Not even unbelievable. Very believable.

Racist Britons at their finest

Well it’s made it to both. DM article linked Here has similar comments to the first one. (Warning the headline contains a spoiler!)

Comments are the predictable “pc gawn mad, box ticking, I’m cancelling my tv license” etc etc nonsense. What sad little lives these weirdos lead

SommerTen · 17/05/2022 16:27

I'm glad that Ncuti Gatwa is the new dr Who.
He deserves the role. He is a decent actor.

I saw this quote: ''Why do people get so wound up about the appearance of a shape shifting fictional alien anyway??? ''
If Dr Who was actually real then Dr Who could appear as any human being at all.

Btw in the 80s Peter Davison played Dr Who - his father Claude was Afro-Guyanese but as Peter Davison was of White rather than Mixed Race appearance, none of the racists knew or made a fuss.

SommerTen · 17/05/2022 21:21

Also, this made me laugh!!

I think you could have worded your post title better tbh. Any way I wish the new doctor actor all the best. Not too happy about it myself (nothing to do with him being black)as I would have preferred Claes Band and think he would have been perfect for the role….

A Transwoman Dr Who sidekick?! Is it true? OMG The mass spontaneous-combustion all over the land will be lethal🤣. They'll be all confused as to whether to be racist or transphobic. Then again come to think of it they'll be both.

No. I worded it perfectly.

Nope you really didn’t ! You seem to have a huge problem with white people. Must be tiring to be so bitter. Anyway have a lovely day!

You seem to have poor reading comprehension as I understood the thread from the beginning.

I have a problem with racist white people yeah. I'm not bitter, just tired of dealing with racist comments and white people, like yourself, trying to tell me how to behave.

The article is positive so straight away I knew OP had to be talking about the comments. I didn't look at many of them but I saw a lot of complaints of the programme being "woke" and explicitly complaining that Dr Who shouldn't be black. There is obvious racism in those comments.

I don't watch Dr Who, I could never get into it tbh, but I don't think it matters what colour or gender the character is - Dr Who could be anyone. Just as 007 could be anyone and I would really like to see a black James Bond in the next film. Of course, Ron Weasley in the HP books is depicted as white and ginger so you couldn't have a black actor play the part, just as you couldn't have a white actor play the part of T'Challa/Black Panther.

This where you are wrong.

J K Rowling was happy that for one of the theatre productions of her Harry Potter books not all the actors playing her characters were white, even though the description of them in her books is.

BTW you are aware there a black people with red and blond hair? It is rare but they do exist.

Why don't you learn what racism is?

Why do you think you are entitled to police black women?

DeeCeeCherry · 29/05/2022 11:36

Why don't you learn what racism is?
Why do you think you are entitled to police black women?

Exactly

People will spend time peeping at & attempting to monitor and Whitesplain Black women. Then theyll go home to their racist partner/family/colleagues and never challenge racism🤐

MLK had a lot to say about that type of person

Considering the whole reason BMN came to be was obnoxious racism and hounding of a Black Woman by Mumsnetters, you'd think theyd 'get' this post and thread.

But nope, stay racist and entitled and can't stand not being centre of attention. Theyre only here to disrupt posts and actually should really be ignored anyway

I’m white, the title isn’t offensive to me as I don’t relate it to myself, it’s not about me personally. Those comments re the new Dr Who are racist, very thinly veiled but racist all the same and I don’t get why anyone would come and try and argue that they aren’t!

Navigatingnewwaters · 16/07/2022 08:49

Also if you don’t like titles like this then stop perpetuating it by denying peoples lived experiences and feeding them lane excuses like ‘people give their tv licences up all the time’ 😱 Disingenuous at best, yes people do give up their tv licences but they don’t go on a post about a tv role historically filled by a white person being now being filled by a black person to announce it now do they!

cheekychatta · 28/07/2022 22:23
