bottle on mumsnet logo

don't know if this has been discussed before but what do people think about the image of a mother with the bottle on the mumsnet logo? I think I heard that mumsnet decided not to let formula companies advertise on here , so is having the image of a bottle just as bad? I personally think t'd be great to see a an image of a mother using her breast as a weapon Hah! What do people think?

I don't think anything. It could as easily be ebm in that bottle.

MamaMaiasaura · 18/02/2012 19:17

"like" button needed Grin

hathorinareddress · 18/02/2012 19:18

Popcorn anyone?

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 18/02/2012 19:18

it's a froot shoot Wink

LoverNother · 18/02/2012 19:19

Doesn't bother me, all kinds of mums come here for help/support, some of them (shhh!) use formula. Some of them may be bottle feeding EBM. Methinks the logo is being over thought!

ooh yes. A fruit shoot. I like that Grin

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 18/02/2012 19:21

I often wonder what the amorphous mass is in the middle, that they're all sort of emerging from. There could be all sorts going on there.

usualsuspect · 18/02/2012 19:21

I think we have had this bunfight debate before

It doesn't bother me tbh

Sparklingbrook · 18/02/2012 19:22

I had always assumed there was tea in that bottle. Grin

Hoolet · 18/02/2012 19:22

I think if weaponry is the issue a bottle would be more effective (missile, thumping thing) than a breast.

If feeding is the issue then I don't see the problem. Not like bottles don't get discussed on here.

Vagazzled · 18/02/2012 19:24

Its whiskey, helps 'em sleep dontcha know. Wink

Honeydragon · 18/02/2012 19:25

Thankyou for making me look closely at the logo, I've now realised that it looks like the baby on the left is waving a large dick in his mothers face Hmm

Littlepurpleprincess · 18/02/2012 19:25

If you look very closely, you can see that the mother holding the bottle also has BOOBS. I think that evens out. Grin

madam1mim · 18/02/2012 19:36

I know that people on here bottle feed and I don't have a problem with it but it's interesting that that image is used over a mother breastfeeding. If it's to ever be considered normal again then we need to see it portrayed even on things like mumsnet logos! At least maybe have a breast and a bottle lol. Don't mean to sound like I'm ranting ' just curious to see what people think!

Sparklingbrook · 18/02/2012 19:38

Just change the logo to a pair of breasts then? My DC are 9 and 12 and they aren't featured in the logo. Confused

Littlepurpleprincess · 18/02/2012 19:39

Can we not apply common sense and judge mumsnet for what it does, rather than a silly logo?

Think how many women have recieved great breastfeeding and bottle feeding support and advice from these boards. Or does the logo out-weigh that? Hmm

HumphreyCobbler · 18/02/2012 19:39

If it wasn't such a good logo the bottle might annoy me, but as it is I think it is fine. An excellent logo.

Byeckerslike · 18/02/2012 19:41

I fail to see how you could incorporate a breast in that logo? Confused

I like to think the bottle has pepsi max in it, no sugar obvs!

HamblesHandbag · 18/02/2012 19:42

overthinking!

it's just a charlie's angels skit innit? I imagine it was more difficult to get a boob silhouette into the image.

Or maybe there should be someone using a sling, and someone with a pram, and someone cooking chops and someone TTC etc etc etc

Sparklingbrook · 18/02/2012 19:44

What about the cats? There should definitely be a cat in the logo. Smile

HamblesHandbag · 18/02/2012 19:47

oh, and a vegetarian. There's no vegetarians represented!

or... I'll shut up now Smile

Sparklingbrook · 18/02/2012 19:49

Perhaps we could have a logo for each topic? I would have a steaming pile of poo with flies round it for AIBU. Grin

PestoPenguin · 18/02/2012 20:31

They were asked this when they spoke at the UNICEF BabyFriendly Conference...

They said it had breastmilk in it.

It seemed a brave answer to an audience full of people directly involved in implementing the standards that require them to evidence that there is no promotion of artificial feeding where they work.
