Where's the 'oddest' place you've breastfed?

I'm not trying to imply that bf-ing anywhere is in itself wrong or odd in the bad sense, because it definitely isn't. I just wondered if anyone would share, in a light-hearted way, unusual places they've fed their DCs.

For me, probably would have to be Specsavers (during an eye-test) or DD2 whilst sat on a bouncy castle (was supervising DD1 at the time).

In a bedoiun tent in the negev desert in israel. the bedouin host was so excited to see me breastfeed (I asked to check it was ok first), he said lovely to see me feeding my baby the same was the bedoiun people do, he thought all white westerners etc fed their babies from a bottle.

Have fed on the London underground, no one batted an eyelid.

at the organ at the front of the church while playing it

neverquitesure · 16/07/2010 16:22

front seat of transit van.

I had no idea this was possible! DH suggested I climb into the back of the car and feed DD en route last week to save us sitting on the side of the road for ages and was the lucky recipient of one of my 'don't you know anything about looking after babies' looks.

Teach us your black magic oh wise one...

Buckfast Abbey during High Mass.

neverquitesure · 16/07/2010 16:23

PS. I firmly believe that if you painted yourself purple and set fire to your hair you'd still not get much interest on the underground. It might involve Eye Contact and Eye Contact is BAD.

OrmRenewed · 16/07/2010 16:23

Also whilst pushing a buggy.

On a guided tour around historic house Newby Hall! Very nice woman who told me to sit on a chippendale chair - she said she loved seeing women bfeed. Apparently old boss had put a sign up saying no bfeeding, and she told him it was illegal! ha! So listened all about 16th C history while bfeeding my teeny gorgeous one...

tinylion · 16/07/2010 18:56

Just thinking - can some of you bfeed and walk at the same time? cos I bloody can't!! How do you do it?? Baby and boob too heavy for me..perhaps I'm being dim and missing something...

Mine was a week, so I was able to tuck her under my arm like a rugby ball and then have a jumper on over. And buy sweet potatoes.

To this day I have no idea why I didn't just go to the cafe and have a cuppa.

sweetnitanitro · 16/07/2010 19:12

Seriously impressed toccatanfudge my dad is a church organist and is bound to be impressed too!

I've fed DD in Luffield grandstand, Silverstone. If anyone complained, I didn't hear them

Also at the top of Glasto tor (we all needed a drink after that climb!). Lovely panoramic views for me, she had other priorities.

I am determined to master feeding in the sling with the next DC so who knows where I may end up feeding.

jemjabella · 16/07/2010 19:25

In 2 x National Trust properties whilst walking around / in the window at Starbucks (only free seat) - not that odd compared to some!

rubyslippers · 16/07/2010 19:27

on the train going up Snowdon

toccatanfudge · 16/07/2010 19:30

sweet - thankfully he preferred the left side so it was easy enough to keep the tune and alto line going with my RH and the bass line with my feet

timeforanamechange · 16/07/2010 19:32

Top of a lighthouse on the south coast of Ireland.

ShadeofViolet · 16/07/2010 19:33

On a stream train waiting for Santa - it was bloody freezing!

upahill · 16/07/2010 19:35

Up on Pen Y Gent

whinewine · 16/07/2010 19:46

in the stands at the calgary stampede - to the general tuts of all around me!

BertieBotts · 16/07/2010 19:50

I fed my 21 month old on a bus the other day, in a sling (pulled round to my front and loosened for him to reach) - I had very sore shoulders the next day!

toomanylayers · 16/07/2010 20:27

During my wedding ceremony...almost! DS2 was 12 wks and just v tired so someone took him out but I was so stressed I thought I'd be saying my vows with my boob out just to calm him down! (I was never any good at expressing) I had my dress altered for easy access IYSWIM. During the reception when I was feeding I got an odd look from an old uncle so I bent down to get the shawl I had for some privacy and looked up again to see said uncle pointing a camera at us.

ClimberChick · 17/07/2010 04:29

though the trans Atlantic flight was fun (all kinds of not), as my name suggests, she's been fed on various rocks around the peak district.

Climbers are an odd bunch though and only care about their climbs, so it was only the passing walkers that gave me funny looks.

Also in my old office with a load of other physics PhD students (the only place I was a bit about public feeding)

MoonFaceMama · 17/07/2010 10:16

Wow! You all seem to have such glam/adventurous lives!

I've bfed on a ferry, in the woods, in a park, various cafe's, service stations and restaurants etc...the agm of our studio group. where ever i've needed to!

MoonFaceMama · 17/07/2010 10:19

sorry, non of those are really odd. OT.

scrappydappydoo · 17/07/2010 10:23

The 'Its a small world' ride at Disney World - in fact most of the slow moving/theatre type rides at Disney. DD2 was 8 weeks and it was like stand in line for 30 mins - get inside, get boob out.
Most plane trips til she stopped bfing at 18 mths and weekly in church.

Misspaella · 17/07/2010 10:34

I wouldn't say these places were "odd" but not where I would have planned to feed iyswim:
Ikea chair display section
During a spa pedicure
At older DC's school assembly
