yet to meet someone who has had that mythical "straightforward" birth...
And mine. I went to my 31 week checkup feeling like twelve shades of hell, bp and protein through the roof, and so swollen I was squinty eyed. Doctor looked at me vaguely and asked if I was worried about anything... Fortunately midwife came in took one look and sent me off to the hospital. (took a bus, which looking back was maybe not the best idea but hey, wasn't thinking very straight!) Was admitted immediately, tests showed everything was deteriorating rather rapidly so they had to decide to take Kid out that day. One set of steroid injections for the lungs, no time to wait for the second. Thank goodness Kid was not distressed at all, though also not even engaged so the cs scar is quite large! I saw him for all of about ten seconds before he was whipped off to NNU then didn't see him again for four days Xmas Sad DH was going down and taking photos for me to see! Poor Kid had to have surgery twice for a pneumothorax, we were both not great for a week, then everything improved rapidly and he finally came home on 12 August. And is now lying here trying to roll over by the simple method of throwing himself sideways across the bed! Xmas Smile
Hope everyone has lovely days, and naps for those who need them!

MissingMyBaubles · 20/12/2012 09:25

Missmarbles went to bed just after 6, then fed at 8.30, then 9.30 Xmas Hmm and then every three hours thereafter. But on the plus side they were efficient feeds and no transfer failures. Up for the day at 7.30ish.

Loving the birth storiesXmas Grin

Yours sounds pretty similar to my first, Goat. Scary stuff; glad all ok now Xmas Smile

Thus time, I was crapping myself most of my pregnancy and was in denial that I would have to labour at full time. They weren't going to let me go beyond 39 weeks and at 38 weeks my BP shot up, abd delivery was mooted, but everything else seemed ok, so I went in for induction at 39 weeks. They said they would only let me go 12 hours following induction before proceed to section in the light if my history. We went to the hospital at midday, didn't get clerked by dr til 3. Pessary didn't go in til 5, not much happened til mild cramps at 11ish, some regularity but not much intensity so pessary removed at 5am and made nil by mouth for c. section (I wasn't even allowed a drinkXmas Hmm). Finally got to theatre about 3.30 and was really poorly in theatre but Missmarbles was delivered at 4.05pm. In recovery BP shot up and I lost partial vision which was scary as I had that last time but before delivery. It only lasted very briefly and everything settled down again within 10 minutes. Went to ward around 10.30pm and had to stay there for 48 hours. If there's a next time (and I hope there is), I'm supposed to have a c. section having had 2 emergency ones now, but I will self discharge after 24 hours because the ward was awful and I wish I'd self discharged this time.

Goatbongohohoandjinglejingle · 20/12/2012 09:52

Oh baubles I remember the nil by mouth bit... Not even a mouthful of water... That first slurp of ice cold water was the best thing I have ever tasted! And the tea and toast after 72 hours... A veritable feast.
Scary stuff indeed, glad yours has a happy ending too! Xmas Smile

MrsNPattz · 20/12/2012 10:02

Oh goat how scary for you and poor little kid - but glad to hear he is doing so well now.

We woke up at half 8 and I jumped in the shower while little man was entertaining himself in his cot.

I'm nervous about my appointment today - but more about parking in town lol!

Hope we all have good days - amey how are you feeling?

OP posts:
Smallgreenone · 20/12/2012 11:32

goat that is a scary story, so glad all turned out well.
I remember nil by mouth too although I was allowed water. To make it worse my consultant, DH and all my family went for lunch together at a really nice pub!!! I was left on my own starving whilst they had three courses of delicious food Angry

Goatbongohohoandjinglejingle · 20/12/2012 12:09

small that's outrageous! Your DH owes you so many pub meals as interest!!

Macaroons · 20/12/2012 13:13

Thanks for tips re sorting out blocked duct. After posting I put DS by my side at 3am and just let him suck for hours, it's gone softer now, phew!!!Shock was soooo worried last night!

Enjoyed reading the birth stories, although none of them sound straight forward! Mine was long, 50 hours since being admitted till baby is out; at one point it failed to progress so they wanted to send me home. I begged them to let me stay for longer as I worried that I had to go back when i was home. They kept me in the end as my heart beat and baby's heart beat was high. Was continuously monitored and they decided to break my water and induce me. Had epidural which made it a lot more bearable yet I could still feel contraction when time to push. Baby was back to back at one point but midwife told me to lie on my left and that helped baby move to the right orientation. Baby was out after approx 15 min of pushing which was better than expected! Glad to have epidural so I could nap while waiting for it to dilate, but it did give me a numb left leg for 2 months!!!

After going through labour / c section do you want another child? I think I do but I need to convince DH as he's an only child himself and wants just one, whereas I have a sister, and I think I want 2 kids so they have company. Will be a debate in a year or so!

MrsNPattz · 20/12/2012 18:04

My boy just lifted his head for the first time Grin proud mummy!

My appointment today was fine, more admin really. Got my first proper appointment in Jan.

OP posts:
MrsNPattz · 20/12/2012 18:05

macaroons that is hard going!! I think I would like another but not for a while Smile

OP posts:
Smallgreenone · 20/12/2012 18:19

I'd definitely like another, I'm one of three and love my brothers so wouldn't want to deprive baby small of all the fun we had as children. Will be a while though as my body needs to recover!

DH has now finished for Christmas so we are having a celebratory meal for which I have bought more profiteroles! I didn't realise they were £6 a box though Shock! Bought with other things last time so their expensiveness was hidden but today bought them alone and was rather shocked! Hope everyone's had a good day. See you all later.

HeffalumpsAndWoozles · 20/12/2012 19:06

Ah well done baby patz Xmas Grin

Hi macaroons good to have you here with us :)

I definitely want a third, have always wanted a big family and have been lucky enough not to have experienced anything too scary to put me off. Tbh if I could guarantee a repeat of DD2s birth I'd do it all again tomorrow. Unfortunately I can't so I'll still worry just as much, especially seeing as I've had a 9.2oz followed by 9.8oz, bit concerned number 3 could tip the 10lb mark Confused

We've had a nice day today, braved the weather to go feed the ducks and jump in puddles this morning then had a leisurely afternoon indoors making tents out of blankets and ignoring the big pile of presents I'm meant to have wrapped by now.

small your DH definitely owes you a few meals out now!

Smallgreenone · 20/12/2012 20:31

Two delightfully medium rare rib eye steaks on the table, one mouthful in cue screaming from baby small - how do they manage it!!! He is at least feeding properly and not just requiring a cuddle so that is some consolation.

Ameybee · 20/12/2012 20:48

small I reckon they have links to the oven!!
mrsn well done little man!!
heff I also always wanted 3 - me and DH are both one of 3 but I think now I'd have to consider it carefully, finances etc.

We've been busy, out all day at toddler group Xmas party then at MIL to catch up with family over from Sweden, just picked up DH from Xmas do - clearly pissed but pretending not to be Angry, not sure what pisses me off most - fact that he is or that he's pretending not to be!!! Oh well, he'll pay for it Tomo!
Baby bee did a huge giggle today! If melted my Envy!! X

Susieloo · 20/12/2012 21:33

We are on third feed since easy bed time at 6.30, really hope he isn't going to keep this up all night although my mum and dad are going to have him in the morning and not bring him back until I ring so hopefully I can have a good sleep, feel weirdly guilty that they are having him when I'm not doing anything as such!!

We've got steak for tea tomorrow night, from the moment babyloo was born he has started crying the moment I start eating, he can be fast asleep in his cot and he will wake up before I've swallowed anything, he has a sixth sense.

Rang the dr today because babyloo has a cold and its on his chest I think, she asked me some questions and said he sounds like its just a cold and to take him in tomorrow if I'm worried, think this is why he is waking up so much, he had a two hour nap today which is unheard of and I thought this might help-obviously not!!

No more children for me, babyloo has a brother and 14 cousins so I'm hoping that will be enough for him. I really didn't like being pregnant and I don't think the midwife was very impressed when I turned up for my first appointment and said I was really happy to be pregnant but I didn't want to give birth!!

Anyone have any pregnancy cravings? Mine was milk in the last two months-pints and pints of blue top milk at room temperature and litres of milkshake, I couldn't get enough of it.

Hope everyone has a good night, attempting transfer.....

elvislives2012 · 20/12/2012 21:36

Congrats baby patz!
Lol at babies with links to the oven- same here.
Drunk DPs mean we can chalk it up and use it at a later date!
I'd love another one but want to enjoy this one first.... And I want to get PISSED
How did people introduce a bottle? DD took 3oz of breast milk from a bottle last week from DH. No problems it just wasnt enough. Just tried again with 6oz. She took 3 no problems but then screamed and screamed and bought the whole lot up!

Susieloo · 20/12/2012 23:09

Up again......

MissingMyBaubles · 20/12/2012 23:26

Oh Susie! You sound like you are having a rubbish nightXmas Sad Hope Babyloo settles down soon. FWIW, Missmarbles did this two nights ago but last night was much better; three hourly feeds but successful transfers. Hoping she does at least the same tonight. So far we're on track; she went to bed at 6.30, fed at 7.30 and then again at 10.30. Might be able to push the boat an extra hour or so. Who knows? She's been really clingy today; I haven't been able to leave the room, and she has only been really happy feeding or at least in my arms.

Definitely owed a few pub lunches, I think, SmallXmas Grin

Hello MacaroonsXmas Smile

Well done, baby PattzXmas Smile

Amey - Baby giggles are the best aren't they just? Missmarbles has a right dirty laughXmas Grin DD1 makes her laugh, which in turn makes DD1 laugh and we have a little bit of footage of the two of them just giggling away at each other, soooo cute!! Xmas Smile

I definitely want a third, but it was hard enough getting my two, and I wouldn't mind another sizeable gap soI get to spend the same time with Missmarbles as I had with DD1.

Ameybee · 20/12/2012 23:59

:( susie sounds like a rubbish night - hope it improves!!
First feed here since 9pm, feel knackered. DH took DD from car to bed at 815 and I've not seen him since - he's out cold on the pull out bed! At least we avoided a discussion argument ! I did just hear DD wailing a bit ago which there's no way he will of slept through.

I'm still really worried about baby bees feeding - it doesn't seem to me like he is ever taking much milk, his feeds are so short Confused. MIL kept banging on about how in her day u didn't weigh them all the time etc Etc & how did people cope before formula was invented (she has been one from beginning telling me to top up with formula!) SIL pointed out that it doesn't matter what wasn't there before - its what's available now!
I just wish he would take a bottle Confused feels like its going to be a long slow process.
Just had transfer fail :( attempt 2. X

HeffalumpsAndWoozles · 21/12/2012 00:42

Hope your night improves susie

I'm finally off to bed, had hoped we would have a reasonable bedtime tonight as babylump was screaming tired at 7pm so DH put DD1 to bed while I have babylump a bath and had high hopes that she would drop off afterwards. She did, for an hour then woke up and yelled the house down until about 40 minutes ago :( but eventually she seems to have gone into a deep sleep do I've just put her down in her crib and am hoping for a good stretch of lovely sleep myself

Just been reading a thread about flushing poo from nappies before binning the then empty nappy. I'd never heard of people doing that before MN, now I feel like there's another thing to add to my list of why I am an inadequate parent :( !

MrsNPattz · 21/12/2012 00:43

First feed here less than 3 hours after bed time zzzzzzzzzzz

Why can I not stop eating bad stuff all the time!!

OP posts:
Macaroons · 21/12/2012 00:44

Hello all, after 7pm feed i am doing a midnight feed. Hope he won't get up till at least 4am! It's quite annoying that he sleeps really well after 7pm feed, doesn't get up by himself till we wake him up at 11.45...(so 5 hours between feeds) But the second lag doesn't usually last that long. How I wish he sleeps better in the early hours.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm mad thinking about next baby when DS is only 14 weeks... But I think I want another one and DS would want some company. He really like chatting and smiling to us / our friends, or even the nurse who gave him his jabs today. (Btw he didn't cry!)

He has slowed down with sucking so hopefully can put him down soon.

Hope everyone will have an easy night!
