I did with ds2 and ds3 - had horrible experience with bf ds1 so went straight to bottles. I used cow and gate with no problems.

Good luck!

Mascaraohara · 13/02/2006 13:54

Yes I did. I used SMA (gold?) from day 1 and dd got on just fine with it but different brands suit different babies. Good luck!

Mercy · 13/02/2006 13:56

SMA Gold here too (although from day 10!)

Fimbo · 13/02/2006 13:58

Snap! SMA Gold too, but had to move ds on to their hungrier baby formula after a few weeks as he wanted milk constantly.

mumfor1standfinaltime · 13/02/2006 14:00

I used SMA gold from day one. It was recommended to me, didnt know which one to use.

I changed to SMA white (hungry baby) from around 4 months as ds was a very big boy and I thought it might help to satisfy him and didnt want to wean too early.

Never had any problems.

starshaker · 13/02/2006 14:01

sma gold from day 3 and she is still on it at 10 months

dewberry1 · 13/02/2006 14:10

Thanks so much..was expecting to be told I MUST BREAST FEED..ha xx

I bottle fed DD from day one and used sma gold. She is 8wks now and on sma white.
Ds was fed SMa gold from 4wks.I bf him first 4 wks but hated every second of it. Bottle feeding DD has been a joy this time and I felt more like me from day one if that makes sense.

dyzzidi · 13/02/2006 14:14

I bottle fed dd cow and gate from day one and she advanced onto Hungrie baby milk after three weeks. I didn't have any problems.

Nbg · 13/02/2006 14:16

Another SMA Golder here.

dewberry1 · 13/02/2006 14:37

Nemo
I feel the same as you..im looking forward to bottle feeding without the tiredness of feeding every few hours and not being able to pass the babe over to dh for him to feed...

when you bottle feed from day one do your boobs still go through that awful pain still when the milk comes in even tho your not using it (the milk)..does that make sense?? ha

I never leaked any milk or had sore breasts, and bottle fed from day one! Is this weird??!

Nemo1977 · 13/02/2006 14:40

dewberry yes they do.If anything mine felt worse this time possible because of not bf but I just put on a bra and over the top I put a crop top that was a size too small as then they were super supported so moved very little. It passed after about 3days. Hope it goes well for you this time

dewberry1 · 13/02/2006 14:41

Thanks so much..ill get a super tight top so they wont be going anywhere..ha

Another SMA Gold and White here.

Mfer · 13/02/2006 17:28

Aptamil for my fist. SMA GOld and then hungry baby for my v. big boy!!

expatinscotland · 13/02/2006 17:30

Cow & Gate green label from DD1 from day 3 and then moved to hungrier baby at about 3 weeks.

MaggieT · 13/02/2006 17:32

Another vote for SMA gold. Alos had a nightmare breastfeeding last time so 2nd time around I said to the midwife 10 minutes after giving birth 'can i have 4 bottle of SMA please to see me through the night'. They never questioned it as I was so firm.

julienetmum · 13/02/2006 21:47

I bottlefed dd cow and gate from day one.

Regretted it ever since mind

fastasleep · 13/02/2006 21:51

I hope no one comes along ans 'starts' this thread off iykwim... (sometimes MNers...sigh!) all the midwives I've come across prefer SMA gold, but everyone pretty much said that already!!

I hope you don't get too much pain xxx (remember not to express to ease the discomfort no matter what!)

SabineJ · 14/02/2006 09:43

I used Milupa (Aptamil) for DS1.
And I was adviced to use an hypoallergenic formula for DS2 as DS1 was allergic to cow's milk (No relation with the formula that I used with him though ...). NAN HA is from Nestle and can be obtained at the chemist. Just a little bit more expensive than normal formula (About 50p more). Will probably not be an issue for you though.

blondie82 · 14/02/2006 09:48

another sma gold here too.dd still on it at 7 months and is fine.

RedZuleika · 14/02/2006 10:13

Dewberry1: "was expecting to be told I MUST BREAST FEED.."

Also those pro-breastfeeders are probably scared off by the title and are thinking about their blood pressures... panting into paper bags as I type...

OldieMum · 14/02/2006 10:17

I moved to mixed breast-and-bottle feeding when DD was 8 weeks old and exclusive bottle-feeding from 4.5 months. I used Cow and Gate, with no problems. If you prefer organic, they do an organic version, though not all shops sell it. Waitrose stocks it.

misdee · 14/02/2006 10:18

didnt bottle feed from dfay one, but switched to SMA Gold with dd1+2. dd2 went onto SMA White after a couple of weeks.
