Mine I think is when I get undressed to go to bed, after babe is double diapered for bed and in his sleeping bag. He lies on the bed looking at me with an enormous expectant grin and wriggles his whole body in excitement, usually giggling, waiting for me to lie down next to him and let him latch on :) (we co-sleep and I feed him to sleep).

Any fav times to share (breast or bottle)?

rots yes, he stayed back to back and got stuck, little sod Xmas Wink

With all 3 DS I have fond fond memories of being on the postnatal wards right after they were born.

When all the visitors have left and I'm snuggled up in bed with my gorgeous new baby letting them feed and doze.

It makes me all dreamy eyed just thinking about it, such precious, precious times.

When my dd was feeding yesterday morning I was talking to her about christmas and how Santa is coming on Saturday. she came off and said "Santa".... twice!! Brilliant! Xmas Grin

DesperateHousewifeIsXmasCrazy · 22/12/2010 21:13

I love it when ds falls asleep and comes off by accident and searches for it with his eyes still shut, he does such a cute side-of-the-mouth root Grin

DesperateHousewifeIsXmasCrazy · 22/12/2010 21:16

Aw also I love his little podgy hand resting on my boob as he feeds.

organiccarrotcake · 22/12/2010 22:17

Reminds me of when DS1 was about a week old. It was the middle of the night and he came off and turned his little head and settled on my boob as a pillow, turned towards me. I swear he smiled (and it wasn't wind LOL) and I can swear to it as I grabbed my phone and snapped him doing it! Not one I can really share though Grin.

cos Little beggar. LC did that but despite that AND a hand up by his head he came out ok. I was V lucky. everyone here calls me "organic". I miss you lot :(

agree as soon as i put DS into bed (we cosleep) he gets all excited and turns and licks the sheets! he kicks his legs up and we both go to bed happy..... also we latches off mid feed - I am convinced he is checking it is still me there, then latches on again...

also, when I give him a kiss while he is feeding, he doesnt come off my boob but grins like a cheshire cat then carries on feeding.... lovely memories that I will cherish...

Cosmosis · 23/12/2010 08:53

rots perhaps after Christmas we should meet up and compare babies irl? :)

I have been thinking of this thread overnight and it is making me all warm and glowy. I have to say I think feeding is one of my faviourite things about having a baby.

organiccarrotcake · 23/12/2010 10:28

cos Yes of course! I would love to! I've emailed you this morning about the peer support course. It would be brilliant if you could do it.

Incidentally did you ever consider donating to our local milk bank? I did a drop there last week and thought of you as I was on the way there as I passed roughly where you live. If you are interested you need to start before he's 6 months old otherwise they won't accept you, but then you can donate until he's a year old.

I agree with you so much about Bfeeding. I missed it so much when LC self-weaned and was so looking forward to it this time which made it so much harder when I had a really tough time, totally unexpectedly, with Comma. But it was worth pushing through it all.

Saying that though, I'd love to see some bottle feeding mums (or dads) putting something on here. It's pure nuture is feeding a baby and such a special time. I read here somewhere about someone looking into their baby's eyes while the baby was drinking its bottle which was so sweet and a but tricky for the BFers! I guess "our" version is when they pop off and grin at us.

I'd not considered it tbh rots as I don't get a huuuge amount when expressing so not sure I'd have enough really. I'd love to do that course definitely!

organiccarrotcake · 23/12/2010 12:15

cos I tend to get about 3oz now if I do it in a morning, but as preemies need around 1oz a day I figure that's good enough :) If you're interested email me and I'll send you the info. If it's just one thing too many, no worries :)

I will send you the course info! Would be fab to do it with you :)

Hi. i think FFers are not posting here as its BF dominated and the content will prob be quite hard for some FF mums to take.

NOT trying to make a debtae, just saying why I think FF mums are a bit quiate here even though OP has tried to make us welcome :)

FWIW my favourite feeding moment was when Mr T gave alf his first bottle. he was clarly enjoying it so much and was so proud.

toddlerwrangler · 23/12/2010 12:29

And before anyone shouts as me, i am posting from my phone, hence crap spelling and typing!!!

Cosmosis · 23/12/2010 12:30

toddler I loved seeing DH give him his first bottle too, the expression on his face was fantastic :)

rots I didn't knw that's how little they needed, maybe I'll give it a go then!

aghhhh, phone gone maadddddd!

Gabity · 23/12/2010 12:38

My favourite was in the bath with DD when she was 16 weeks. I had expressed for her up until then as she had never latched on properly. She latched on perfectly then and took a whole feed. Thought I was going to burst with happiness!

mylifewithmangers · 23/12/2010 13:43

Just remembered another one. DS used to be in a sidecar crib attached to our bed. I used to feed him on that side, and when he was done he would pull off in a dramatic manner and in the same movement throw his head back and roll neatly into his cot and commence snoring. The first time I thought it was a fluke, but he continued to do it quite deliberatley from then on Xmas Grin

blackcurrants · 23/12/2010 13:51

DS has started to grin at me while feeding, which is just bliss! I also love when DH brings him in (after his bath) for me to feed him to sleep and he wriggles happily in his sleeping bag like a very joyful (and extremely hungry) caterpillar.

DH bottlefeeds him ebm when I'm not around, (and he takes a bottle at nursery) and they always end up doing it at the most crazy moments. DH was on the phone to the airlines this week (we're trying to get back to the UK for xmas.. meant to land on 18th.. so looking unlikely :( ) and DS was in his jumperoo bouncing away. DH gave him a bottle while DS was jumping, apparently by bending knees in synch, while still on hold! He calls it "extreme feeding" and is always very funny about it, but his favourite bottle feeding moment was around 5-6 weeks when he gave him a bottle of EBM (as we were getting him into the zone for nursery). DH says that after DS had stared at him in amazement while schnozzling down the bottle, he then pulled off the nipple, gave a huge burp, and gazed at DH in newfound respect, along the lines of "you can do that? AWESOME!"
My boys are such dafties. Xmas Grin

putthekettleon · 23/12/2010 21:45

awww, love this thread! I took at photo on my phone of DD2 asleep on my boob at about 3am the other night because it just felt like such a special lovely moment and I was worried one day I would forget what it was like.

My favourite is the piglet snuffles. And the smell of her soft milky head

ZuzuandZara · 23/12/2010 22:10

I have DTs to feed, I am doubly lucky.

After M finishes a night feed she relocates her head to use my boob as a pillow and starts snoring.

When A feeds, she puts her fingers in my mouth and I nibble them, she thinks it's hysterical and giggles while feeding but won't unlatch so she ends up with huge dimples.

Really lovely thread.

NineLadiesDancingThroughLife · 23/12/2010 22:38

The booby pillow thing was my first I Heart You moment with 24 hour old DD. I still melt when I think of it.

She's just started doing the random latching on, so I have lovebites all over my boobs, arms, stomach and my leg (she got a bit lost Confused).

And she does this lovely mmmmmm noise when she gets sleepy. I could go on and on... Fab thread Xmas Grin

organiccarrotcake · 23/12/2010 22:45

"just saying why I think FF mums are a bit quiate here even though OP has tried to make us welcome"

Well I'm a BFer, hence my starting it with a BFing moment but the purpose of the thread was to share lovely moments of nurturing and love :)

Kind of a whatever we do, we're just loving them thing :) And these are moments which will pass so quickly :(

When I asked my 2+ year old what mummy milk tasted like and he said chocolate friends Grin

toddlerwrangler · 24/12/2010 07:57

organic - I 100 percent agree that feeding is about nurturing and love. Bottle, breast or both, its the one time we get to sit down with our babies, say stuff it to the washing/hoovering/ironing/tidying and spend true quiate/snuggle time together.

I'll be honest - whilst I admit to hating BF, alf is still called Mr Snuffles at 21 months due to the cute little snuffle thing he used to do with his nose when i fed him. That WAS cute.
