I did it!

Yes sirree bob I did. My DD turns 2 this weekend and I am still feeding her

There are not many places I can pat myself on the back about this ... I remember posting last year thanking everybody for their help and support in getting me to 1 year which felt like a major achievement And wondering if I would get to 2 years

Well I did Smile

Brava, well done Grin That's a fantastic achievement. Personally I think you deserve a shopping spree.

TimeWasting · 30/09/2011 15:14

Yay! Grin

wem · 30/09/2011 15:17

Well done! How often does she feed now? I've just got to a year with dd2 and I'm having a bit of a wobble. I only stopped feeding dd1 went I got pregnant and that Will Not be happening again, so I don't know when I'll stop if I don't use 1 as a milestone and wean her now...

TanteRose · 30/09/2011 15:22

here you go ruby <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.jp/imgres?q=prize+photo&hl=ja&client=safari&sa=X&rls=en&biw=1239&bih=600&tbm=isch&prmd=imvns&tbnid=81BomorQbfV97M:&imgrefurl=www.theemotionmachine.com/im-the-prize&docid=VrFQ1w6Zwh_L4M&w=316&h=360&ei=MNCFTqiFLojomAXu1N0a&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=172&vpy=125&dur=137&hovh=240&hovw=210&tx=145&ty=114&page=1&tbnh=131&tbnw=114&start=0&ndsp=22&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Hurray!

I fed my DS until his 3rd birthday Smile

rubyslippers · 30/09/2011 15:22

Oooh shopping spree - yes please!

DD feeds morning and night as I work FT

At the weekends and if I am around more, she will feed a lot more

Sometimes I can distract her - she rarely feeds when we are out unless she is super tired

I don't know about stopping - that's mainly why I am still feeding

I don't think she will self wean so I will have to force it and I am nit ready for that ...

Thank you tante ...

allhailtheaubergine · 30/09/2011 15:26

Well done you! Jolly good stuff Grin

I intended to stop bfing ds on his 2nd birthday. He disagreed. We debated the issue for a year. I stopped feeding him on his 3rd birthday Hmm.

StealthPolarBear · 30/09/2011 15:26

Well done ruby :o

wem, a friend of mine stopped at around 18 months, so no reason why 1 has to be the cut off point!

Charleymouse · 30/09/2011 15:38

Well done Ruby, DD2 will be 2 in November and still going strong. You should feel proud of what you have achieved.

zimm · 30/09/2011 15:40

Well done! 14 months here - hoping to get to two years although might have to force issue if we TTC...

EauRouge · 30/09/2011 15:43

Ruby- they all self-wean eventually as they lose the ability to suck past a certain age. There's a good article about it here. Child-led weaning isn't for everyone but there's nowt wrong with playing it by ear if things are still going well. That's brilliant that you are still BF and working FT, just goes to show it can be done!

tickleme63 · 30/09/2011 15:47

That's fantastic! Well done you!

MamaChocoholic · 30/09/2011 15:49

congratulations ruby. my dts turn 1 this weekend too (good time to have a birthday Grin), so I am patting myself on the back also, and wondering if I will keep going for another year. maybe we shall meet same place next year when you've got to three years? thanks for posting - it is nice to hear of people who keep going past 1 year.

CharCharGabor · 30/09/2011 15:53

Yay, well done! :o

rubyslippers · 30/09/2011 16:23

Aw - am like this Smile

I am sure she will wean eventually

Probably when she goes to university Grin

seeksnewnamewithgsoh · 30/09/2011 17:53

Congratulations! That's a fantastic achievement!

I'm desperately holding out hope that I can last until 18 months (only 2 months to go) but it's getting hard now and I'm wobbling. I will keep it away from here though, it's too happy here for wobbles!

TruthSweet · 30/09/2011 19:56

Congrats ruby it's a great feeling when you reach a 'milestone'. Though there is nothing to say that 23m & 2w & 4d or 6w 5d 14h aren't milestones either Wink

DD3 will be 2 on the 11th and 'still' feeding then my next big milestone is DD2's 4th birthday in November (obviously she may well self wean before that but she may not).

Secondtimelucky · 30/09/2011 20:28

Well done you!

We didn't quite make it because DD1 self weaned when my milk dried up during my pregnancy with DD2. We got to 21 months. I was half ready to stop (it had got sore) and half sad. There's always a teeny bit of me jealous at those who make it to 2.
