Where's the 'oddest' place you've breastfed?

I'm not trying to imply that bf-ing anywhere is in itself wrong or odd in the bad sense, because it definitely isn't. I just wondered if anyone would share, in a light-hearted way, unusual places they've fed their DCs.

For me, probably would have to be Specsavers (during an eye-test) or DD2 whilst sat on a bouncy castle (was supervising DD1 at the time).

Oh yes and on a canal boat in Oxford.

Changing room in Topshop

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 20/07/2010 21:36

On a garden furniture display in a Portugese hypermarket - the flight had sent his feeding times haywire!

MissMarjoribanks · 20/07/2010 22:48

Orm - I've fed at Buckfast Abbey too - but in the gardens. And subsequently that day somewhere on Dartmoor.

On the beach.
On a boat on Windemere. Old lady said, 'he's enjoying that'!
During my sister's wedding reception, where I actually had to unzip my bridesmaid's dress at the side and pull my norks out over the top, whilst not wearing a bra. There is a photo of me doing it as well - I managed somehow to be so discreet, the photographer thought it was a nice photo of me cuddling my baby and chatting to my DH....

cupofcoffee · 21/07/2010 10:17

At the supermarket checkout.

Lexilicious · 21/07/2010 10:28

at 5 weeks old, in the pews of a church and then at the wedding reception while dancing swaying out of time on the dancefloor to Jive Bunny.

Walking around B&Q (in a babasling) (quite a few times)

At 4 months, half undressed out of my own wedding dress in my honeymoon suite (expressing from the other side simultaneously so the babysitter could feed him the rest of the evening while I got pissed enjoyed mysefl!)

neverquitesure - we were moving and borrowed by dad's van - its has 3 front seats and DS was in the middle one (no airbags in the van). DS was strapped in but pitching a fit. I just popped a boob out and leant over him. It was pretty uncomfortable as I had to twist around but after 5 mins DS was much happier.

AngelDog · 21/07/2010 20:14

My life since having DS has clearly not been as exciting as the average. [envious]

Missmarjoriebanks, it's lovely when people make comments like that, isn't it? DH's grandma keeps telling my 6 m.o. DS how lucky he is to have it on tap like that.

YouCantTeuchThis · 21/07/2010 20:20

in the star show at Glasgow Science Centre in those lovely reclining seats...was really rather nice!

blue22 · 21/07/2010 21:00

Under a gorse bush on a cliff in cornwall (never knew breast feeding could be so painful!!)

deepdarkwood · 21/07/2010 21:04

I bf up a tree once - in Devon, overlooking a river. I wasn't high up, I should point out - but the tree was on a hill so it felt like I was up in the tree tops.
Also in the Oxo Tower brasserie with glass on all sides and a fabulous view of London

sparkle12mar08 · 22/07/2010 06:01

At a proper beardy-weirdy real festival at about 4 months old. Surrounded by lovely grandads and the occasional really odd younger bloke.

On a moving steam train, again surrounded by beardy older men.

Shameless me!

sparkle12mar08 · 22/07/2010 06:01

Sod, that should be 'real ale festival'.

SonicMiddleAge · 22/07/2010 07:41

Lycian way (turkey)
British consulates
Base of the tower of pisa
The Pinnacles
Beach on the Great barrier reef
Zoo, dozens and dozens of times ? I used to feel I was bonding with one of the monkeys who had a baby about the same time as dd2

Worst expressing was in a seat on a longhaul flight, had assumed the toilets would have a power point, but they didn?t so needed the in seat powerpoint. I was terrified someone would think I was loading up a self exploding bomb...

cheeselover · 22/07/2010 09:15

Planes, buses, trains etc. Worst was whilst waiting for my nappy cream to be tested at the security scanners at Heathrow. Concert halls in rehearsal breaks (but not whilst playing - respect to toccatanfudge!) Zoo, hill walking...
Expressing is much worse, always end up in nasty toilets etc. lol at the self exploding bomb Sonic!

KEAWYED · 22/07/2010 09:18

outside the fortune tellers at Boatany Bay.

SonicMiddleAge · 22/07/2010 09:36

cheese, expressing does always seem to end up being more grotty - I guess pumps are less portable than babies!

OxyMoron · 22/07/2010 09:58

Cable car on great orme

lizzytee · 22/07/2010 10:47

Sitting on a borrowed chair in the middle of the local stonamason's yard.

On a rush hour train from Charing Cross (only time 5 people have simultaneaously offered me a seat)

Lady chapel of a huge Catholic church in Dublin

Lambeth town hall

1st class cabin of BA flight to San Francisco, much to queeny steward's annoyance. Also on return flight, with Giorgio Armani two seats back, although I doubt he noticed as he was flanked by minions and fast asleep.

puttingonabraveface · 23/07/2010 08:19

Outside Ann Summer's a couple of days ago.

Flanked by cow, sheep and piglets at a county show. Felt like a nativity scene gone wrong!

tadjennyp · 24/07/2010 00:42

Riverside cricket ground during an England v Sri Lanka match. Couldn't be bothered to move from the stand! Transatlantic flights.

Butterpie · 24/07/2010 00:49

In a moving car (baby strapped in seat, me leaning over) stuck behind some Gypsy/Traveller/Romany (I have no idea which is the correct term!) horse drawn painted caravans near Appleby.

Walking around the university library, having an inner debate whether it constituted eating and drinking, which was forbidden.

Dressed up as a queen cleaner in black and white as a performance art piece.

I think I may top it all next month though as I plan to feed my baby in my wedding dress on the metro train :D
