Am I being unreasonable to be hacked off that MIL just phoned the house at 9pm when she knows little man might be sleeping or am I just looking for reasons to be annoyed her probably second option and I must learn to keep my mouth shut instead of causing rows all the time, this is hard

amey you poor thing you sound like you really need a break. I hope your GP or HV are the helpful understanding sort and can give you some support. I'm finding one of the hardest things now is the guilt over splitting my time between the DDs, to try and help I've been really insistent DD1s bedtime is unchanged and that I still get to spend 20 minutes having bedtime songs & cuddles with her. I still feel bad in the daytime, (although sometimes its guilt that babylump is just being carted around after DD1!) but that 20 minutes each night is so special and I always feel better then.

Can DH give you a little break this week, or any family (sorry I can't remember if you've already said whether they live close by or not).

Sending you many un-MN hugs and hoping tomorrow is a better day.

funch your doctor sounds lovely, how has the gaviscon worked tonight?

I'm taking the plunge and getting a coil fitted tomorrow (sorry if tmi!) I'm a bit nervous has anyone had one before?

Susieloo · 17/12/2012 23:58

Evening all, your dr sounds lovely fun and I hope the gaviscon works.

Heff-I have had three coils fitted although I'm back on the pill now, you will be fine, it's a bit uncomfortable so I always took pain killers before I had it done but then I'm particularly sensitive to any pain to do with my cervix and I had a c section so I imagine compared to giving birth it's nothing!!

Mrsn-it is a daft time to phone a house that has a new baby in, some people just don't think like that though, my mil rang me at 9.10 the other night on my mobile which thank god was on silent because I was asleep!!

I am on first feed since bed so an improvement, hoping for a better night we are going to see the hv tomorrow then I'm braving the hoardes in town to finish of my shopping.

I have been ravenous today and I'm debating toasting two crumpets after this feed I'm so hungry, not sure I can be bothered though.

Hope the sleepy mouse have caught up with everyoneSmile

MissingMyBaubles · 18/12/2012 00:32

Evening all. On second feed but a bit out if kilter. Had to take DD1 to walk-in again because of earache Xmas Sad We waited just over an hour and unfortunately it was over teatime which is Missmarbles worst time of day. DH had had a bit if a struggle with her; she'd refused solid tea and he bathed her and she had fallen asleep after cryingrqeq for a good while just before we came in at 6.30. I woke her and she fed but was a bit out of sorts. She woke again at 9 and then just now, so going she sleeps well from now. I met with my uni mates for our Christmas lunch today - that was very fun, and Missmarbles was cry well behaved except having not pooed for 8 days decided today was the day Xmas Grin

Sorry you're having such a hard time Amey. As others have said, I hope you get some good support from your GP and HV, but also your DH.

Hope the gaviscon is working, Funch.

Transfer complete. Back in bed; just waiting a few minutes to ensure success. Seems all quiet over monitor......
Zzzzzzzzzz

Susieloo · 18/12/2012 02:35

Still on two hourly waking-roll on Friday when I am spending the morning asleep whilst babyloo goes to my mum and dads for a couple of hours.

Clumsasaurus · 18/12/2012 02:41

Hi guys... Apologies for deserting you! We hit a massive sleep regression and I couldn't see straight let alone read/post. We got through it and were back to 2 feeds per night - hurray.,, until last night when I was up feeding 6 times and tonight on my 5th feed already grrrr. I'm beyond tired and frustrated :-(

How is everyone? I have missed you xx

JRsandCoffee · 18/12/2012 02:45

Evening all...... Amey you poor thing, sounds like an awful day, hope your appointments are helpful and sympathetic. Are there any other favourite people (you aside of course) that might be able to spend some time with you all even just for an hour or two and focus on her? I'm sure my Gran's capacity for dominoes and connect 4 saved my mother's sanity big style and for years I believed she really was addicted to both and it was hugely special to devote afternoons to playing with her!!! Fun hope the Gaviscon helps!

Tried to sleep before dreamfeed earlier with no success, gave up at 10.15, just been woken at 2.15 by pooruption and so transfer underway. Have just discovered feeding lying down, super scared I fall asleep but ooooooh the bliss, she LOVEs it!!!

Ameybee · 18/12/2012 03:07

Thank you for all the support ladies, it means a lot. DH does work from home although he has already been helping me quite a lot, he's off on wed for my hospital appointment follow up so at least that's a bit of respite for me. He's been really supportive tonight & not pressuring me into stopping bf at all. He says at least he can take over some feeds.

Given myself a really bad headache thinking about everything. Confused.
jr DD has spent quite a bit of time with my mum who she loves but I don't want to pressure my mum after need about my brother as she's struggling.
Poo explosion - back soon....

Ameybee · 18/12/2012 03:23

Just had some of the biggest smiles whilst nappy changing. Hope this is not a sign of being wide awake.

Yes, so DH says he's under no illusions formula will cure everything but he wants to help me & he can't do that at the mo & feels helpless. I just have no idea how to get DS to take a bottle. How are goat and small getting on with bottles?

heff I've had a coil before - you'll be fine after 2 babies, its the opening of cervix a bit that hurts but after childbirth its much easier & not as painful. Still take pain relief before tho incase of cramps. Think I will get another 1 at some point although currently there's no point as we rarely sleep in same bed, can't say I've been keen to get back on the wagon after 3rd deg tear either Blush, as well as the knackeredness & hairy legs, interrupting baby Etc etc. poor DH!

Well I've had my paracetamol and am hoping baby bee transfers now.

Hope everyone is snoozing. X

MrsNPattz · 18/12/2012 04:52

First feed here - another 6.5 stretch!

It's very quiet so hopefully you are all having good nights!!

clums hello - sorry about your bad nights, hopefully things will start to improve for you!

amey glad you have a supportive hubby Smile

heff never had coil but I have a smear today - not dreading it nearly as much as last time after giving birth when all dignity went out the window Grin

Hi amey sorry to hear you're having a rough ride. Our formula story isn't great I'm afraid. I think it's really unsettling baby small and making his tummy painful. I'm going to buy some comfort milk and see if that helps. He's on one bottle a day of hipp organic but he spent all afternoon crying and has been unsettled all night and it sounds to me like its tummy pain as he keeps grunting and squirming about. If the change to comfort milk doesn't help I'm going back to exclusively bfing him as I can't bear the thought of him being unhappy and if I get mastitis again I'll have to deal with it. Sorry that's not a helpful story!!! People say formula babies are contented as not hungry etc but its not working so far for us!!
Waves to everyone else. Not posted before as too tired Sad off to the shops for some comfort milk and baby small has jabs today, anticipating a bad day! Sad

funchum8am · 18/12/2012 08:37

Thanks all for your good luck messages! The Gaviscon helped a bit but no miracles just yet. we gave her it at feed at 11:15 and she slept til 2:30. She wasn't grunting and gurgling or vomiting but still seemed in pain Sad. I kept her upright til 3:10 and then she went back down but only for 45 mins. Then slept on me til 5, and up for the day at 6:30. This is better but obviously not amazing, but maybe tonight will be another step forward. Need to write it all down here to remind me so I can tell the doctor on Sunday!

amey how are you feeling today?

We missed you too clumsa, really sorry to hear about the big regression! Angry

MrsNPattz · 18/12/2012 08:38

Up time here. I am going to brave town today - cant be bothered but have some things to take back and want it out of the way.

Good luck with the jabs small!

Good morning all. I return after a little absence thanks to a little meltdown of my very own on Sunday which resulted in head-in-metaphorical-blankets for about 48 hours. However Kid has allowed me to sleep until 8:30 this morning so I feel a little more human!

amey so sorry you have had such a hard time. I really hope your DH is being supportive and kind at themoment, I think this can be the biggest help. Formula is working for us, although is not the miracle that people swear by - I am still waiting for a stretch of more than three hours between feeds! Although perhaps we are not the best case study, as given that Kid is a prem, we have extra things to deal with, eg I won't feed him hungry baby milk (constipating) or a lot at once (reflux), and he only got his latch sorted about a month ago, so feed length went down from 90 mins per 30 ml (!) to 10 min per 120! However, three hours sounds like it might be paradise for you! small we tried hipp organic and it really did not suit Kid at all - seems Aptamil is the only one he can stomach properly.

funch I cross my fingers for onwards and upwards on the night feed front.

A wave to everyone else and wishes for a lovely day... Xmas Smile

Clumsasaurus · 18/12/2012 09:39

We tried Hipp too and had similar probs, then tried cow and gate comfort.... Not much better I'm afraid so I went back to EBF and the problems (digestive) righted themselves. We tried babysaurus on a bottle if BM a couple of weeks ago which he took but wasn't overly impressed with it! He's a boobie monster!

We had a record of 7 wake ups last night ranging from 10 mins to an hour... I'm a zombie!

Missed you girls :-)

Ameybee · 18/12/2012 10:08

Off to see the health visitor shortly. Woke up feeling completely overwhelmed and haven't stopped crying. Horrible feeling the PND is back :( x

MrsNPattz · 18/12/2012 13:09

Oh amey I really hope not! Please let us know how you got on if you feel up to it!

Sorry you are having a hard too goat - we are all here to help as much as we can xxx

OP posts:
funchum8am · 18/12/2012 18:31

amey I am thinking of you. I hope the HV is useful. if it is PND it is best to know and get started on tackling it with the full range of support that you deserve Sad

Smallgreenone · 18/12/2012 18:31

Hi clumsasauras welcome back!
amey hope your health visitor has helped you a little. Let us know how you got on and don't forget we're happy to listen to anyone's ramblings as long as it helps!
Jabs weren't as bad as the last lot. Obviously lots of angry tears at the time but less after effects I think. Napping rubbish again and have just had overtired meltdown. Why am I such a rubbish mum that I can't get him to nap and be happy Sad. I hate that our day always ends with this horrid crying and stress.
I didnt buy any comfort milk in the end as will persevere with hipp for a bit longer before I change as it could just be him getting used to it Hmm
Good luck for tonight all. Please let us have some sleep..........

MrsNPattz · 18/12/2012 19:33

Oh small you are not a bad mum! You are a great mum trying your hardest! Do you have a routine that you are trying to stick to for naps?

I have a couple of questions - have you guys ever experienced it where they prefer one boob to the other?? And do you/are you going to use stuff in the bath or just plain water? Thanks ladies xx

OP posts:
Ameybee · 18/12/2012 19:34

Thanks as always ladies. Cried my heart out to the HV - it helped a bit. Babybee has dropped down the centiles again :( he's gone from 50th to 25th and now under 25th. They are coming to see me at home on 27th which is good. They suggested keep trying the bottle for now. Me and DH are going to see how things go but start offering formula.

HV thinks I need to see gp as I have history of pnd & maybe some counselling would help as I told her how guilty I feel about everything & my brother etc. I can't get in with my usual lovely gp before Xmas so was going to leave it but my best friend thinks I need to, she even wanted to drive up from slough to help us, she's amazing.
I feel like I've made a start. I've had the worst headache ever from all the worrying but we will get there.

DS has had 1oz of aptamil through a syringe quite happily, seemed to like the taste!
Xx

Ameybee · 18/12/2012 19:36

And small you are not rubbish for struggling with naps - god knows I am & I was texting a friend with baby same age today & she's been doing car runs at nap time because she can't bear it. You are so not alone there!! X

Susieloo · 18/12/2012 20:04

Hi clums, hope you get some sleep tonight, nice to hear from you.

Amey it sounds like you have a plan which is always a good place to start and I'm pleased the hv was supportive.

Fun, babyloo barely naps at all now, at most I get an hour and a half in the day split into two or three usually, he is 5 months and a bit, I've had to bring his bedtime forward because he is quite demented by five thirty so that's when I bring him up for bath and feed, I don't know anyone who has a consistent nap routine so you're not rubbish just normalGrin

Mrsn-I use a bit of baby bubble bath but might switch to an oil based one because babyloo has a bit of eczema developing, he switches re boob preference at the moment but for a while he definitely favoured one and sometimes refused to feed from the other one!!

Have a good night everyoneSmile

Susieloo · 18/12/2012 20:05

Sorry fun I meant small!!!

StuntNun · 18/12/2012 20:46

MrsN J definitely prefers the left boob! I think the right one lets down a bit fast.

I put Boots baby bath for eczema in J's bath because my DS2 has eczema so I thought it would be a good precaution.
