A brand spanking new thread for midnight ramblings, chocolate covered pretzels and so much more Grin

Up again after taking over an hour to transfer at 1230 so at least he did a long stretch. I feel knackered tho! Feeding from both sides does seem to help him go longer tho so think I will try a nappy change mid feed.
DH was not in bed when I woke up some am assuming DD awoke & I was too comatose to notice!
Have got a toddler group this morning - hoping I cope ok with both of them!
X

Anybody used calpol nasal spray to relieve blocked noses-any good? I have saline drops but they don't seem to do anything.

Susieloo · 22/11/2012 06:20

And we are up for the day.....

Smicha · 22/11/2012 07:28

susie I've not used it but have some ready in case I need it. Would like to hear if it's any good.

amey that was a good stretch, maybe a sign of things to come!

We are wideawake after a spew through the nose incident during nappy change which led to screams that probably woke the entire street! Then while his lovely mummy tried to clean and comfort him, he peed on her. The joys of motherhood!

Nct class for us again today, the weeks see flying by! Then the dreaded jabs...perhaps this morning's screams were his way of showing me how badly he'll scream thus afternoon!

Also, I've managed to hide this thread from active conversations and when I go into customise to reinstate it, it doesn't appear in my hidden list

blonderthanred · 22/11/2012 07:39

Oh my goodness I have been asleep for FOUR HOURS. That is my longest stretch since DS was born. DH said he dozed off in his arms as soon as I was gone so my theory about the milk-madness may be right. He was so asleep that DH tried popping him into the Moses basket and he stayed asleep in there while DH dozed on the sofa.

So it seems if I can woman-up and get through the early-hours cluster feeding, he will sleep eventually. Must remind self of this tonight before delirium sets in.

Hope everyone else had some transfer successes and slept well.

MrsNPattz · 22/11/2012 08:35

Up for the day here, I have made a little man a drs appointment - there was lots of green gunk in the corner of his eye this morning Confused so I would rather get it checked before we go.

smicha good luck with the jabs - it's not nice but remember it's best in the long run!

I would be interested in hearing about the Calpol drops too as saline doesn't really do anything for us either susie

Ameybee · 22/11/2012 09:36

Hope you get the eye sorted mrsn!

I've used the calpol spray on DD when she was a baby n to be honest I didn't like them! They are basically the same as saline drops anyway but the spray action makes them jump. 4little1 - same makers as snot sucker do a olbas oil type thing that's safe for babies - I found that better for blocked nose. Also taking lo In bathroom with shower running as steam helps.
DH's man flu has stepped up a gear, I feel so sorry for him the dying duck thing driving me bonkers its a cold get over it

MummyV18 · 22/11/2012 10:14

Hi girls, I am alive and well.

Thanks for the shout out npattz

We've had a mix of bad nights and good nights so my brain & body doesn't know which way is up atm lol

Last night was a good night..... In fact an amazing night. We got 5.5hrs !!!!!!! So we'll see what happens tonight as like I said its been very mixed, not consistent at all.

Hope you & LO are all doing well Smile

Smicha · 22/11/2012 13:36

Forgot to say, breastmilk on the eye worked wonders! We have no gooeyness today! Thanks amey!

Smicha · 22/11/2012 14:23

Oh and my GTT test came back normal, so the GD has definitely gone. Off for jabs in a bit - why am I so apprehensive?! Sure I'll update on them later! Hope you're all having a good day.

MrsNPattz · 22/11/2012 14:25

Afternoon! Dr said it is a blocked tear duct or it's viral so has given him drops but only to be used if it gets worse or doesn't improve! I will continue with the breast milk for now after smicha's success Smile poor little mite had green gunk in his eye when I was showing him off at work but I didn't want to wipe it as I wanted the dr to see it. He had lots of smiles for everybody though Smile

We had a busy morning but that's us finally and he's sound asleep bless him.

Hope you are having good days xx

MrsNPattz · 22/11/2012 14:26

Oh that's great news smicha! Good luck this afternoon!

blonderthanred · 22/11/2012 17:02

Oh that's great news about the GTT Smicha! Congratulations! Hope the jabs went ok.

Smicha · 22/11/2012 17:59

Jabs were nowhere near as bad as I imagined! He didn't even cry after first one but had a short scream after the second. He then cried much more about having his hat put on for the walk home!! He's been in quite a good mood since we got home but who knows what tonight will bring!

Ameybee · 22/11/2012 18:03

Ah glad the breast milk worked smicha! My nap times were working a treat until he got woken up by doorbell (for frigging kleeneze catalogue of all things) grr!! And now his normal nap at 430 is happening now so going to be a late one and I'm knackered after a full day of hyper toddler and baby! Sent DD up for bath with DH as I need 5 minutes peace, she's been non stop chattering all day! She told me earlier when I was having a wee 'mummy - you've got hairy legs tell me something I don't know and a hairy bum - ugh!!' Little monkey!!

Susieloo · 22/11/2012 18:08

amey really glad you said that about the nasal spray because I decided against it, I couldn't see any difference between the spray and drops apart from the spray action and the price so didn't bother.

Hope the eye clears up quickly mrsn

smicha good news about your gd, how did the jabs go?

I took babyloo into work today and he was really clingy which is not like him so presume its something that starts around the 4-5 month mark.

We are on last feed before bed and my nap implementation has not gone to well, he had a much longer than usual sleep at lunchtime of an hour and twenty minutes but then has been awake since then so is very tired now which perversely means he will wake up more tonight.

Have a good night everyone

Attempting transfer...........

MrsNPattz · 22/11/2012 18:34

Oh amey that did make me laugh - your DD is a star Smile

Good luck with transfer susie

Glad the jabs went well too smicha

Susieloo · 22/11/2012 18:52

Both transfer attempts failedSad I have been feeding him since 5.40, I am loosing the will to live slowlySad

missingmymarbles · 22/11/2012 19:17

HahaGrin Amey! Your DD is hilarious! Confess to doing my legs last night as they were pretty bad Blush

Have a great time away MrsN Smile

Interesting article, Notnagging. I've heard that before about too much foremilk, but not in that context and it certainly explains a few things with Missmarbles. She still has explosive green ones from time to time and I still have an abundance if milk. Apparently they can be colicky without other symptoms when a bit older too, so I wonder if its still happening. Recently she has been unable to take proper feeds with her cold and poos have been greener than normal. Interesting thought.

Susie hope transfer goes ok. Missmarbles has been a bit grumpy recently too, may be illness, may be age?

Smicha glad the jabs were not horrendous. Good news about your GTT too.

Missmarbles is down for the night now. She is much better today -yaySmileSmileand has taken better feeds so hopefully she will sleep better tonight. I fully expect the 45 minute intruder (that sums it up do well) but then hoping for a more normal night, like, at the very least 5 hours. We'll see.....
She had very rosy little cheeks too, so am wondering if toothiepegs might put in an appearance soon. I can't believe she is 19 weeks. Where does the time go? Was you that said that up thread Smicha? Went in the lift today and saw the high chair. Thinking that will be coming down soon, as she's getting ready for trying solids Confused Truing to hold off til at least 22weeks if possible though. She watches exactly what we're doing do I do think she's nearly ready.

Right I'm off downstairs. DH on DD bedtime duty. Is it wrong to sit up here in my lively rocking chair on mn for a few minutes??Grin

Ameybee · 22/11/2012 19:35

Definitely not marbles - you just need a glass of wine to accompany your rocking chair :)

Susie - I feel your pain. I've been attempting bedtime for an hour now. 2 transfer fails - don't know about 45 min intruder - we've got 45 second intruder! Peed off that my little routine went tits up today as it seemed to work last 2 days - at least he was tired between 7-8 anyway. God knows what tonight will be like. Rain is super heavy tonight so expect DD will wake up - think I'm going to tell DH to kip in with her anyway as his snoring is really annoying, I know that's mean cos he has a cold but it is! X

MrsNPattz · 22/11/2012 20:10

Marbles do you have a lift in your house or was that an autocorrect Grin hehe

missingmymarbles · 22/11/2012 20:38

I meant lovely not lively rocking chair.....

MrsNPattz · 22/11/2012 20:40

MrsNPattz · 22/11/2012 20:45
