Very personal so will understand if folks dont respond.. Was just wondering when your periods started and how often u were feeding your lo?! I have a nine month lo and my periods haven't restarted she feeds on average 4-6 times in 24hours and eats four good sized meals a day! And she does still feed at night once or twice....;0)

Hi, I was bf and mine came back at 8 months and I was feeding about 6 times per day with my first they came back about 9 months so I guess any time really.

pipoca · 11/01/2012 20:29

ebf on demand and got periods back at 11 weeks.

paperscissorsstonelizzardspock · 11/01/2012 20:29

mine didn't start until nearly a year and they are not regular at 14 months, my dd feeds between 3 - 4 times a day, i guess the amount they eat each feed may have an impact, dd also feeds at night still so again this may be cause. anyway don't worry

harbingerofdoom · 11/01/2012 20:29

Let's just say I ended up with a 16 month gap.
Ended up pregnant and bf !

ChocolateHelps · 11/01/2012 21:26

With DD1 I didn't get periods back until 27 months and was b/f a lot! Then got pregnant with 3rd normal cycle and tandem nursed for about 18mths - 2 yrs...but got periods back with DD2 at 10mths.

Yawner247 · 11/01/2012 21:36

Smile wow it's amazing how different the dates are I'm genuinely shocked at the 11week one...I don't think I could have coped with a period that soon Blush I didn't know where I was at 11weeks!! I hope they will be starting soon...we quite fancied trying for another one but don't know when's the best time to try! Thanks for replying ladies Grin

my periods returned when ds was 8 months and dropped to 2 feeds a day. Was gutted!

crochetcircle · 11/01/2012 21:42

Mine came back at 7 weeks, however DD had been sleeping through since 6 weeks so although I was breastfeeding on demand, I had about 9 hours off each night.

Its incredibly variable within my RL friends.

kirrinIsland · 11/01/2012 21:45

Mine only came back one month after I stopped breast feeding completely - at 9 months. DD was down to one bf a night for about a month before then, so I'd hoped it might come back a bit sooner but no luck.

Babaj · 11/01/2012 21:45

The minute I stopped bleeding after birth, two days later I had a period!!! I've had them every month since then (DS is 4 & 1/2 months). Gutting :(

ChocolateHelps · 11/01/2012 21:49

i read somewhere (how weaning happens? possibly or adventures in tandem nursing) that average of getting periods back when breastfeeding is 14months. Of course you can get pregnant before first period but most mums are likely to experience anovulatory cycles (no ovulation) for a few cycles. Can highly recommend Toni Weschler 'taking charge of your fertility' to see what is really happening with your cycle. I felt DD1 had a feeding pattern that told my body that another baby at that time wasn't a great idea for her or me. DD2 however slept thru 10-12hrs from about 8 weeks and just had a different feeding pattern and different needs.

rubyslippers · 11/01/2012 21:51

8 months - around one month after stopping night feeds

feelingratheroverwhelmed · 11/01/2012 21:52

Five weeks both times Angry. DS1 was bf till he was 19mths and DS2 is ebf every 2-3 hours.

I was very very pissed off!

otchayaniye · 11/01/2012 23:02

26 months. pregnant the next month.

saves on tampax

Honeydragon · 11/01/2012 23:05

DD was ebf (still bf her). Periods returned bang on 6 weeks

DS was ebf and periods returned at 6 weeks too

feelingratheroverwhelmed it's not bloody fair is it? Grin

ShowOfHands · 11/01/2012 23:08

13 weeks- ebf

5 weeks- ebf

[booooooo]

MustControlFistOfDeath · 11/01/2012 23:14

Mine came back last month, DS was 13mo.

How very bloody rude, hadn't had one for about 2 years Angry

SOH/Honeydragon/Feeling/Pipoca: What a bummer. Sad for you.

blackcurrants · 12/01/2012 00:29

at 11 months - after DS had been really tucking into solids for a month. It's a bit of a crapshoot, really. It was lovely not having them!

Pastabee · 12/01/2012 03:13

6 weeks exactly. Exclusively breastfed, never even had expressed milk at that point. It really shocked me as I thought it would be months as I was feeding DD.

It was awful - I had nothing with me as I didn't believe it could happen. Don't be as silly as me - this thread shows it does happen!

Velvetcu · 12/01/2012 03:20

Mine came back at 7 weeks and I'm on my third even though dd is only 12 weeks Sad

rednellie · 12/01/2012 04:05

Mine came back at 3 months and was EBF.

My Mum didn't have any periods inbetween my brother and me - she was breast feeding him and first thing she knew she was pregnant with me was when she felt me kick. Just to warn you! Grin

PrancingPony · 12/01/2012 05:58

I breast fed until 15 months and periods didn't return until I gave up completely.

abigboydidit · 12/01/2012 22:01

Came back at 6.5 months. DS feeding 4 times daily but not through the night since 12 weeks.

Jules125 · 12/01/2012 22:55

12 weeks. Annoying! DD wasn't even sleeping through the night or anything.

ObviouslyOblivious · 12/01/2012 22:56

11 months. Not had another one yet though...
