Do you have children in the private system? (No judgement)

Yes I do. So, I see it from a different perspective. There are many rich families yes but also many who literally scrimp to pay the fees. This notion that private schools are full of millionaires is so untrue. Blacks are already underrepresented in the private system and this would make it even worse.

Many of the people I know who send their children private, go without to do so.

It is a fair system, no, but I don't agree with VAT being applied.

Exactly that! I too don’t agree with VAT being applied.

Rodwell, who is white, has come under fire for a number of comments he has made in the past, including once joking he had “the worst tan possible for a black man”.

Anti-Black racism has no consequence. He'll be just fine, no Diane Abbott style treatment or loads of posts on MN boards going on and on and on ad infinitum about him.

He's been investigated for sexual harassment before, hasn't he?

Rock and a hard place for some.

Tories have accepted another £5million from their donor who hates black women and has donated the most to them.

(I don't live in a typical constituency so I have always tactically voted.)

LadyKenya · 07/06/2024 14:19

Shocker, leader of the racist Tory party, accepts money from racist donor. I hope that no black woman gives them their vote after all of this. Disgraceful. I was planning to vote Labour, but the disgusting treatment, by them, of Diane Abbott, has left a bad taste in my mouth. I will vote tactically to help oust the Tories.

That’s how I feel too. And it’s not just about how they dealt with the letter she wrote but how they have not dealt with the racism she has suffered within her party.

LadyKenya · 07/06/2024 15:41

Indeed@Maggiethecat . The Labour leadership have shown me how they will protect black women in their party from racial attacks, i.e., they won't. Anti-black racism, is of no concern to them, it would seem.

seedsandseeds · 07/06/2024 22:31

Excited as the black in me but anxious for the woman in me

FastQuoter · 09/06/2024 23:31

I'm surprised hardly anyone is considering Reform. The past decade has shown that the Conservatives are not really so and thus need to be annihilated. We need a government that is truly going to cater first to British citizens and not make us worse off in the long run.

Maggiethecat · 10/06/2024 00:09

Are you black? Do you think that the reform party will do anything for people who are? What have you heard that makes you think that your life will improve under a reform leadership? Please do share.🤔

What's your ethnicity?

FastQuoter · 10/06/2024 21:32

I most certainly am. My household is and my parents are. Funny that is being questioned because of my comment.

Have you actually read the parties’ manifestos? The pledges from Labour’s manifesto are absolutely vague and not tangible for the individual. I honestly can’t see how I will be better off in the near future with them being in government.

On the flip side, I can see how my family and I plus our children will benefit:

  • No stamp duty on properties less thank £750k
  • No interest added to student loans
  • Pay no tax on income less than £20k (currently ~£12k)
  • Reintroduce home economics in schools (finally!)

This country is in need of a reform and fittingly the Reform party may just be the one to implement that.

Wasn’t it Keir Starmer who couldn’t even explain what a woman is? 😒

British African ✅

Shushquite · 10/06/2024 21:47

I'm political homeless, I will go out to vote with my dc. Just to show them, the privilege of being able to vote.

I will probably decide on the day, who to vote for.

Happy to stand corrected but, Labour and the Conservatives have not released theirs yet and the Liberal Democrats have only just released theirs. I am struggling to see how you have compared them all or can question the credibility of anyone who has not read them.

You are correct.

You can't read something that doesn't exist.

You may get some of it revealed earlier on the day but most media organisations and journalists are embargoed from releasing what is in it until when the particularly party it belongs to says they can.

Starterlocs · 11/06/2024 15:32

@FastQuoter you'd vote for a party that wants to leave the European convention of human rights?

That wants to remove employment laws that make hiring "risky"?

Interesting.

As in the EU? I don’t quite understand..

And which law exactly please?

So tell me which party are you leaning towards and why?

Surely you realise that people on this board might consider your support of Reform to be strange.

You’ve readily confirmed your nationality but seem reluctant to confirm ethnicity. Why?
