In response to requests for more non-fiction, we've decided to resurrect Non-fiction book of the month and will be bringing you a host of great non-fiction book giveaways to read, discuss and when possible the opportunity to engage with the author. To kick off we're delighted to offer you the chance to grab a copy of Kim Gordon's brilliant memoir Girl in a Band

Find out more about the book and apply for a free copy, then come back and discuss the book and put your questions to Kim on this thread. We'll be sending up to 15 questions over to her on 22nd Feb and we'll post up her answers to this thread in early March.

That's good to know, I just want to start reading it now!

Cocolepew · 23/02/2016 18:00

I havent got mine either but havent been asked for my address, do you already have it? Confused

RachelMumsnet · 25/02/2016 14:05

We've been assured that the books were sent out on Monday, so they should be with you by the end of the week. Please do let us know when they arrive on the thread and then we'll confirm the date to get your Qs in for Kim. We've been told it's fine to push the Q&A dates back because of the delay in getting the books out. Thanks for your patience!

Cocolepew · 29/02/2016 20:35

Finished mine earlier, really enjoyed it.

Hennifer · 29/02/2016 20:45

It's very good isn't it? Much, much better than I thought it would be, compared to some biographical type books - Kim comes across as very honest, engaging and good fun.

I also love that some of the lyrics are in the book - I can't find some on the internet though, they don't seem very accurate, so if it's Ok to ask, is there an 'official' lyrics book I can buy?

I have dipped in so far but will keep reading. Thank you very much for this.

pollyblack · 03/03/2016 11:53

I agree Hennifer, I find some books like this (Pearl Lowe, Tracy Thorne, et all) books REALLY DULL but this is good, only read the first few chapters so far but enjoying it, I like her.

MrFMercury · 03/03/2016 11:57

I am loving it! From the first page it becomes apparently that she is going to be very forthright about her opinions - not in an attempt to shock but just because she is an honest person.
I'm so fed up of reading autobiographies where the person has chosen to share their life story but seem to lose their nerve and are so coy you end up feeling you know less about them than when you started.

ClarenceTheLion · 03/03/2016 12:32

I'm reading too, and really enjoying it. Feel free to let us know about the revised Q&A date!
