First feed - amazing!!

funchum8am · 17/12/2012 02:14

First feed, wahey! Sorry to hear of your short stretch susie, sending sleepy mice you way (though will need them back after this feed finishes!)

We had lunch at friends' today but babyfunch was quite screamy a few times and we had to leave a bit early Sad. She got stick in a cycle of feed-reflux pain/vomiting - feed for comfort -reflux etc Sad

Off to doctor tomorrow to try and get some medication. Hopefully Santa will be bringing me some sleep.

amey I had a meltdown this evening too, as we had bedtime screaming as well, which happily is unusual with babyfunch (she saves it for the small hours usually).

Still, one more week til DH's Xmas hols!

re Facebook I have found Heff, goat and mrsn. I will pm others my name and email, so you can add me if willing or just ignore pm if not!Wink

Ameybee · 17/12/2012 02:23

First feed but it took us till after 11 to settle him Confused and now having repeated transfer fails - groan.

Thanks mrsn, I think sometimes I'm hard on myself & assume everyone has got it sorted and its just me being crap. Think I constantly compare to DD who (in my head) seemed much more settled at this stage & I always assume that was formula but it might not have been. All babies are different hey.
DD just woke up screaming so I'm on my own now! :(

StuntNun · 17/12/2012 02:28

Another nice long gap between feeds here but foolishly spent the time watching Mission Impossible instead of sleeping! But yay four hours is possible. J and I both have thrush so it's a bit sore here but I think I've caught it early as the pain only started on the right on Saturday then the left on Sunday so hopefully it will resolve quickly.

Hope everyone else's nights are proceeding according to plan.

Ameybee · 17/12/2012 02:28

Thanks mummyv been wondering how you were getting on.

Transfer fails are seriously soul destroying. FFS you are tired just GO TO SLEEP child!!!!!! Confused X

StuntNun · 17/12/2012 02:30

Heff I have heard great things about Baldur's Gate on iPad.

Twobuttonsaway · 17/12/2012 02:44

We did the same

Twobuttonsaway · 17/12/2012 02:47

We did the same settling stuff as heff following bath time from 6 weeks, some days better than others but now DS2 is usually asleep by 8ish following bath at 6:30 and feed at 6;50 until he's stuffed. Still get transfer fails but getting there. Also helps that I feel vaguely in control... Wink

elvislives2012 · 17/12/2012 02:54

First feed here. Seems like a real mix going on out there tonight. So exhausting! Tried bringing bedtime forward but that bought on two hours of cluster feeding/ my poor boobs. I'll still try tonight. Am missing seeing my DH in the evening as I feed her in the bedroom with the lights low Hmm

JRsandCoffee · 17/12/2012 02:59

Evening.....Susie sorry to hear about sleep deprivation, fingers crossed you get a longer stretch soon. Amey our wee ones seem to be on the same wave tonight....Puppy woke at 22.40 wanting fed and then again just at 02.35, husband disappointed but tbh that is a four hour gap so not remotely surprised, seems reasonable. Sponsored by Dyson at the mo.... Please don't beat yourself up over routine etc, we don't really have one and as for bedtime......? Puppy sleeps and naps in carrycot which is on a stand next to me at night and sits in the pram in the living room during the day. She doesn't move to "bed" until I do around 9.30 as I want to keep her with us, so lord knows what the fun routine police would make of that!

JRsandCoffee · 17/12/2012 03:18

Woo hoo! Just managed to do change without

A - Getting to the point of doing up new nappy only to discover wee in progress..... Three times yesterday.....

B - major spitting up incident requiring wardrobe change.

Woo and indeed hoo!

Think I preferred the cold weather, summer deluge brought mossies to the area due to lots of standing water and one of the blighters has woken up..... Bites on shoulder, neck and face so far!

MummyV18 · 17/12/2012 04:03

Oh amey I forgot to mention one of the key things we did was change the bed time routine. Baby J used to cry so much when it came to putting his pj's on and into the grow bag which we used to do in his room. We now get him changed down stairs before coming up to bed to read a story and we now just cover him with a blanket.
No more tears (usually)

And our routine is just a general rule of thumb it works out roughly and didn't appear until baby J was about 23 weeks so I would worry about routine (although I know I did)

I used to worry that we had no nap/feeding routine and then it just happened Grin

Hope your all getting some sleep x

Susieloo · 17/12/2012 05:01

I actually hate dp for being asleep at the moment, and when I asked him if he wanted to get up with babyloo at 6 he said 'but its my last Monday off until after Christmas' he came to bed at half twelve and I told him I can't carry on like I am-5 and a half months is a looooong time on little sleep.

This will be our shortest stretch now, he woke up at three ish but I decided not to feed him so put his projector on and he went back to sleep.

Marbles please can you ask miss marbles to let babyloo know that it is time to start a new plan, he's wearing this one outSmile

MissingMyBaubles · 17/12/2012 05:29

Woken for second feed at 4,50 - y au! But why does the nappy always leak on good nights requiring full strip down, change, full awakened and now singing Xmas ConfusedXmas Hmm

MissingMyBaubles · 17/12/2012 05:30

*yay not y au Xmas Hmm

MrsNPattz · 17/12/2012 06:37

first feed here! After 11:30 put down so just had 6.5 hours uninterrupted sleep! Sorry there are more bad nights, hope you can all have naps today.

Thanks for advice re self settling, I'm trying not to get to bogged down with routine but we do have a loose bedtime one and have done for a while.

I'm thinking this may be up time after such a good stretch! We are having a supermarket day today - going to have a wander round Asda and Tesco cause that's how we roll Grin

First feed since 230 here so not so bad. Feel knackered tho, hoping he goes back down for an hour.
susie I know exactly what you mean about not being able to cope with the tiredness. They don't get how much it makes a difference if they take baby so you can get some uninterrupted sleep.
I feel a bit like I want a tiny bit of 'me' time as well, haven't had 30 mins off since he was born, just to do something on my own, even my eye test or leg wax would be brilliant (how sad am I?) x mrsn brill stretch, well done baby boy!

funchum8am · 17/12/2012 09:05

I know what you mean about me time! I am thinking that I will do the couch to 5k running programme as DH will be delighted to take babyfunch while I do it, it is free as I already have running gear, won't take long and will get me fit and into the fresh air regularly. should really help with the tiredness too.

I was up without a wink of sleep from 2-5 then DH took babyfunch from 5-6. sooo tired. But we have a doctor's appt for 10.20am so hopefully will have something for the reflux tonight....fingers crossed it will work....

Susieloo · 17/12/2012 10:17

Good luck at the drs fun, let us know how you get on.

I feel slightly guilty about moaning about dp, unbeknown to me he had set his alarm for 6 so he could get up with babyloo, he took him downstairs but because our house is so tiny I couldn't go back to sleep because I can hear every sneeze, grizzle etc so I ended up getting up at 7, its dp's day off so we are going to take him for a walk somewhere-babyloo not dp!!

For anyone who is interested I am addicted to playing bear grylls survival run on my iPhone.

Smallgreenone · 17/12/2012 18:34

How did the drs go funch? Hope you have something to help the reflux.
We had an ok night last night- cant remember if I posted or not?! After a shaky start he woke for first feed at 1 which DH did and then 4, I went to bed at 9 so had a really good sleep. He's napped badly again tonight so will see what tonight brings. He's also been crying a lot this afternoon which is not normal for him and I don't know if its tiredness, teeth, or his tummy from the formula milk?

Ameybee · 17/12/2012 19:04

Well, had a really awful afternoon :( I reached a meltdown crisis point I think. Spent so much time trying to get babybee to nap (grand total of 30 mins not on me) I ended up feeling like I was going insane. I wouldn't care if didn't sleep in day so long as he was happy - clearly he isn't, so poor DD patiently waited entertaining herself whilst mummy paced around with screaming baby. She drew me a picture earlier - cuddles with mummy she called it - cue hysterical tears from me :(. DH trying to help but still also trying to work. Really felt that I can't cope feeling today, I think I need to speak to HV to GP at some point because it all feels like its getting too much. I feel like I've lost confidence in feeding him since the weight gain issue. I'm not sure i can cope with the guilt of stopping bf anyway and I'm not sure we'd manage to get him to take a bottle.
Got both of them again Tomo and I'm actually dreading it. I just want to give DD some time, feel awful that I'm neglecting her. Don't know what to do. Sorry for ramble on. X

Susieloo · 17/12/2012 20:03

Oh amey what a horrible day for you, definitely speak to your gp or hv and don't feel guilty about stopping bf. I read a great line on here once that said when all the children line up on their first day of school no one could tell which ones were formula or breast fed and it put it into perspective for me. I really hope you get a good night tonight and tomorrow may not be as bad as you think. Sending you an un mn hug.

Evening! Pretty non eventful day here - went to the post office, Asda and Tesco. Took my dress and jacket back and ending up exchanging them for clothes for little man!! We did get our first giggle earlier though - very proud mummy moment Smile

amey sending more hugs! I think you might feel better for talking to your hv or gp. I think you would also feel better for a little break - is that possible this week at all? Thinking of you.

Hope you got on ok at the drs funch

funchum8am · 17/12/2012 20:58

amey you don't need to feel bad for coming here to let it all out, it is what we're here for Smile Sounds like you are working really hard and you are fully entitled to seek help from the gp or HV. and rope dp in when you need to, he won't lose his job over the odd day where family has to come first. Does he work from home?

I almost cried at the gp today...she felt the need to put her arm round me so I must have looked a bit of a state! It wasn't a gp I have seen before (huge practice with about 20 GPS) but I am asking for her again! She prescribed Gaviscon so we will try it at a 10:30pm feed and see if it works. Best of all she booked us back in for 8am Sunday to see how it has gone - it feels like she really cares and I got to bypass the bloody booking system Grin Trying not to get my hopes up too much but fingers crossed for at least some improvement.

mrsn I am way more into shopping for babyfunch than for myself, have about a stone and a half to lose so shopping seems a big waste of money unless I am still this size in a few months
