Cancelling the BBC because they hired a black person

I've read most of the comments. Haven't seen this one. Can you screen shot the comment you are referring to?

Lots of people hate the bbc for so many reasons. I think dr who as a tv show is utter drivel and wouldn't watch it. Not because of who plays the dr.

Yes I heard on the news that he was in that sitcom, and they said he had really good reviews. I have not seen Sex Education. I sound like I am living under a stone, I had not even heard of it until Yesterday.😳 I will definitely be watching Doctor Who, when he becomes the Doctor.

People cancel their tv license for all manor of reasons. You see those comments on any DM story which mentioned the bbc.

The comments didn't show on my phone so I looked again on the laptop. It's awful reading as is some of the comments on here. I cannot understand why anyone would try to debate or challenge that it's not racism.

Some don't like his acting

The same as if a character that was typically black, there would be complaints if that characters race was changed.

There was similar outcry when when they made the character a female. I personally agree the sex shouldnt change of a character. That's just my opinion.

Same argument for the 007 character, it should alway be a male no matter what race he is. Again personal opinion but I think Idris Elba would be great in the role

It is racist.

White people are consistently racist towards black people.

Please do not try to rewrite our story.

I'm talking very specifically about a character and the opinions surrounding the changing of the characters traits.

@Agrudge agreed. Same when Bond changed from 'tall dark and handsome to 'blonde and muscular'. It seemed odd as characters normally stay the same.

Yes, that is all very well, I am sure. But we, Poc, know that is not the case here. It is racism pure and simple, it always is whenever it is anything to do with God forbid, black or brown people. It is tiresome, as tiresome as reading posters trying to defend the racism, on here for example.

As I said in my other post i dont think it purely about race as there was complaints when they changed the character to a female.
