AIBU to feel a bit sorry for this newborn baby?

Just seen some pics of a new baby on Facebook - only a couple of weeks old. I counted at least two other family members aside from the Mother giving the baby it's bottle.

Surely in your first few weeks on this earth, it's not too much to ask to be snuggled safe with your mummy breastfeeding

Another example of Broken Britain.

I bet my hard-earned taxes were involved in this sorry saga somehow. Probably.

I desperately wanted to bf my DD back in 1974 but I couldn't because of blocked milk ducts and little support. I felt awful but it would have been much worse if acquaintances had expressed shock/horror and fake sympathy for my beloved DD.YABU and should be ashamed of yourself for this post.

Anniegetyourgun · 13/01/2012 13:31

On the fourth page already and nobody's even suggested it might not be formula in that bottle, but expressed breast milk.

GreenEyesAndNiceHam · 13/01/2012 13:32

I don't know if YABU or not.

Depends if the photos were posted on the mums FB account, or the baby's.

kidsinamerica · 13/01/2012 13:32

I have never logged-in to MN just to be rude - so here goes.

You are a fecking twunt of the highest order.

And breathe.............

startail · 13/01/2012 13:35

UANBU to wonder if the Mum tried to BF.
UABU to expect a close family not to all want to feed a FF child.
So long as it receives lots of hugs the child won't care.
UABVU to start a BF/FF debate they never end well.
Personally, I think every mother should attempt to BF (unless there are medical reasons not to). But if after giving BF a good go it doesn't work, neither the mother herself or anyone else should be judgemental.

I don't know who or what you are, OP, but you're not a woman.

I've reported you.

AmberLeaf · 13/01/2012 13:39

Bastard relatives for taking an active interest in the newest family member.

What is the world coming to eh.

Twat.

annalovesmrbates · 13/01/2012 13:45

AmazeGosh, how awful. Are you traumatised OP? I agree with Mrs DV, you really must call Social Services straight away.

Or butt out and get a life?

HTH

and, apparently hippo's milk is pink

damn that's too topical

CalamityKate · 13/01/2012 13:50

I bet none of us can actually imagine the size of shit that baby doesn't give WHO feeds it.

Boomerwang · 13/01/2012 13:52

Bloody hell this is getting hormonal! Slagging off the OP is a bit out of order innit? Calm down tut tut...

Big families who want to help out and be a part of your baby's life is cool. I'm sure baby gets only good stuff out of it.

Psammead · 13/01/2012 14:03

Damnit Annie, I was about to say just that.

Humpf.

I'll say it anyway. It could have been expressed breastmilk, you know.

But seriously? There were people? And they were feeding, actually feeding a small baby? Bastards. First against the wall and all that.

Florieinaweddingdress · 13/01/2012 14:05

The comments on thread make me as angry as a day old baby being fed formula by it's aunt.

I could rip the universe in half with rage right now.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 13/01/2012 14:06

I would have been one of those family members feeding that baby.
Despite BF four of my five I am all for a bit of FF as long as I get to snaffle a tiny baby for half an hour while I feed sniff it.

I am a dreadful baby botherer.

tooearlymustdache · 13/01/2012 14:07

i think you need a bit of a lie down Florie Grin

here

MudAndGlitter · 13/01/2012 14:11

Hippo's milk is pink?! Wow, I didn't know that. I know that Hippo Has A Hat though.

On another note- Kangaroos don't like turnips. And they especially don't like anyone else to feed them turnips.

Florieinaweddingdress · 13/01/2012 14:11

You can tell that woman was breastfed, mustdache!

TheCountessOlenska · 13/01/2012 14:19

OP here, sorry everyone - I'm out, will come back to this when I'm home. Don't ban me mumsnet!!

OP posts:
tooearlymustdache · 13/01/2012 14:19

how the jeffing heck do you know that Mud?

(and are there any turnip-eating kangaroos in your zoo?)

hardboiledpossum · 13/01/2012 14:20

Everyone seems to agree on this thread that it isn't ok to judge a woman for choosing to FF but on another thread today most women were judging a woman for choosing to breast feed her 7 year old...

Moominsarescary · 13/01/2012 14:21

Maybe people didn't mention it could have been bm as they are more pissed off by the poor baby being fed by someone else routine

And people don't want to turn this thread into a bf v ff bun fight

Which is obviously what the op wanted

Gribble · 13/01/2012 14:32

you feel sad for a baby who is being fed?

How twattish odd.
