amey I hope you and DH don't fall out too badly!

blonderthanred · 28/11/2012 21:34

That's great Smicha, interesting to see how many people on mn co-sleep. Love the idea but there's nowhere else for DH to sleep and I think I am too paranoid. Great that you are feeling more rested and that it's going well for you.

Amey I would be annoyed at that too!

I will be on SMP from next week too, depressing.

StuntNun · 28/11/2012 22:13

Trying to dream feed but J is resolutely asleep. Rats. I wish I'd gone to bed sooner now. Sad

funchum8am · 28/11/2012 23:06

Hi everyone, first night feed here. kit day was good and some fab training after school which was well worth going in for. DM was in the lounge with babyfunch asleep next to her when I got home. I asked how it went and she said "it's been REALLY hard." I felt so bad and started apologizing etc but DM started giggling and admitted she was joking - dd had slept the entire time I was out except when she woke to take a bottle of ebm and have a play for half an hour. Easiest day ever apparently. Shock Shock Grin

I am worried she won't sleep at night now though!

stunt I wish I had gone to bed earlier every single night!

amey my DH does that kind of thing, it is infuriating! Let me know if you find the way to convince the menfolk to stick to what baby needs!

Am already down to SMP annoyingly. Luckily DH is incredibly frugal so I am spending money he would usually save! we are lucky to have a bit left over each month having been very conservative when we bought our flat...it is above a shop so way cheaper than most. Pain in the arse with a baby to carry and no buggy access though!

Good luck everyone for the night ahead!

Ameybee · 29/11/2012 02:05

Well Managed to keep calm & not go totally ballistic - just told him he needed to think more & that I'd love to sit and cuddle DS when asleep but I know it won't help me at night. He's nearly always asleep by 9pm at latest so at 930 when he was still wide awake I just said I was going to bed and he could deal with him! He brought him up at 10 and settled him and he's done 4 hours - vast improvement on last few nights! Hoping we now don't have transfer fail and trying to muster energy to do nappy change and feed off other side!
Hope everyone's getting some rest x

missingmymarbles · 29/11/2012 02:42

First feed was at 10.45 so she had barely managed 3 hours from when I settled her and left her room. Was a bit Hmm as that is normally longest stint, however, am just feeding now, 3 1/2 hours later. Still not great but better than its been. Sorry not to name check, eyes are stinging. Hope you're all asleep.

missingmymarbles · 29/11/2012 02:44

Mn just went offline as I posted 5 mins ago, but has just put post I wrote up nowConfused Have since had a transfer failSad

missingmymarbles · 29/11/2012 03:26

Second transfer fail. Resulting in further feeding. Tried to do pat/stroke settle. She laughed. Quiet now so hopefully will sleep til morning.

funchum8am · 29/11/2012 03:33

We got a 3 hour stint but have been awake since 2. babyfunch has a cold on top of her usual nocturnalness so really struggling to settle her with shushing. patting etc. She is wide awake on me vaguely pretending to feed but mainly coughing, snuffling, possetting, staring adoringly at me and cooing. Cute, but not conducive to sleep!

MrsNPattz · 29/11/2012 03:44

First feed here, not as good as the last few nights but still 6 hours so I can't possibly complain!

Hope there have been some successful transfers and the thread is quiet til morning!! Grin

Susieloo · 29/11/2012 03:59

1st feed since dream ish feed at half eleven so not bad going, bit cross with tescos own brand ultra dry nappies though because babyloo's skin was wet when I just changed him, pampers being delivered on Friday so will stick with those in future.

Hair appt in the morning (made before I realised I was going to be broke!!) really looking forward to it and I will try and wear my hair down for the whole day-this will last ten minutes as soon as I get home and Babyloo tries to eat itGrin

funchum8am · 29/11/2012 04:07

babyfunch finally falling asleep while feeding...will soon attempt transfer

missingmymarbles · 29/11/2012 05:22

Had hoped to get to morning but only managed just less than two hours so feeding again. Surely the next wake-up call will be morning?

Goatbongosanonymous · 29/11/2012 05:33

BG slept an awful lot of the afternoon so has been awake most of the night. Feeds all over the place too. I knew I spoke too soon!
Pleeeeeeeeeeease go back to sleep now...

Smallgreenone · 29/11/2012 06:20

Better night here, up at 2.30 after his dream feed but fed and put down awake and sh patted to sleep until now. Am going to stock with that as would love to be able to pop him down awake and not do the transfer fail thing!!
Enjoy your hair cut susieloo
Not sure what we're doing we have a free day today so world is our oyster! Maybe I'll do some Christmas prep. How did your cooking go goat?

Goatbongosanonymous · 29/11/2012 06:49

Um. Yes, the cooking Blush
Exactly none.
My excuse is that DH came home early so I spent some rare time with him instead!
Maybe today, if I can drag my eyes open.
Kid has a cold and is snuffleupagus beside me.

Susieloo · 29/11/2012 07:15

We were up at six due to a huge poonami. Babyloo has woken up once again looking like he has been dragged through a bramble bush, I have cut, bitten, clipped and filed his nails and still they seem to grow back overnight, anyone think of any think else?

Have a good day everyone, see you at the night shiftSmile

blonderthanred · 29/11/2012 08:21

We went back to square one with transfers, he wouldn't settle in the cot at all. Bit of crying but none of the really pained screaming though so that is something. DH took him downstairs in the end so I could get some sleep. Think we had the same problem as you Goat as he dozed all evening so then woke up at transfer time.

My mum keeps giving him the dummy when she's here and I'm worried he's not going to be able to relax without one, also that we will miss hunger cues (esp important is he is behind on weight gain). I know she just wants to comfort him but I'm not sure it's a good idea all the time - we just use it for dropping off sometimes.

Have a lovely haircut Susie. Hope all have good days.

Goatbongosanonymous · 29/11/2012 08:22

susie I too despair on the nail front! And Kid can escape from the integral mitts on his sleep suit so they don't help. What does everyone do?

NervousAt20 · 29/11/2012 09:12

Enjoy your hair cut susie

We have LOs 6 week check today and going to do some Christmas shopping

funchum8am · 29/11/2012 09:15

My 4am transfer failed and she stayed wide awake, then at 5 threw up everywhere so DH brought her downstairs. she declined his offer of a bottle so she was back with me at 6 and fed happily while I lay and dozed. We do now have a clear pattern involving a wakeful period 2-5am between two three hour sleeps. Hmmmm.

small I have a free day too - may join you in the Christmas prep.

We don't seem to have the nail issue but could you file their nails when baby is deeply asleep? or nibble them a bit?

missingmymarbles · 29/11/2012 10:10

Up for the day at 8 after giving up at 6 and co-sleeping. I just can't get past 6 if she doesn't settle straight away. By then I'm cold, tired and watching the morning approach too quickly for me to hope for more sleep.

Nails are an issue for us too, Susie; plus DH has to do it because I am scared I cut her. I can't ever remember doing DD1's either, even now! I don't use mits as she sucks her thumb (although I still live in hope she will use it to self-soothe to sleep, and not just to relax
Hmm), but occasionally put the babygro integral ones over in the night because her hands get so icy. Like Kid, though, she can escape from them!!

We have a friend coming for a cuppa soon. I made rocky road yesterday and have a sponge in the oven. Hope everyone has a lovely day.

Ameybee · 29/11/2012 10:16

We had our best night for a while 10-3am then 4am but for cuddle then down till 8! Going to be a crap day tho I reckon, DH really narked at me for flying off handle last night (& clearly now thinks I was wrong as DS slept so well). DD off to nursery this afternoon so maybe me and him can have some time together & sort things out, I could do without being in the bad books! X

MrsNPattz · 29/11/2012 10:51

I think our little man has a sore tummy, he's not happy at all this morning. He is still having Infacol, I have given him a massage and put Vaseline round his bum and that's all I can think of! It's horrible when they are upset isn't it Sad he's currently asleep on the boob so hope a rest will help.

I have the nail problem too and they are a bit dirty so going to try and snip them when he's a bit happier but it's not easy!

amey really glad you had a better night! Hope you sort things out with your DH!

susie enjoy your hair cut!

MrsNPattz · 29/11/2012 11:18

Is everyone still demand feeding? SIL has just text hubby saying remind her to tell us about the 7, 11, 3, 7 routine (which I already know about) which has come out of the blue because we are fine as we are, quite happy in fact. And we certainly haven't asked for that kind of advice. But now it has got me thinking I'm doing it all wrong and should be aiming for a routine by now? I hate getting advice from every man and his dog (I know they are just trying to be helpful), especially when I don't ask for it, cause it makes me feel like a failure and get upset and start over thinking things! Sorry that turned into quite a rant didn't it, just got to me for some reason Confused
