Breastfeeding with a cold - what can I take?

Title says it all really. Am breastfeeding, DD is 8 months. Have nasty cold for almost a week now. Have been taking paracetamol and inhaling some menthol stuff. Problem is my ears feel like they are blocked with hot cotton wool. Can I do anything else??

Shes still almost fully breastfed as am doing BLW and its going slow..

IIRC boots the chemist (MN disclaimer: other pharmacies are available ) do a cold and flu relief that's just paracetamol and vit c in a hot lemon drink. NOt nearly as good as the proper stuff but does help more than paracetamol by itself.

also maybe a HWB for your ears? I've found this helps.

I'd see the GP as you might have an ear infection. Presumably you could have ear drops if so.

Thanks for this, the links are really good northender The chemists have given me some decongestant and its doing the trick. My ears feel much better. But given what it says in the guide on the effect of these on prolactin I will be stingy with the dosage

Oh no your not supposed to take decongestant's when BF. Supprised the chemists doesn't know better. They dry up bodily fluids inculding BM.
