Hello!
Carrying on are good work from the first thread , how do we keep are selfs awake? By chatting to each other sleepy heads!

OP posts:
MrsNPattz · 17/10/2012 08:17

I got another 2 hours again, so it has been a 2 hour night for me. Could be worse, but I need a little more sleep!

Thanks for responses about changing, I'm glad I'm not a bad mother for leaving him sometimes (why does everything make me feel so guilty Sad), we use pampers too and he doesn't get distressed when it's a wet nappy.

I haven't tried any others vicky cause I like photobox so much Smile

We have the clinic to get weighed this morning. Then MIL is coming round, then hopefully get some sleep this afternoon

Smallgreenone · 17/10/2012 08:17

We change at a beginning of a feed too but only at the end if I've heard a poo come out! We're on pampers too, they must be laughing all the way to the bank, we go through packets and packets! My friend had a little boy last night, so excited, hopefully our little boys will be best buddy's, they're only 7 weeks apart. Would have been 4 weeks if my little bundle hadn't been an early bird. Hope everyone has a good day. I'm off to get some super strength pain killers for my poorly tooth Sad, and its our first baby massage class today Smile

Evilwater · 17/10/2012 08:32

Yay not a bad night. He woke at 12, 03,and 0730.
I only manged a very small amount of BM, but this morning I found my nighty slightly wet. My boobs have leaked Grin.

Right off to pump loads off I hope.
Evil

MrsNPattz · 17/10/2012 08:32

There are some new things coming from Ewan - check out the easidream website!

Susieloo · 17/10/2012 09:13

We are on pampers baby dry too (size 4!!!!) I buy a giga pack from amazon for £22 for 152 I think, good value and delivered tooSmile

TeaandHobnobs · 17/10/2012 10:36

We use cloth and I don't change BabyTea overnight unless I hear a massive poosplosion. The nappy is microfibre/bamboo and has a bamboo booster, so can happily last 12 hours. I use a barrier cream to protect his little bottom from the wet, but you can get fleece liners that make a stay dry layer as the wee just goes right through them.

We are in disposables today as I'm taking him into town in the sling and disposables mean less to carry! Seems strange now though, I've got so used to cloth!

Smallgreenone · 17/10/2012 11:46

Oh gosh I want the whole Ewan collection! Wonder what a 'shaker' is?!

MrsNPattz · 17/10/2012 14:40

small I know, I want the snuggly Smile

missingmymarbles · 17/10/2012 17:10

Poor Missmarbles. Not her usual happy little self today, still been trying to smile though. Generally only happy when feeding or sleeping but only in my arms. Until now. When she's asleep on the matHmm Don't really want her sleeping at all at this time of day, but maybe she just needs a quick power nap before bath time. Then hoping for a better night....

Goatbongosanonymous · 17/10/2012 18:06

Had second lot of jabs today. Kid then absolutely sparko until about 10 mins ago. Maybe should not have let him sleep so long but...
Also went to a new bumps and babes thingy this morning. It was jam packed. Kid actually seemed to enjoy the new stimulus despite not yet being able really to do anything. Also discovered that they run a group for prem families. Hmmm. And the NNU told us this when exactly?? The lady in charge rolled her eyes and said yes, they have been trying to gt it out there for some time, but hvs and the nnus are slow to pick up. I shall try it and see how it is!

twizzlestix · 17/10/2012 20:04

I find it do hard to post during the night feeds! I can barely keep my eyes open enough to read other posts. Will try to do better. Last night was ok, had one 3hr stretch then the rest were 2hrs ish until 5:40am then it was wake up time apparently!! Hopefully tonight will go well. Just doing post bath feed. Good luck ladies!

Susieloo · 17/10/2012 20:07

Evening allSmile

I have been feeding babyloo for an hour now which is typical as dp and I had planned a couple of hours together tonight. Not sure why he's so reluctant to go to sleep tonight.

Would love to go through till 1 but not convinced!!

Loislane78 · 17/10/2012 20:21

Good luck on an early night Susie

Best thing I've discovered about baby groups goat is not only do you get tea and biscuits, but someone makes it for you whilst you sit there feeding or just chatting - brilliant!

TeaandHobnobs · 17/10/2012 20:25

Goat that's great that there is a special prem group! I wish there had been something like that round here. At least I had one friend from the antenatal ward whose prem baby arrived just before DS, and support from the other preemie mums on MN (and Minipopsmum in RL too Wink)

DS and I were out in town all day in the sling, and I feel knackered now! Going in again tomorrow, but I think it will be a pram day. He's starting to pull at things on the table - made eating my breakfast very tricky!

Hope there are good nights ahead for all. DS had a new record of 7 hours last night (although he did wake me after 5 hours because he was squeaking in his sleep) so I am anticipating a crap night tonight!

BabylonPI · 17/10/2012 21:22

Hiya all!!

Yep another decent night last, made better by DH sending me out to the pub to do the quiz with my friends :)

I fed before I left and only panicked a bit about having nothing expressed. DH told me to stop fussing and if need be he would ring me to come home.

I rolled in at 11.30pm Grin having had a lovely time!
Fed baby B and went to sleep and he went through until 6 this morning GrinGrin

Hoping for more of the same tonight - without the pub thrown in WinkWink

Settled in his crib at the moment, but is also definitely teething so will see how we go Smile

Sleepy mice and dust to all Wink

MiniPopsMum2012 · 17/10/2012 21:32

Evening everyone...!

Yay at the rolling Tea

I did post last night, but for some reason it didn't work :(

Had a minor miracle last night, Minipop slept from about 11pm until 3:30am - that means I got 4 hours sleep Grin Grin oh, it was amazing. AND then he slept from 4:30 - 7:30. Hurrah!

Am assuming it's another fluke, rather than us turning any sort of corner :)

I've not really caught up on all the posts (Sorry Blush), but as for changing I change at last feed of night ( between 10pm and 11pm) and not again until first morning feed (around 8:30am, unless a poop). Minipop wears pampers and they keep him fairly dry. just have to make sure I dont squidge him too much when picking him up in the morning Grin

Scan tomorrow - fingers crossed we get some answers.

Hope all the little ones are sleeping soundly :)

funchum8am · 17/10/2012 21:52

Am posting pre feed as today's sleep pattern has been a bit unusual so I am still up (often in be by now!). It is DH's last day of leave and we are both sad about this. I know I will be fine on my own, more worried about DH missing her - he is more soppy than I am!

I have to take her for a hearing test at the hospital and then to be registered tomorrow, so we'll be busy all day. Not sure whether to take her on the tube in the sling, or drive and haul her about in the car seat. Tube is looking a winner because less hassle.

Can anyone advise on how old their babies were when you started on a routine eg fixed bath and bedtime? I figure now she is 2 weeks I should get organised!
Also Ewan arrived today, so trying him out tonight.

Good luck for long sleeps!

BabylonPI · 17/10/2012 21:58

Hi funch, DS is 6 months almost and we still don't have a fixed routine Confused

Susieloo · 17/10/2012 22:27

Babyloo stirring but I'm trying not to rush to pick him up because he should go back to sleep, feeding him now seems to prompt a 2 hour waking marathon so I'm going to leave him be until its definite he won't go back to sleep.

fun I have a vague bed time routine which basically means that at about 7.15 I take him upstairs into our bedroom and have a very low light on and then he has his last feed before bed, this has only really worked in the last 4-6 weeks and I did try it earlier but I just ended up sat upstairs on my own for 3-4 hours making myself miserable, I think a routine sort of gradually appears out of the chaos!!

Good luck tomorrow minipop

Hope sleepy dust and mice catch up with everyone tonightSmile

funchum8am · 17/10/2012 22:35

Thanks Babylon and Susie - sounds like I don't need to force the issue yet!

TeaandHobnobs · 17/10/2012 22:48

DS is 6 months next week and we still have no routine - except nappy change and a feed before bed, but can be anywhere between 10 and 12. I like the haphazard nature of our existence Grin but I will introduce a bedtime routine eventually, at the point where it seems necessary.

Good luck for tomorrow MPM Smile

funcham I vote sling and tube. Although today I discovered you cannot tie shoelaces whilst wearing a baby! Thankfully a nice lady took pity on me flailing about and retied them for me Blush
I recommend a rucksack-type bag if you have one - I keep buggering my shoulder carrying shoulder bags with the sling.

MrsNPattz · 17/10/2012 22:59

Hi guys, I just had 1.5 hours nap while hubby watched the little man - just what I needed as I'm started to feel quite run down, I have mouth ulcers and am starting to feel like I am getting a cold Sad I think I really need to overhaul my diet, I am not eating well at all. Do you have any suggestions for healthy meals/snacks that are easy to make quickly because of a crying baby, and can possibly be eaten one handed? Confused

Well it was definitely little mans tummy that was the bother last night - at grandmas today we had a huge poonami mid nappy change - then he wee'd and then he was sick, it was quite funny Grin

Just feeding and then hoping he will go down for longer than 2 hours!

funchum8am · 17/10/2012 23:04

mrsn DH and I have taken it in turns to make flapjack/cereal bars with oats, fruit and lots of seeds in. Yes they ate also full of butter and syrup but they ate easy to eat one handed and to carry if out and about, and they include lots of healthy stiff that I would not eat otherwise (eg the seeds). Also lentil or split pea and smoked bacon soup is yummy!

funchum8am · 17/10/2012 23:06

Oops when I said healthy stiff I rather meant healthy stuff. It sounds rude and naughty the other way...

MiniPopsMum2012 · 17/10/2012 23:49

MrsM I have cereal bars and fruit to hand, and stuff like yoghurt. Maybe try & make something when your DP is about that you can eat later. I used to have a sandwich or bowl of pasta in the fridge.

I also get graze boxes every now & then, which helps stop the scurvy. ;)

tea Grin re shoelaces. I also learnt I need to put boots on before putting baby in carrier. :)

tea have you checked bliss website for a group near you? There's one near me which I have been too. It wasn't very busy, but it was really good to go to.

funch our bedtime routine is watch big bang theory at 6pm, upstairs for change in to bed pjs & nappy change, then bedtime bottle at 7pm, then in bed half an hour after feed had finished. Which means Minipop is asleep & out the way by 8pm latest, then be & DP have dinner & our evening. We don't bath every night.

10 mins left until bedtime CANNOT WAIT! so tired. Fingers crossed for a repeat of last night. :)
