Mine I think is when I get undressed to go to bed, after babe is double diapered for bed and in his sleeping bag. He lies on the bed looking at me with an enormous expectant grin and wriggles his whole body in excitement, usually giggling, waiting for me to lie down next to him and let him latch on :) (we co-sleep and I feed him to sleep).

Any fav times to share (breast or bottle)?

I love the way my dd turns towards me in her sleep and flaps her arms about, little mouth already open. I just love the optimism that a boob will be in reach whenever she decides to do it. Also love the frantic little laughing sound they all have made just before they latch on.

Cosmosis · 24/12/2010 09:12

Ah yes the boobie pillow! DH is jealous of that one ;)

Porcelain · 24/12/2010 10:15

Ds was trying to suck his thumb while feeding the other day, I kept gently moving it away as his latch was very slurpy, but he was determined to give it a fair bash.

organiccarrotcake · 24/12/2010 10:41

jacanne mine does that! In the night he waves his arms around and if my back's to him it's like he bashes me until I turn over!

today the dts (12 weeks) latched on, made eye contact with each other latched off to smile and coo and went right back to feeding. just a few weeks ago I was really struggling with the intensity of feeding twins, this last week has been much easier and this is a super cute moment to mark the change :)

Shhhdonttell · 24/12/2010 22:26

What a gorgeous thread! I

When DD latches on in the pitch dark at night and I can feel her wide-open, confused little mouth clamp on with such confidence...getting slightly dampy around the boob just thinking about it and we are not due for a few hours yet Smile

LLKH · 27/12/2010 09:59

When DD clasps her hands together as she eats and the way she falls off the breast with a little sigh when she is replete.

lolalotta · 27/12/2010 21:44

My boobies got a round of applause from my 1 year old the other day too, so sweet!!! I love it when she starts chuckling when still latched on, her eyes look so twinkly and full of mischief! I will miss BF so much when it is time to stop (not sure when that will be!)
Am loving this thread! Grin

The stroking DS used to do....DH and I would look at each other and say 'wax on.....wax off!'

Sitting DS up to wind him and him being completely milk drunk and flollopy. 'Get me a kebab and a taxi...'

The goofy noises DS used to make, like a squeaky 'mmmm mmmm eee errr eee errr', the 'pop' as he finally fell asleep and unlatched. I miss all of that even though I'm still feeding him at 16 months! He fell asleep feeding today for the first time in ages, it was lovely.

fluffyguineapigs · 27/12/2010 22:32

Lovely thread! I love the frantic laughing / crying when my ds sights an uncovered boob and really wants a feed.

The special night feeds (19mths) when he latches off and I stoke his chubby cheek, or when satisfied he smacks his lips in sleep.

The 'accidental' bf moments; when I forget that being unclothed counts as an invitation - suddenly noticing being latched on to when leaning over to pull a t shirt over his head or when carrying him to his cot and he somehow finds a boob in sleep.

The gentle stroking when feeding.

It's just got better the longer we've done it

violetbouncer · 07/01/2011 22:42

Resurrected this thread because DD's started doing some stuff that I remember DS doing too, it's lovely. She grabs my finger and twists it like she's revving a motorbike, and kicks her uppermost leg when she's getting fast flow. And when she's getting sleepy she sometimes strokes or scratches my side. And for some reason she's taken to sometimes grabbing my skin in her fists either side of the nipple while feeding Hmm. Cute cute cute.

violetbouncer · 07/01/2011 22:43

Oh and the milky latched-on grins ... bliss :)

Icoulddoitbetter · 07/01/2011 22:53

Oh I love those accidental latch-ons, if I lean over DS when we're getting dressed and he grabs the opportunity!
It's lovely because I remember really clearly the days when I was counting down the days to 6 months, whereas now (15 months in) I LOVE LOVE LOVE it...

islandbaby · 07/01/2011 23:12

I love this thread. I'm having a lot of trouble with feeding (possible thrush, possible tongue tie, possible blocked ducts...) but really want to continue.

These are the moments I want to know are coming to me, that will stop me from stopping altogether now.

DancingThroughLife · 07/01/2011 23:20

Thanks for resurrecting this!

When we're having a lie in at the weekend, we bring DD in (now 7mo) and she will now climb up me to get herself on, making a 'ha ha ha' noise and making the baby bird face as she goes.

She's also started playing the Hand In Mum's Mouth game. Which is very sweet but it makes her giggle, at which point she bites me. She has teeth now. Yowch.

Violet, she grabs a handful of boob too. And she was staring intensely at my nipple the other day, then grabbed it and tried to put it in her mouth Hmm Who knew they could stretch so much Grin

I'm loving this more all the time.

Stick with it Island Smile

Loving the excited giggles of anticipation that ds4 makes as i undo my bra strap. I remember it from the others and had been waiting for it. I used to love waking up in the morning to find ds3 had sneaked into our bed and was happily feeding away. Ds1 would hold my hair when feeding or when he was tired. He still does when we snuggle up on the sofa.
Thanks for making me remember these things.

Elpis · 08/01/2011 00:47

When she sees my nipple, pats it and says "Ullo mook".

bessofhardwick · 09/01/2011 18:53

Ahhh this is such a lovely thread. I have searched many parenting sights and find only negetive comments about how hard breastfeeding is- which is such a shame! It is wonderful to finally find something so positive. Thanks everyone!

belindarose · 09/01/2011 19:05

DD looks up at me and signs 'milk' during a feed, as if I somehow didn't know that's what she was getting. She's just started pulling the bra cup back up when she's finished, saying 'night night'. So cute. We had such a difficult start with BF and it's amazing to still be feeding at 16 mo.

lexxity · 09/01/2011 22:33

Aww I love this thread.

DS2 is 5 weeks old and he gets all milked out and floppy after a feed. He looks so content but totally woozy too.

One of my nicest memories so far is when we were still in hospital and having some issues getting cracking with BF. I stripped him down to his nappy and popped him inside my nightie. He slept for a couple of hours and then we got a good long feed on the side he'd been rejecting. [grins] My other favourite is our time spent on recovery. Just me DH and baby cuddling up and enjoying the fact DS2 was finally here.

I also love that my DS1, now 5, likes to help his brother feed and is desperately trying to teach DS2 his old pet name for boobies. "Buvvas". Grin

DS2 already does the excited "ooo" face when he sees a booby.

I was also very chuffed when he put on 1lb and 1oz in 10 days. I DID THAT! Makes it all worth while.
