AIBU to feel a bit sorry for this newborn baby?

Just seen some pics of a new baby on Facebook - only a couple of weeks old. I counted at least two other family members aside from the Mother giving the baby it's bottle.

Surely in your first few weeks on this earth, it's not too much to ask to be snuggled safe with your mummy breastfeeding

Oh and I wouldnt jump to conclusions about BF stopping and PND, (just because A follows B doesnt mean A caused B blah blah blah). Mine started around the same time and I had no BF problems....found plenty of other things to pin on myself and make myself miserable about...thats just seems to be the way PND works. Hope you are getting better!

YABVU It could be ebm for a start.

While the advice is that a baby is fed by the parents the majority of the time I don't see the problem of someone helping out on occasion. As a conservative estimate a 2 week old baby will have had 84 feeds. 2 feeds out of 84 is less than 5% of feeds. Add to that it may have been the same feed the mum is probably doing the majority of feeds.

For all you know the mum may have been feeling unwell, someone helping with one feed could do the world of good. I had aninfected wound and DH gave dd a bottle of ebm to let me have a nap as I was spiking a temp had a headache. It really helped me get through the night feeds that night. Maybe it makes me a bad mum and dd a child to be pitied, too late now.

YANBU.

Though you don't know the family's individual circumstances, and this isn't really about breast vs bottle anyway, I do feel sorry for tiny babies who are handed around between lots of different friends/relatives so that everyone gets a 'turn'.

yabu, I save my sorrow for the children who truly are unloved. A baby whose family can't wait to get their hands on it for a cuddle and proudly show off pictures doesn't fit in that category.
However if the mum wanted the baby with her, I'd be on her side and telling her to tell the others to back off! Hopefully she was happy with a few minutes to stretch her arms out and go for a wee.

You'd have hated me then, Countess. My DS was being fed with a bottle by my DH's aunt at a mere 5 days old!! In my defence, it was expressed breast milk - does my DS still deserve pity?!?
