Hit me with your most favourite books please. My little one is going through a bit of a weird sleep phase so fancy a good read!

I've just read The Sealwoman's Gift by Sally Magnuson and totally loved it

Gillian Flynn Sharp Objects is disturbingly good, and Dark Places.
Adam Kay This is going to hurt, brilliantly written book about working for the NHS its truly eye opening.
For something a bit lighter Jill Mansell Take a chance on me.

If you haven't seen the film or read it already, Gone Girl is one of my faves. Much better than the film (obviously) but probably not worth the read if you already know what happens.

Margerite Yourcenar's Memoirs of Hadrian. Such beautiful writing.

Can anyone recommend me a good chick lit style novel please ideally will make me cry. I love loads of the recommendations on here but fancying a girly cry

@Owlettele The See-through Leopard by Sibel Hodge. It's more of a young adult book but it's really good and very very emotional.

Everything by Ursula le Guin. She's magical, literally.

I'm currently reading some M. R. James to get in the Halloween spirit. Love a good ghost story. Also: Zadie Smith, Maggie Nelson, Sally Rooney, Kazuo Ishiguro and Ursula K Le Guin.

For all those who liked Gone Girl, Alices Feeney’s Sometimes I Lie is another Psychological thriller, with great twists.

If anyone likes to read a true stories I highly recommend this book.

The Dutch House was brilliant.

So Lucky by Dawn O'Porter. Brilliant read. Best book I've read in a long time that has actually kept me wanting to read more.

Seven sisters, Lucinda Riley. A billionaire dies and in his will he left letters to his adopted daughters each one containing clues to their birth stories. Free on kindle just now. It’s a series of books, I’ve only read 2. Both brilliant.

Body in the marsh, Nick Louth. Crime / mystery/ thriller . Free on kindle.

Our house, Louise candlish. A woman comes home from a weekend away to find her house with strangers moved into it. Her husband and children missing. Good fast paced read but bit stressy obviously!

Silent companions , Laura Purcell . Gothic horror. Quite creepy but intriguing story. I only read it during the daylight hours though.

Sundowners , Lesley lokko. High end chick-lit. Story of 4 friends who meet in school and their lives over the next few decades. Really juicy story lots of gossip , drama , sex , drugs , scandal , money! Addresses plenty of serious issues too though. I was totally absorbed.
